Good luck with the new treatment.

I'm using Windows 7 I've never seen this kind of issues. And even with Windows XP it was very rare

I have. Usually it's caused by 3rd party firewalls or some other over zealous security suite. Name resolution is a classic failure point when Fwalls are involved...and also for workgroups when user X decides to change their password the fun ensues.

The duplicate name thing happens a lot when user X decides to connect their laptop to a hard line (for a faster transfer etc.) while it's still connected to the WiFi ... Moments later the machine is in conflict with itself. <-Okay I did that one to myself last week but I was in a hurry and having a bad day)

Looks kinda fake (the object that is being suckled upon, I mean)  ;)

I could barely look at it at first, but I think you're right when I look at it again. Good eye!

Indeed, the whole cow looks fake (scale is off etc.).

Open the file in notepad (or word, or any text editor you like). Get to search and replace function (ctrl-h usually).
Replace all instances of   ,   with    ","
Adjust spaces as you like.

I've had to do that a few times. Second part is to search for \r\n and replace it with "\r\n" to get the beginning and ending quotes. Granted that will depend on the editor...but it works for me in EmEditor.

Living Room / Re: In search of ... audio mavens

Um...
The mini-plug is for headphones and derails all other audio output.

I want to incorporate wireless speakers for the patio - cable is not an option.  Bought a pair of wireless speakers, with a broadcast unit that plugs into the mini-plug output.  That won't work, since it disables all other audio.

Problem seems to be by design (can the behavior be disabled?).

IIRC we have the same TV, isn't there a set of 3 RCA jacks (white/yellow/red) on the back of it? It shouldn't be to hard to get an adapter cable to get audio from that.

This constant "Politically Correct" watering down of things is truly insulting on a very base level. A 'disorder' makes it sound as if something is only mildly out-of-place (like disarray or disheveled) ... They just need a cookie and a good talking to (right...). Now sociopath OTOH ... Is obviously now someone you'd want dating your daughter. ...But it isn't "fair" to "stigmatize" these people with such a harsh term...because it might negatively impact their ability to find employment...in child care.

Okay, so can anyone do a (like 10 words or less) thumbnail sketch in the distinction(s) between:
Sociopath
Psychopath
Psychotic

AFAIK the saved data that LKGC uses is dynamically updated after each successful boot regardless of whether SR is enabled or not.
Correct, the Clone Control Set is automatically generated regardless of SR's config. That's why the registry has 3 copies of the Current Control Set.

The problem it has for general systems problem solving is it only has a limited timeframe where the 'last known' might still be useful. Because once you get to a desktop (even a screwed up desktop) that becomes your current last known 'good' config.

True the LKGC is updated by/to the CCS during login, but I don't think immediately after the login is accepted ... As I have gotten away with it a time or two when the login was freezing quickly. Granted those could have been flukes.

Short of a full-on System Restore being that there was not a successful logon, Last Know Good Configuration is/would be the quickest option.

Didn't feel like doing a screen shot:

Your score: 135 CPM (that is 27 WPM)

Your score beats or equals 21.66% of all.

In reality, you typed 145 CPM, but you made 2 mistakes (out of 28 words), which were not counted in the corrected CPM score.

Your mistakes were:
•Instead of "better", you typed "beter".
•Instead of "ever", you typed "even".

I'm not sure why he start talking about the smiling thing - maybe the police took it as meaning he was only there to protest?

They're profiling people looking for anyone that is too nervous/properly engaged with the event/etc., so he got targeted. And as usual the profiling got a bit out-of-hand. The fuzz deserve the ridicule and should just deal with it, learn from it, and move on ... They have no defensible position IMO.

Man arrested at Olympics cycling event for not smiling.

I've actually been hassled for that during orientation by the head of security at a previous job. Why it was such a big deal that I smile for a ID badge photo I've not a clue...but the security guy went friggin ballistic about it. Hell he didn't shut-up until I pointed out that Stoicism was a religion...so I had a right to not be grinning like an idiot.

I quit the job a few months later.

Coke! Banned in Bolivia![/b]

Can you imagine the illegal Coke trade?

