and you can almost guarantee that people who have obtained it illegally are not bothered at all by the DRM, they already have the fix in place

I had no idea about launchers till i discovered donation coder and FARR, when i first installed it i wondered what i had done but i just used it as a basic launcher till i became more comfortable with it and the whole idea of using a launcher, so I tried launchy and slickrun and all the others that were mentioned and something was lacking, while i didn't and still don't understand half of what FARR can do I wouldn't use any other, as your knowledge grows and your needs change the program is there to grow and change with you, its familiar already so the learning curve for what you need is hopefully a bit less steep.  And on top of all that is inbuilt there is, you may have noticed  a great group of plugin writers and alias developers who seem willing to try anything is lurking around these boards ;) . If you think you might ever need the additional things that FARR can do I would recommend jumping straight in.

you can find most of the standard icons in windows\system32\shell.dll  at least thats where i found 'em  ;)

Apart from the very specialised DCupdater the only one i like is the file hippo one, gives you some nice options, like skipping a program altogether or just that update and whether to show betas or not, its only downside for me is its only for software they have at their site but then in a way thats a plus because you at least know where to find it  ;)
287
Trouble is, if we start disabling or removing all the plugins and so on, we will end up browsing plain text, which may be nostalgic for some and safe, but ohh so dull.

This name business wont go away will it, my suggestion is call it FARR, just FARR, not find and run robot.  Seems to me that the name FARR is probably becoming known, so keep it, and have a little note in the about box or in the help as to its derivation.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Character Table

I just downloaded and unzipped to the plugins directory, like I always do with plugins, unlike most of the others it didn't set up its own directory, I discovered this because when i started my computer FARR crashed with a violation error of some sort because of 2 updater files.  Easy enough to fix but a bit offputting,

I got rid of one doing
Start, Run and type cmd and hit ok.
then type:
sc delete "<service name>"

And its gone on my xp home system.  I'd already disabled it.

When 90% or more of reputable scientists agree, and many of the apologists for the no global warming side I've discovered are funded and/or employed directly by the major producers of pollutants generally and green house gases in particular I tend to go with the majority of reputable scientists.  Of course they have been wrong before, the world was flat at one stage of our history, bleeding people was considered a valuable treatment in many illnesses.

I guess its trendy to talk about it these days because if it happens and the predictions of catastrophic change in 50 to 200 yrs are correct then we are among the last who can do anything about it.

I have never had a virus found.  But I still install AV as the first thing, I like the sense of security, (i am using eset smart security these days - 50% student discount here in Aus anyway)

I only run a full scan very occasionally and  every so often, every month or two, will run spybot or Asquared free just to make me feel good  :)  And an antirootkit (blacklight and/or panda) They never find anything either apart from a few cookies, and i clean my cookies regularly and only keep the ones I want/need.

I have to say either way the things that reduce these green house gases seem to be all good things anyway, reduce pollution, be more sustainable, and if there is no global warming we've just left a better cleaner more pleasant environment for the next generations, if it is real then we may have saved the planet, personally I have trouble seeing a downside.  (I'm procrastinating too  ;) )

Dont know about anywhere else but in Australia it has been extended indefinitely.

andthe only complaint i've ever heard about it (apart from its name lol) is that it isnt pretty enough! What i like about it is it does whats needed and goes away, how long do you want to look at the beauty of your launcher for?   Besides i reckon it looks good anyway  :-*

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Breakaway Audio Processor for Windows System
« Last post by Grorgy on May 21, 2008, 09:13 PM »
Well, it was coincidence, I've been amusing myself with finding HDD to plug in and its only that 1.  So its a hardware error not software, Breakaway or any other.  And breakaway is still sounding good  ;)

Edit: Just to fix spelling

Thanks for that Darwin, I'm not 100% sure as, as usual, I was playing around with stuff so it may be something else, but, my little USB disk, when plugged in, now prevents the system from booting correctly. (seems to work ok when not plugged in but removing breakaway doesn't fix it).  Explorer is failing to start correctly, I can get process explorer up and restart explorer and it works briefly but then hangs again, but as I say so long as the drive isn't plugged in these problems don't appear.  Of course it could just be a coincidence and my drive was/is  on the way out anyway and just chose now.  Still it sounds good, and the flexibility compared to dfx for instance is great.
