But the most flavorful brains are human brains. All the best flavor comes from knowledge and experience, which humans have more of than monkeys.

If they can sneak up on monkeys and kill them with that tiny bow then humans should be a piece of cake.

I like the proggy and probably will get the paid version from the site
Their policy is very much DC-like: You can use the software for free and donate if, when and what you want, and can afford

It may be on the Inno third party listing someplace..  I remember there was a free program that let you embed themes in your installer.  Pretty easy to do.  It builds a small DLL into the install exe and you call functions in it to show your installer wizard themed.  In fact the setup program for my optical Tray program still has a themed install.

Don't use HTTPS to view DonationCoder not don't use it in links

Hmm, I'm not using https and it still shows blank space where people are obviously referring to something that should be where the blank line(s) are.

What they need are a few rain forest zombies skilled in hunting monkeys with those little silent bows and arrows.  Also they could teach their contemporaries the culinary skills required to serve the brains in skull(there must be a term for it like a la carte but I'm not schooled in Haute cuisine.)   :)

That would prolly be a skullet - assuming fried or baked brains, of course  :-\.  Otherwise, consult Indiana Jones (Temple of Doom) for chilled monkey brains as a dessert guide.

I heard chilled brains is good with Reddi-Wip.  That's assuming the Reddi-Wip itself is chilled.

Is it just me or are posts missing links lately?

Can't say I've noticed that.

Anybody else?

To put it another way, was there a link in your post about Riks?

This is a fun one from Stevie Riks.

A respectful - yet refreshingly light-hearted version of one of the most popular (to say nothing of self-righteous and somewhat condescending) Christmas standards of them all. Hey...Bob Geldof had a hand in writing the song. What can I say?

How many pop stars can you identify?

Is it just me or are posts missing links lately?  (Not talking Darwin but web links.)  :)

(Sigh). Easy on the eye, but hard on the grammar. So much for crowd-sourcing of knowledge...
At least the spelling is OK.

Oh, and that's a grammar error that gives me the same physical reaction as nails on a blackboard!  :o

.. so you must cringe a lot when you're here?   ;D

I cringe a lot, in general. I don't keep track of where, any more.

.. oddly enough... this doesn't bother me at all...  (see attachment in previous post)

Hmm, if it were 9 one inch nails I wonder if music would be produced?

[I thought "sneak snack snuk" was better but online reference says I should write "sneaked."]
You could also write or say 'snook'

Ah, it's been too long since I brushed up on English Grammar.  :)

Edit:  btw if anyone is trying the Firefox x64 Nightly, I'm not sure exactly what happened, but it seemed like when I tried Session Manager AddOn other extensions stopped working and I had problems I could fix with restore points or reinstall.  Fortunately my Cyberfox seems unaffected.  For the time being I'm back to using that.

Also I don't trust Sync, since it doesn't have a manual overwrite mode.  But my Bookmarks seem OK.  My guess is some interaction with Nightly and that AddOn.  Even my 32 bit FF got hosed.

I would suggest switching to Firefox Portable

:)

I have the same nightly in portable version.  Trouble with that is if I check for updates it totally breaks it since the update is attempted even though it never succeeds in the PortableApps version.  Also setting it as default involves a hack.  Now that the browser install has stopped refusing to copy an older version over the newer it's really easier to just install over it.

How about a zombie movie where the characters like and prefer being zombies.
Where they are intellectually-superior creatures, frustrated because their favorite delicacy: brains  take such tight co-ordination and teamwork to get and because of this have to be shared among so many people you only get a small portion of the gourmet treat. You don't know how much planning and effort it takes to get it. Ordinary people make it so hard to get their brain. If they only knew how delicious they are.

What they need are a few rain forest zombies skilled in hunting monkeys with those little silent bows and arrows.  Also they could teach their contemporaries the culinary skills required to serve the brains in skull(there must be a term for it like a la carte but I'm not schooled in Haute cuisine.)   :)

@questorfla: I really think just a post in one forum or the other is sufficient to bring us out of the woodwork ;)

Is that a pledge to polish off his problem?  I'm sure he was just paranoid his query wood gather dust.  I mean he doesn't seem like the type to go against the grain;)

You could create a small Inno Setup installer with just a single [ini] entry to fix that. The default settings are to run as Administrator (after confirmation of the 'unknown publisher' as you probably don't have a code-signing certificate, and a UAC question), and just a few Next clicks further (after disabling almost all screens, 1 or 2) it should be fixed.
I can help you out with the script if you want.

