Am I the only person who sees this and thinks "Tetris gone wrong"?
Yes :P

I can reboot fine, it just doesn't make any difference to the MIMO. I can never really predict what will be required to make the screen work.
Ah, it might be my sloppy reading, but I didn't get that detail, sorry. But the net result is bad enough.

But, honestly, I'd be happier if the pc would just stop bluescreening.

You might need that bug to be taken out first, before investigating anything else. (Start with the memory modules)

If this second set of hardware (same company/shop, right?) is (nearly) as crappy as the first, then they have a QA issue, and you'd probably need to find another supplier.

It might be worth to investigate the qualities if the MIMO on the other system you talked about (with the Cintiq screen?), as it could turn out to be a faulty main-system after all.
2503
Just installed the latest DisplayLink driver for my MIMO, and, after a whole lot of screen flashing (going on and off) 8), a reboot, and a re-recognition of the MIMO hardware, it works just fine. By the next reboot I'll know if still flashes so often during system startup.

This convinces me more that the MIMO owned by nudone is technically faulty in some way, as it prevents a reboot of the system when connected, and gives all kinds of troubles :'(

That's just nicely inbetween full selfemployment and being a job-slave :D
Just enlist to all that you can afford, and see what it brings you. With your positive attitude you're going to be just fine

Even rather old Jira versions (4.0) have a nice page where you can paste an image (jpg/png)  from the clipboard to be attached to the issue.

I've an iPad and that seems about the best touchscreen at the moment. Maybe they should all be named something other than "touch", perhaps "heavythumbprodscreens".
That's in fact the difference between a Capacitive touch screen (that the iPad and most of the smartphones have) and a Resistive touch screen that the MIMO has, the technology diff explained in this Wikipedia article

Anyone know of a workaround so I can buy the apps I want?
  • Find someone with a sufficiently capable Android device
  • Switch his/her device to your Google account, connected to your phone
  • Download, install and buy (in the appropriate order :))
  • Uninstall the app, and switch the device back to the original Google account

It's a hassle, don't know what the side-effects are (haven't tried :tellme:) but it can be done.

N.A.N.Y. 2012 / Re: NANY 2012 Release: Printer PaperSource Explorer 1.2.0.0
« Last post by Ath on December 06, 2011, 05:53 PM »
It's a tad early, but I took the liberty of making it already official:

NANY2012 Release of Printer PaperSource Explorer version 1.2.0.0.

From the Changelog:
Code: Text [Select]
  1. 2011-12-07, v1.2.0.0 (Release)
  2. - Added option to show the location of a printer
  3. - Added option to show the known Media and Sizes (driver-data, not printer-data!) (In Other Information submenu)
  4. - Added option to show the known Mediatypes (driver-data, not printer-data!) (In Other Information submenu)
  5. - Added options to be stored between sessions, including the position and size of the main form. (per user: %APPDATA%\PaperSourceExplorer\PaperSourceExplorer.config)
  6. - Changed Expand All Nodes to not expand the Media and Sizes and Mediatypes nodes if enabled
  7. - Improved to have application icon on the main window
  8. - Improved printed summary to have all selected optional information
  9. - Changed processing order to first display the main form with Loading... text, and then retrieve the printer data
  10. - Changed Installer to also offer to open the Changelog.txt at the end of the install

Get the update either by running Help/Check for Updates (using DCupdater), or download the installer form the first message in this thread.

The ToDo that's still open I can't say for sure to be released before/at 01-01-2012, as I'll be busy helping some family members move to their new house from next week on :-[
I'll check the forum for bugreports and feature requests as usual (maybe a bit less frequent), and release updates when needed

Sounds interesting, have colleagues that are going to like it too

It's too late to send back to Amazon, I've checked. I suppose I could send it back and say it's not fit for purpose or something but I suspect that it will work fine if I plug it into a system with less monitors attached. So, not fit for purpose isn't really the truth.

You should be in time to claim it's faulty and have it replaced by another one (record the serial to be sure it's replaced), if you're luck they'll send you a complete new one from stock.

I'm not prepared to keep messing about with it anymore.

I fully understand what you are saying, I'd go the same route with such a bad experience.
2514
As I wrote before, I did encounter some minor issues while starting up, having all black screens for several seconds, but eventually it just works. And I do have 2 dual-screen systems, at home both connected using DVI, and at work both connected using DisplayPort (DP), that I added the MIMO to.
I'm kinda disappointed that it won't work in your environment :(, as originally a touchscreen seemed such a good idea

You'd better try to get a refund for your device, as you wrote in the other thread.

Oh, could there be a chance you're running the monday-mornin' model? The one they defunct on purpose, just to please the guys at their service desk? It's a bit hard, without someone with a similar device in the neighborhood, to swap it temporarily to find that out. :-\

@DerekHal: sf.net (as mentioned by the OP) is a working redirect for Sourceforge ;)

Updated Printer PaperSource Explorer to version 1.1.3.0-beta.
From the Changelog:
Code: Text [Select]
  1. 2011-12-03, v1.1.3.0-beta
  2. - Added matching a known bin when the bin-number is in the printer name separated by #: (as seen in Windows Server 2008 R2 on VMWare)

SJ,

My original intent, back in 2007, was to be able to detect/determine the (low-level) bin numbers (the BinNr.:x at the end) to use for some older software that directly drives the printers with PCL5/PCL6 code and needs to select the correct numbers in the PCL code it sends. I had been testing with an old LJ4Plus that had an extra tray mounted underneath the main tray, and all was simple/well.
Eventually it turned out that the drivers used by the more modern (both HP and other brands) printers reported totally different numbers from the actually required PCL-code numbers >:(
Though the list of possible trays was useful in some situations, this was still one of the reasons this project was shelved back then, as I couldn't find more accurate data

To be able to match possible paper trays, as gathered from the printer driver, and what's actually installed in the printer, I (have to) query Windows components. I (currently) don't intend to try and query the printers directly to retrieve that information, as that would be a project of several years, just to acquire the knowledge of retrieving it from all the printer brands available. (What are standards good for?)
Seeing your LJ2100, and the totally different (read: 'lack of' for Win7) information available on XP and Windows 7, I don't have much hope for better information from a lot of other drivers.

If you need/want the information on the paper sizes, I can try to squeeze that info in the view, though atm, I'm unsure I can directly match it to the tray at hand.
I'll release 1.1.3.0 first with an added bin-detection method.

Thanks, ewemoa.

Yeah I saw that 1111, and captured it myself, but hadn't thought of upping the version for that ;D would've been nice.

The "Visit program web page to download update" button on the update checker sent me to a 404 here:
http://ath.dcmembers...ersourceexplorer.php

Did I show up to early?  :D
I mis-typed the url, have to fix that in the next update, sorry :-[ The download link from this thread's first post is correct, as you found out.

I can now see why on your Win7 config it didn't match the AutoSelect unrecognized tray: Half of the driver-trays have a space pre-fixed to the name. I'll have to strip that off during comparing ;), missed that from the previous screenshots, but now it seems obvious.
I can only agree on the crappyness of the HP drivers, as they have IMHO been for the recent 10+ years.

The WinXP display seems quite accurate, doesn't it?
