@Contro:
^^ Good question, though a bit off topic.
In response:
  • As I wrote above, I took a look at the details on the DocFetcher website, and it seems to be purely a document Search/Index proggy - could be an alternative/replacement  to (say) Windows Search/Index. Thus apparently not the same thing as Qiqqa at all.
  • Qiqqa is a fairly specialised (for PDFs) and self-contained reference management system. I think it makes its own copy of every PDF documents file that it finds in the  directories you tell it to monitor, and it searches/indexes them and OCRs any image content, and builds metadata about all documents.
  • Windows Search in Win7 can, by default, index/search hundreds of file types, and for those it can't by default, all you need to do is install the appropriate iFilter - e.g., here are some instructions for installing the PDF iFilter.
  • Unlike Qiqqa, I don't think Windows Search can OCR images with embedded text in PDF files, though it can OCR and index any embedded text in images in TIF/TIFF files.

Yo are so good technical i try to follow.  :(
So speaks me as a dummie  :-*
please .
windows search is included in Qiqqa ? qiqqa does o may do all what windows search does ?
DocFetcher is included in Qiqqa ?

I am here again. I have more information. This is what we need.
I put the translated conversation and the original in spanish :

"The target in autoit is a GUI window that allows elements multiple selection and from the same program we can obtain anyway the elements selected by the user. Until now I have tried :
The AutoIt control lists command (GUICtrlList) don't seem to admit the multiple selection elements and I haven't got any additional information in that sense.
There is a second list type (GUICtrlListView y GUICtrlListViewItem) that visually admits multiple selection, but the problem is about the autoit function to read the selected elements from the lists (GUICtrlRead) only return the first element. So even in the case you select multiple elements after you can't know from the program how many or which are the selected elements. In the example in the autoit documentations happen the same problem.
So is a question is if exists another type list that admits the multiple selection and obtain information about the selected elements by the user, or any other way not documented of the function GUICtrlRead to obtain the selected elements from the lists GUICtrlListView, or if any programmer knows any real example (because the example in the autoit documentation don't work for me)"

Javelin seems to be a DRM files reader, not an utility to produce super protected pdf files.
 :-[

Drumlin seems also a reader. Are a method to read pdf files when you have the code, but are not the program to protect the pdf o create the pdf protected.

 :-[

Drumlin ist exactly the software that you need: "The secure versions of PDF files are created using our Drumlinsoftware, which is also free." (cited from http://www.drumlinsecurity.com/)

Download here: http://www.drumlinse...y.com/downloads.html

See also here: http://www.drumlinsecurity.com/drm.html (how this DRM stuff works)

I mean "Digital Rights Management" (DRM), i.e. copy protection. Many e-book vendors use it to protect books (although the term DRM is not restricted to e-books). There are several (incompatible) DRM schemes. Essentially, the PDF is encrypted and can only be viewed if the PDF creator allows it. To open a DRM protected PDF one needs a special PDF reader application (usually provided free of charge by the vendor that sells the DRM solution).

2 PDF DRM solutions (both prevent screenshots of a protected PDF):

Drumlin Security (free of charge, at least the last time I looked)
LockLizard (very expensive)

No idea if this is what you're looking for.

Running to try.
I will comment

If you want to protect a PDF, you can try a DRM solution. DRM makes copying and/or editing a PDF somewhat harder, and some DRM implementations are even intended to prevent screenshots (so no OCR possible unless someone cracks/removes the DRM).

But I'm not sure from this thread if protecting a PDF is actually your goal.

How is that ?
Running to the browser for DRM.
What the meaning ?

There is not any special protection system ?. By example that OCR don't go in a PDF.
 :-[
OCR can work off of screenshots, so there is no way to 'prevent' that.

Oh damn !!!!!!!. I suppose so.

As you may remember we talk somewhere about Qiqqa. Big program indeed.
Finally I don't adopt and I don't remember why.
A few days ago, in my rutinary revision of sotware i discover docfetcher.

don't appear in the wiki in the category you express above.

What are the differences ?

Getting strange characters from a copy/paste may indicate that the receiving application is not uni-code aware/capable?

Ath, So is not a way of protection ?

Hello Ath. The option i comment above was an error or the PDF ?
I refer to the possibility of a PDF where you can copy/paste , but when you paste you only see strange symbols.

I have seen the option save as an image, but we must be careful with that option because in the most pdf editors if you mark for the ocassion continues in the next printing. So we don't must forget unmark again.

Discussion about special ways to protect a PDF

Some time ago I tried to copy/paste a part of a PDF but when paste only strange symbols appear. .....

Don't seems the habitual user's protections that make no possible to copy/paste. There is not selection of text or images.

Well. What are all the rest of protection I can apply to protect a pdf ?

How can i convert a searchable PDF in a not searchable PDF ?
Or convert in images PDF ?

Best Regards

Create a non editable PDF . I suppose tha protection is override with OCR methods....

Fast Explorer is another one that I've used, though as with the other choices the learning curve is perhaps a little steep.

Downside is that it appears to be out of development (developers website is gone!) though it's been working OK for me (W7-32)

At the present time is kaputt. In some places is not indicated for windows 7. But it's a good news is can be used under windows 7.

Or this free tool from door2windows (Don't know them, just googled it) http://www.door2wind...-windows-xp-vista-7/

They have some nice free tools.  The Navigation Pane Customizer for Windows Seven is totally intuitive. I feel like I can change the settings on a whim because I won't get stuck when trying to change them back. :)

Hello Miles !!!!!!!
At the present time I have almost solved the inconvenience of scrolling the context menu

FileMenuTools always looked very good to me (haven't tried it recently):
http://www.lopesoft.com/en/filemenutools
:-* I have. I am using that program for years. And use yesterday to see a tart with the hard disk spaces. Happen a very strange thing. I have the system disk with 285 GB and appear with only 164 MB free, but filemenu tools give me 97.6 GB free. But in my pc windows the hard disk appear deeply red.
I was using the splendid program DocFetcher in those moments. The indexes are very small so have no explanation. I reinitiate the system and after the while the red status dissapear.

The problem with this type of problems is that not "automatic". You have to think and that make me nervous because require knowledge to eliminate some entries.
With all the danger i am now with nirsoft ShellExeView and ShellMenuView and shellOpenwith
But lacks a measure for dummies.
 :P

Note : I thingk was probably a virus, because don't seems possible from DocFetcher, so I have no consult this point in the DocFetcher forum. But it's so strange.

I have always liked ContextEdit.  It was a free giveaway from PC Magazine a long time ago, but now it's $7.97: http://www.pcmag.com...2/0,2817,3229,00.asp

It requires a bit of knowledge about how context menus are supposed to work, file associations and things like that.  You can do much the same thing in Windows' "Folder Options" under the "Filetypes" tab.

See this thread for other software, and a link to the older free version of ContextEdit:

I don't know if it works on Windows 7.  Maybe give it a try?
