Ok, i now understand your problem.
Those pages need a login to be accessed, and apparently httrack doesn't support that. (i actually am surprised, i thought it did)
There should be similar programs out there that do support autentication.

Anyone?

^dc[ ]*(.*)
(Why ever?)
Probably
^dc\s+(.*)
would make more sense than the current one, but i think that's overkill.

Glad we got that figured out ;)

Armando: i can't seem to find anything relevant right now, but many many people around here defend that if you have a router at home, there's no need for a firewall.

As for a spyware preventer.. I'd go for spybot.

I just doanloaded returnil's free application from their website and AVG informed me that the SHeur.FA trojan was attached to the download.
Just make a search for "avg false positive" here on the forum... Curiously it isn't the first time AVG fools people saying good software has trojans.

when on earth to you need to put the cursor back a word without deleting it when using farr?
I don't usually use it, but i do use it when using fcalc, (when you have a number lika 12340943756, you just press 1 key to go back to its begining).

I also use it when searching for directories. If type the wrong first letter, i press ctrl-left to go back to its begining, and right now that has bad results. ;)

I think you could leave alt+left/right doing what they do right now, since that makes some sense given the fact that alt+left/right go back and forward in history in windows explorer. But ctrl+left/right really should act as they do in most editboxes.

Same here. DCU works.
Notice that 'DC U' doesn't. But that isn't supposed to work, since 'DC ' (notice the space) triggers the DC search alias, and anything you write after that space will be used in the query to be made to the forum.

Maybe you could try disabling that alias, to see if you get the same results.

(instructions: see attached image, just deselect that box)

DcUpdater / Re: DCU download issues?

Also, what is the point of calling the button "DL & install all updates" if it does not automatically go into the installation step? Seems like I had to manually run the two downloaded update files. Or am I missing something.
The updater is supposed (and does, on my computer) to download the updates and then run the updaters, you still have to press the "next" buttons on the installers, though. Not sure if that's what you're referring to.

General Software Discussion / Re: Forum for Linux software?
« Last post by jgpaiva on July 11, 2007, 12:04 PM »
I don't support the idea of having a linux forum, and i think i have good reasons for that:
-It could tear the community appart between those interested in linux and those interested in windows.
-It'd generate repeated posts for cross-platform apps

What i do support, is posts about linux software on the general software discussion forum, and more and more threads like this one, which go towards a join of both worlds.

*jgpaiva dreams of a world where Operating Systems won't be a barrier for software ;)

@afm:
You're right, microsoft made things harder for GridMove users (not that i think they're worried about it :P).

I had already seen this happen, but haven't figured out a solution yet.
What do you mean with having it be a zone?

Although that is definitelly a faliure in terms of speech recognition aimed at programming, i actually find that impressive!
They way it deletes words, corrects words and such is very impressive!
Also, it can recognize "normal" text very well. I look forward to using this myself :)

DcUpdater / Re: Adding support for zip files
« Last post by jgpaiva on July 11, 2007, 09:24 AM »
Hey Mouser, before I report a bug, does this thread mean DCUpdater can not currently update the FARR plugins?
Yes, that is correct. Until mouser adds unzipping to DCupdater, the plugins can't be updated. The version verification still works, though. All you have to do is unzip the plugins to their directory and dcupdater does the rest.

Find And Run Robot / [bug report]? Farr v 2.00.126
« Last post by jgpaiva on July 11, 2007, 07:04 AM »
Well.. I haven't ever used this feature, so i don't know the last version it was working.

You can now set optional hotkeys for each alias. Pressing the hotkey will bring up FARR (if hidden) with the alias results shown (i.e. as a menu).
-farr's help file
If i understand this correctly, this feature isn't working right now.

I set a hotkey for a test alias, and when i pressed that hotkey, farr didn't come up. The hotkey wasn't even recognized by farr, as it was passed to the window below.

I was thinking this'd be a solution for this post, since we could add an alias with a low rating, named "+\", which would only be used to bring up farr in folder search mode.

I was thinking a plugin called FolderList for FARR would be desirable. It basically would return the folders for the query you put in. that would stop my need for FolderScout.
Actually, farr already does.
If you input the name of some folder, it'll give you the matches in the search path.
The problem is that as there isn't indexing, you can't have it search for folders in your whole disk, only on the search path.

(i believe there's a '+' action to improve the ranking of folders so that they appear first on the list, but can't remember which one is)[edit] nope, there isn't. but you can add one, at options->heuristic scoring-> right-click on "folder score as %..."-> edit this entry -> optional modifier keywords [/edit]

You can make farr search only folders by adding +\ to your query.

where can I get getdataback for NTFS license key? :) thanks.
I guess this'd do: http://www.runtime.org/buy_now.htm ;)
Here at DC we don't advocate illegal use of software.
We can, though, find you a bunch of free alternatives. You should find some good programs in these 2 threads:

So I'm saying it pays to study smf alternatives like phpbb3 (I'll try) and design our site components to be less reliant on SMF forum software.
Even though i do agree with what you're saying, i'm very sorry to hear it.
SMF forum software is miles away from any forum software i've used, and this means that a change would be a huge step backwards.

I have a doubt: are smf updates that important?
I mean, if they go payware, aren't we allowed to keep using an older version? And if we would do that, would we miss out on anything important?
From what i can see, if they don't even update their crappy search, i don't think we need them at all.
2546
Very good post, mouser.
I also support your points.
2547
taichimaster: I can only say "unbelievable!!!"
This is a damn useful plugin :D :D :D
2548
which is illegal according to their licensing, and we need to remove it and only include the "diff" file or the issue would be "elevated".
That does sound like something coming from someone asking not to be helped.
I understand that they have their own rules, and they could just be asking you to follow them, but that's definitelly not the correct way to do things.
I agree with you, mouser. Better leave them with nothing.
On the other hand... Isn't there some kind of clause about people who make mods of SMF being obliged to distribute them?
2549
But wasn't your idea not to have to manually surf through each page?

httrack would allow you to download only the html files, which would not take much space (this page for exampe, takes 70-80kb).
Then, powergrep would retrive the links all at once from all the pages. All you'd have to do would be to give it a regular expression (or a normal boolean expression) to match on the html files.

Really, i cannot understand why the Christ Redeemer from Brazil was elected. There's nothing great about it (especially compares to the other stuff).
I can. See his page, specially the "population" part.
It's just idiotic that monuments such as angkor were placed behind the Christ Redeemer. I'm not saying that it's not a good monument, it's just not at the same level as some that didn't win.

I was definitelly disappointed with this competition.
