Even kPad deserves a try. It's a minuscule program (104 Kb) but it seems like WordPad and moreover it makes automatically "clickable" the URLs we paste.

It's part of Tiny USB Office: http://xtort.net/fre...tivity/floppy-office
Antivirus false positives.

EmEditor Free

Yesterday I tried it.
First of all I don't see the difference between free version and professional version: in any case EmEditor asks the registration code.
Then, when I open a .RTF document I see also the codes of the RTF format (for example "\par")!!!!!

Is EmEditor just that way or did I miss something?

Just now I have tried the new Photoscape:

PhotoScape does not have any sliders for editing, and never had

Before writing my comment I have first read my old report about Photoscape 3.6.2 . In my report I don't talk about "sliders" however I read "changes are visible only when the left button of the mouse is released", therefore some sliders for editing there were surely in Photoscape 3.6.2.
Memory of paper never fails.

Once I tried version 3.6.2. There is/was an unspeakable feature about editing (brightness, contrast, colors etc...).
Even a weak-minded guy understands that changes must be visible in real-time while we drag the sliding buttons. Simple.
In PhotoScape we drag the sliding buttons but changes are visible only when we release the button of the mouse. Therefore in PhotoScape we can reach the right changes only after several blind tries.
With regard to me, my experience with PhotoScape ends here.

Hail!
With regard to portable hard disks (traditional kind, not SSD) I see above all very thin hard disks, for example thickness 13...15 mm / 0.5 inch about. They are just convenient indeed, but also their mechanical parts are very thin and therefore very fragile.

I don't trust such hard disks.

What do you say about them? Can you judge their reliability?

General Software Discussion / Re: Opera 15 Preview

Why are people still using Opera at all?

Even the IE is better nowadays.

A lot of people (me too) still use Windows XP. It prevents to install newer versions of IE (9 and 10).

I believe it's interesting to report the experience of a certain guy who is very busy about security. After years of experience, now he no longer uses an antivirus, but his purpose is reducing the "attack surface". This is his configuration for real-time prevention in Windows XP:

Firewall of Windows XP
ExploitShield Browser Edition ver 0.9.1 beta
SandboxIE 4.01.08 beta
EMET 4.0 beta
DropMy Rights
Norton DNS

Opera, Google SSL, WOT, Adblock, Ghostery, Dr.Web Link Checker.

Reply by reply, after some replies the message gets enormous and we must scroll an endless quoted text to reach the answer at the bottom: "Yes".

Excellent readability. Very relaxing for our poor eyes usually tortured by white bright backgrounds, insane color-matchings, very thin characters.

Until now the two avatars (the two images) I used here in DonationCoder tell my passion for mountain, an environment that gave me wonderful unforgettable experiences.
