General Software Discussion / Re: looking for programming language

I chose Javascript
searching for a powerful programming language
How come you use those two statements related in 1 message? Or did I misunderstand and are you now looking for a more powerful language than jscript? 8)

Any .NET language will let you do that.

Almost anything I do forces the hard drives to start thrashing away with the cache.
I thought I had system-speed issues after installing the DisplayLink drivers, so I defragged my boot-drive (using MyDefrag with the Systemdisk-daily script), and it has helped quite a bit, but it's still slower starting up then it was before the DisplayLink drivers. Guess there isn't much more we can do about that. I don't have speed-issues after the initial slower start.

A local magazine featured a short press release on the Cisco RV 110 w and it mentioned a price indication of ~€ 80,-

It has more features then you need, but it's Cisco, full of good features, and reasonably priced :)

Next update will be for WBE getting a better configuration of all Image parameters (7 comma separated values is a bit cumbersome)

Promises are there to be fulfilled, so I added an Image parameters configuration window to WinButtonEdit. 8)

It can be set to auto-update changes to the preview (default off, there's an Apply button), and the sliders max. range can be set (default 128)(both from the Options menu)
When pressing a button in the preview, the selected button is activated in WBE, and the Image parameters windows is updated as well (when open), any image parameters changes made are 'saved' to the associated button.
A screenshot was added to the release message.

WinButtons version was only bumped to align the update with WBE.

Here's an update release of:
and

(Extra emphasis to WBE this time)

Download available from the release message, linking to my DCMembers pages.

Updates can be downloaded also from the WinButtonEdit File/Check for updates option, using DCUpdater when installed.

Any feedback or feature requests are still welcome, as usual :)

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Main window font size
« Last post by Ath on October 08, 2011, 08:50 AM »
Doesn't it scale with the Windows default font size? (Haven't tried myself)

If you set Windows to 125% (120 dpi for pre-Windows 7) most apps scale to the larger font size, and so should CHS, IMHO. Why should the CHS main window have a larger font then default font size?

Living Room / Re: Buying a fast new PC, anyone have a favorite US system builder?
« Last post by Ath on October 07, 2011, 04:19 PM »
I'd be sure to get some kind of guarantee that the system you receive is according to the specs you ordered and expect. Sounds silly maybe, but managing expectations on both sides in any commercial deal can be quite a challenge.
Your requirements are pretty accurate but there's still room for interpretation, and once the system is built and delivered, their interpretation could be "we're done, you pay now", and a conflict is near.

This is another good reason to have a supplier at reasonable traveling distance, if possible, so you can go there and evaluate before delivery. It's top dollar your paying, and a classy system you're expecting, so some 'quality assurance' is required.

Might I drop the suggestion 'regex replace' at just in front of your shoes? The source-capturing and result-presenting would be the next challenge ofcourse, but this is just a quicky suggestion ;)

It was suggested elsewhere on the web that the "iPhone 4S" be renamed to "iPhone 4Steve", but I get the impression that's what they did already, honor him with the S in that name, and not name it iPhone 5.

@ebennetthill, have you researched the ThinkVantage software, available with that tablet? It appears to have several configurable tools/options, that might provide you with what you need to achieve what you want. (I read this tip when searching for solutions for this issue, though I don't know anything about that ThinkVantage software.)

And next to what rjbull suggests, there's also GSplit 3, that has a UI but can also be controlled from the command-line.

I've been using that to split huge logfiles into manageable pieces, and repeatedly split long lists (4000+) of usernames into the portions needed (250) for a testing tool.

Living Room / Re: Massive Security Vulnerability In HTC Android phones
« Last post by Ath on October 03, 2011, 09:53 AM »
I live in a busy city, where coverage is perfect. Put the phone on the table, get four bars (max). Pick it up, display drops to 1 (one) bar. Go somewhere less populated, and I have to reach for my old Nokia to make a call.

The Sensation is the first phone I've ever had that drops calls. When it does connect, sound quality is poor, and too often I can only hear every second word that's spoken on the other end.
In such case I'd go back to the shop/service provider, and have the phone replaced, it sounds like it's faulty.

which finds WinSendKeys in the sub-folder but not the .stro
-cranioscopical (October 01, 2011, 12:46 PM)
Ah, yes, the -send command of WB doesn't change directory to the WinSendKeys (WSK) folder, and by specifying just a filename without path, WSK expects the file to be in the current directory, and that is the WB directory as you already found out.

I could change that, but I'm not sure it would make you any happier ;D

“Higher prices don’t just talk,” Beckwith insists. “They tempt.” My 25+ years of marketing experience in the software industry confirms this belief. In the software industry, most developers will tell you that their Pro version outsells their Standard version.

Isn't that because the Pro version usually has some crucial feature desired by 100% and bought by ~60% of all users :-\

Defining a mouse-gesture to close a tab should also be fairly easy, if it's not pre-defined.

When browsing through the help I found this default mouse gesture:
Close tab   hold right button, move down then right
Just tested it with Opera 11.51, and it worked like a charm :D

Also tried in FF (7.0.1) with FireGestures add-in, and it has the same gesture doing that action

IMHO, using the close button on the Tab is more intuitive then selecting a Close Tab entry from the context menu. But I removed all instances of Opera from my system, because I was never using them, so I can't even check if that button is there :o

Defining a mouse-gesture to close a tab should also be fairly easy, if it's not pre-defined.