(Bolivia...as in Bolivian Marching Powder Bolivia?)

Don't you mean the bidirectional Coke trade? They'll be swapping 8balls for a 12-pack (and shit-can both economies) by the time it's over.

So... By that logic, sleeping must also be bad for ones teeth. Unless of course they talk in their sleep. I have a really hard time buying this as there are a multitude of reasons people can have for not being loquacious. It doesn't necessarily have to mean your mouth has to dry out ... as I'm sure salivation rates vary. Here's a thought... Who is most likely to need-a-drink? Some one waiting in line alone? Or someone giving a speech??

And I'm also getting real tired of all the psychological bullying going around these days.
That's pretty much where I was coming from earlier. It started out as a means to help people, but now it's mostly just weaponized nonsense. Sure there are still some of the low level touchy feely I'm ok you're ok types. But the bulk of the psychology effort seems to go into screwing the shit out of the populace by conning them into believing some mindblowingly ridiculous spin-doctored bullshit. Like we're really supposed to feel sorry for the oil (oops) "energy" companies because they're having such a tough time making ends meet while they try so gash darn hard to make the world a better place for everybody... Seriously??? [comment omitted to avoid burning a hole in the fabric of the internet]

Either that or they're trying to "fix" things that are just not repairable. Some fruitcake standing over a pile of corpses with a can of whipped cream, a sparkler, and a spoon does not need counseling.

Right, let's make everybody feel guilty about not signing up to be monitored by the CIA.

The only thing this proves is that psychology is BS.

With all due respect, have you ever found much "man" to bring out in the average Apple fanboy ?

In an attempt to design an unscientific test I did a quick Google image search for Apple Manly ... It found nothing. I can only conclude by this that much as implied above ... There is no manliness in Apple products.

But did you know that there are over 200 "sunken cities" in the Mediterranean Sea? So we know that sea level was much lower in the past.

They were most likely the direct result of the previous inhabitants of idiotic monkeys creating their own incident of global warming which came to a head (destroying the planet) during an Olympic farting contest.

Now as far as the alien invading force... That will most likely - due to a massive miscalculation of scale - be swallowed in its entirety by a small dog.

That's interesting. In Win7-64, the "NET" command only has these options - i.e., no RESTART:

That probably has much to do with my not being a morning person, and it not actually existing.

I was surprised to read that the hacker "got in through Apple tech support and some clever social engineering that let them bypass security questions."  Huh?

Why? That is quite literally the oldest trick in the book. Scam artists have been using pieces of info to validate claims about one person to fool another since the beginning of time. A casual 5 minute conversation with anyone will glean enough info to do a google search for the rest of the details to answer security questions. ...And with folks putting their life story on FaceBook...the first two steps are academic.
Well, I guess I was assuming that other people are as cautious/paranoid as I am.  I put next-to-no personal info on Facebook and don't use security questions that can be answered via a Google search.  At least, I don't think I do.  :o   I do tend to be more truthful when I deal with tech support, but I frankly can't imagine someone knowing enough about me to be able to get personal info about me from tech support.

^ Hah... I'm with you.  When they give you a limited number of questions to choose from, I usually use a totally unrelated answer that I've related somehow to that question in my mind.

Hay, I'm with you 1000%, I also use a fictitious history ... But... We. Ain't. "Normal"... Sheeple OTOH ...  :wallbash: ...Please don't make me say it... :)

So, just buy 2 then? :) Or 4 for mirrored raid?

  ...A 4 drive (RAID1) mirror? :D

Umm...Maybe Renegade is thinking of a RAID-10 (aka: "striped mirrors") since he's talking four disks?

I Know ... I was just having a spot of evil fun poking him with a stick. We used the same configuration back when I first started where I'm at, but I had to switch it to a RAID5 due to space constraints.

I'm actually thinking of using it on the new rack system/virtualization/private cloud project if it gets off the ground for better redundancy since the performance numbers on RAID6 appear to be a bit (Um...) inflated. Not to mention the whole IOPS/spindle contention bla, bla, bla thing. Plan is to come out of the gate with about 8 or 10 virtual, on 3 physical, with a 3TB SAN...and leave room for an IT lab.