Great idea.  Especially since Inno has a subset of Pascal for scripting.  Very straightforward to use.

This wonderful behavior can be stopped by configuring (or even better uninstalling) the Mozilla Maintenance Service.

https://support.mozi...-maintenance-service

I always do a custom install and uncheck the option to install the maintenance service.
The disable this behavior info shown in the link where is says to uncheck the option to install in the background.. I don't have that option.  So that indicates to me it never snuck the install by me.  :)

Edit:  I thought "sneak snack snuk" was better but online reference says I should write "sneaked."

Is there a zombie movie where the outbreak is caused by a computer virus?

Is there a Zombie movie where the Zombies look better dead than alive?

I can't believe they still haven't fixed this

I think it's more one of those "it's not a bug - it's a feature" deals. :-\

I have an ongoing fistfight trying to keep it from updating. >:(

Heh heh.  I did manage to find the installer for the build I was running.  It figures I take one chance and let it update and it acts flaky.  I had to "upgrade" back to the 36.x build.  The more things don't change..  :)

General Software Discussion / Firefox update download trap
« Last post by MilesAhead on December 06, 2014, 12:05 PM »
I still get snared by the Firefox update download trap.  I set Firefox update to Never Check for Updates.  However if I click the Help Menu then click the About then Check for Updates, if I should happen to click the Update to whatever version when offered, there's no way to turn it off.  If I kill the browser, when I reopen it, it starts the download where it left off.  Now I'm stuck completing the update if I want to or not.

I can't believe they still haven't fixed this.  It needs to have an Abort Button!

The Rat's Point Of View

A Lab Rat had one of his buddies over for a visit.  While showing off his maze to his pal the guest rat noticed a guy wearing a white lab coat.  "Who's the guy in the smock?" he asked the host.  The host replied "He's my servant.  I merely ring the bell and he feeds me.  Would you like some fresh cheese?"  "Sure" replied the guest. Ding ding ding.

General Software Discussion / 360 Total Security
« Last post by MilesAhead on December 05, 2014, 12:00 PM »
I am trying 360 Total Security since it was recommended on Gizmo's site.  I like the virus scanner(even though it flagged BrowserBunch as a "threat.")  :)   I usually don't run with a real time shield.  This one has 4 settings with one being "Performance."  For that reason I'm giving it a go.  So far I haven't noticed a performance hit in Firefox Nightly x64.

Edit: 360 Total Security is Freeware

After I browse awhile I'll scan to see what it let through.

On a side note I noticed ToolWiz TimeFreeze released a new version.  I tried it briefly.  It seems now to insist on a reboot to turn it off.  Also I see no setting to not start with Windows(although you can have it come up disabled.)  I managed to stop it autostarting by using the tool in WinPatrol.

Edit: ToolWiz TimeFreeze Latest Version: 3.0.0.2000 Release Date: 2014-11-19

Here's one I'm working on.. may have to tune the wording a bit but the idea is ..

Q: During the selection process of a new Pope why do we see black smoke so often?

A: Because once selected it becomes the Pope's duty to pontificate for the rest of his life.
It's the College of Cardinals' duty to listen to it.

(Does any of the above even make sense, I wonder? ;D )

Makes sense to me.  I don't think a Cassandra Wilson comes along every other week.  On the other hand those lip syncers who take singing lessons after they get the recording contract are a special category of talent that Howard Stern would refer to as "worth bangin'."  ;)

Developer's Corner / Re: Coding at a rate of 240 words per minute

I will admit... it's 34 minutes, so I didn't watch the whole thing.  If someone wants to use it... more power to them.  But it doesn't look like something I'd use nor advocate.

I suppose if someone made a career switch from stenographer to developer it would only be natural.  On the downside there's enough metrics already without being expected to "type" 200+ wpm of bug free code.  :)

You may be too stoned if...

You know someone is tripping if...

They encounter a table and chair.  There's about a one foot gap between them.  They stop to decide should they:

a) try to walk through the gap without moving either
b) move the chair to make more space and walk through the larger gap
c) walk around the chair
d) ask a friend what to do

This could be a too-high dilemma as well... so it's aa) try to walk through the chair.   ;D

Heh heh.  Or e) sit down and think it over.  :)

Switching in and out of secure boot makes sense.  I'm just getting paranoid in advance since I think GPT is going to be widespread with off the shelf systems likely equipped with 4+ TB drives soon.

It's still premature to think about multibooting Linux on the Toshiba.  But I want to start getting a feel for how the non MBR world is going to be.  :)
