Finished Programs / Re: DONE: On Screen Button That Sends Keyboard Commands
« Last post by Ath on September 20, 2011, 12:16 PM »
I couldn't check during my earlier messages, but now I see what you mean, it's the dark-blue borders that are the actual _borders_ of the button surroundings. Hm, I kinda like the thin hair-lines between the buttons, probably because of my fat fingers :P, makes it easier to aim at the right function.

I've been playing a bit with the colors, and by selecting blue text color (0x0000FF) it looks rather Ok to me:

Still, let me see what closer to your taste solution I can come up with ;)

AFAIK that's the Windows selected/hovered-button-color, not sure how to change that  I'll look into it.

Are you talking about an extra border around/behind each button with a specific color, different from the background color, or about a part of the current button?

I think that the driver added a significant delay in my boot process, but I'll have to un-install to confirm that. I'll probably do that sometime in the coming weeks, just to know for sure that this driver is causing the heavy HD grinding at boot, after boot-up the system works just as before. I can keep the screen connected during boot and it works just fine, as reported before.

The website says:  Download v2.99.01
But the program about says:  v2.99.02
nothing to worry about, just me distinguishing between insignificant builds.

Hm, maybe it's time to teach the webpage to read the current versioninfo from version.xml? There have been more reports of this 'issue'.

I have done some stuff involving Outlook inbox content manipulation (from a .NET app), like moving messages to other folders etc., and I assume it should be as easy to create new messages.
But what happens (or: do you want to happen) if the message gets marked 'read'; do you manually mark it 'un-read', or do you wait for the next (new) message to appear?

I'm currently working on a different spare-time project, so this would probably end up on the todo list, if I take the challenge.
OTOH, I could turn this into a NANY2012 project, if that timespan is agreeable with you?

Oh, and the .NET/Outlook link would limit it to be an Outlook-only solution, so no Thunderbird or other compatibility.

I would assume AHK tools for solutions that haven't been requested yet ;D

We can have more than one...

Fully agree on that, especially if there's a stand-alone and a FARR integrated solution available.

Ok, that's clear enough.

Afraid I don't have enough spare time to set it up, so I hope someone else can pick this one up for you.

I (that's me, indeed ;)) still fail to understand what an e-mail in your inbox offers over a (simple) repeated reminder of an appointment (Calender/Agenda-item with alarm enabled). If that scheme works for you with Google Calendar, why wouldn't it for your locally installed Outlook? (Unless you meant you have Outlook Express, that doesn't offer an Agenda, instead of the full-blown MS-Office Outlook...)

Not sure how much you are into software installation and configuration, but would the single server installation manual be a starting point to get it going? It would give you the benefit of knowing what it's doing, and why, so you're not dependent of some external 'source' for maintenance and support, with probably limited availability.
If you're talking about running a VBox virtual, you already seem to know what you are talking about 8)

(And I'm showing my ignorance/lack of knowledge about you  :-\)

What software of CarveWright are you currently using, Project Designer or Pattern Editor?

And if you could attach (or PM) a few sample files of both types (preferably zipped together), that would make it a bit easier to investigate.

Something a bit similar was discussed in this thread, maybe it is of help?

OTOH, I never have any video playing in my face without me knowing, as I'm using ABP (Ad Block Plus) and NoScript add-ins, and keep Youtube and similar sites blocked until I want to play a video, maybe that's good enough for you?

Most BIOSes have an option to boot without a keyboard, for the poor souls that don't have or want a keyboard connected :D

I don't remember the name of the word processor that came with my Leading Edge XT Clone. But it made heavy use of the Function Keys.
Wasn't that WordPerfect 5.1? It was controlled by functionkeys almost 100%

the logical place for the MIMO is in the middle of my keyboard

Yeah that feels right, I've been thinking of using ducktape to firmly attach the mimo to my keyboard so if I move that around, the mimo moves with it, and I always have it within hands-reach. I expect it to get a bit clunky though.
2717
Oh, but it's not Friday yet (about one hour to go to finish up Thursday) :P
2718
And did you calibrate it too? Or did the driver just mess up that setting after the first connect?

I only want to check Outlook for all my notifications, reminders, etc
That's exactly what the Calendar or Agenda (not sure what it's called in your language and version of Outlook) does: Remind you of the appointments you have. It does handle repeating appointments very easy, just remember to start up Outlook every time you login to your Windows :)

In the last NANY 2011 there was a project TaskDaddy, that can quickly and easily create Tasks in your Outlook, maybe that's already enough for you?

not sure what Calendar is, can you explain a bit? thanks
Either a calendar or an agenda, popping up your appointments in the correct time on the correct day?

an external video adapter that used the DisplayLink drivers
Seeing the advertisements on their site, it looks like they are used a lot with the Digital school-boards lots of school are already or starting to use, providing the combination of projector display and touch- or hand-pointer- input.

MIMO is monitor 3 and is somehow paired with monitor 1, thus any touch on the MIMO reults in 'tablet' input to monitor 1.
Oh, yeah, the driver does have the quirk of setting the wrong default monitor as the touch-related monitor, you'll have to correct that like this:
Screenshot - 15-09-2011 , 20_24_20.png

The circled label-like control is actually a button that lets you select the monitor (3) that has the touch-capability.
Not sure if I also had to correct that with the original drivers, but seeing it misbehave in this version, I guess I did.

Is anyone using the mimo with win7 64 bit? Just wondering if that's going to be a problem when I move from 32 bit.
Yup, works just very fine over here :D
