My tools may be wrong. In fact, there were only two out of three. Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. Kaspersky did not intervene. But in Malwarebytes I found no option to let it pass. At least not immediately. Thank you for your interest. :)

@Both of you: The only method I have tested so far was the Lowenstein-distance. Yet my method seemed much better to me, though only in principle. The disadvantage is the extraordinary number of calculations necessary. It may be a primitive way of pattern recognition combined with very limited abilities in coding. Nevertheless, I´ll try to sum up my thouths and post later what it is all about. May last quite some time as I am not a native speaker nor writer of English.

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Calculate string-similarity
« Last post by HelmutWe on October 24, 2018, 03:41 AM »
Not a new idea, certainly. And I doubt, whether this can be coded in a few hours. The input would be any two strings. The output a number, e.g. between 0 (zero) and 1 (one). Lots of possibilities for commercial use. My idea on how to do this is very old, more than 20 years, but my coding abilities are limited. And the power of computers was very limited too, when I was trying to code my method in VB 6.0. There are n! x m! calculations to be done. n = length of string 1, m = length of string 2.
I started this when I was studying phonetics and came across neurolinguistics. Expandable into many more areas than just alphabetical languages. But that would be a start. Anyone interested?

Screenshot Captor / Re: ScreenShotCaptor at 4K resolution

@mouser: ...and the autostart-problem has vanished as well. Although I can´t say why. Might probably have to do with the way I installed SC. I wasn´t aware of windows-login and admin-login, "run as admin" respectively  :)

I tried yesterday afternoon (22.20.2018 18:00 CET). It was as described then. ScreenshotCaptor catched only one quarter of the screen.
Now, early in the morning or at night (23.20.2018 02:44), it works perfectly again.
Very sorry, but I think I have to get used to my new equipiment before posting here. >:( >:(

ScreenShotter and 4K?
@mouser: I got a brandnew 4 K-monitor just today five hours ago, also new Nvidia GTX 1080ti. Now shots from ScreenShotCaptor cover only about 1/4 of the screen. Probably a minor adjustment for @mouser.  :) Running of course at 3840x2160.

@mouser: It took me quite a time to find out that I had to run the setup as admin. As my PC-dealer told me I´d have all possible rights on my private PC that didn´t occur to me. Anyway, there is no problem anymore. Whether to decide if this is a case of "problem solved" or "problem vanished" I don´t know. And the autostart-option takes some seconds before it is recognizable. That is i have to try some screenshots before I hear the meantime familiar click sound. :)
@Kodezwerg: Dein Hinweis "Your Windows Admin Account may differ from Logon Account" war eigentlich goldrichtig. :)

@KodeZwerg: At last here I found ScreenshotCaptor and AutomaticScreenshotter about a year ago, both by far the best programs for my needs. The very few problems I meant to encounter were all solved by Mouser or turned up to be my faults. I still haven´t explored all possibilities.
@lainB: Found it, thx. Will come up soon with some IDEAs.

Discovered this great side only last year when searching for a screenshot utility and found it. Almost no idea about coding, but interested nevertheless. At the moment searching for a slot to place a software request to randomize filenames. (Lots of solutions on the net, but nothing is satisfying.) In earlier years taxi-driver, linguist, journalist.

As far as I remember, it says that a screenshot is not sufficiently different from the preceding one. Maybe doesn´t differ in a single pixel. To the best of my memory. The message surprised me too much to record it.

As I could not find a better place for my suggestion although there is probably a better place I´ll post it here: I found out that ScreenshotCaptor remembers multiple hits of PrntScr. Like 10 times in a row within three seconds, which is a great feature anyway. The only drawback is that ScreenshotCaptor stops taking screenshots as soon as the screen didn´t change and displays an error message instead. Which happened only once, although I´m using ScreenshotCaptor a lot, maybe 1000 shots or more within four weeks.
I´d prefer ScreenshotCaptor to continue taking screenshots. Maybe add an error message to the screenshots, but not stopping.

@KodeZwerg: I certainly could handle your proposal, with some effort. But before I try: Is it very likely to work at least? Of course, in the end nobody knows. I do not demand a guarantee. I surely got the latest Versions of Windows and Captor.

Another day, another try at hearing the meanwhile familiar >click< when hitting [PrtScr] after a reboot. Without opening captor at first. Can´t get it to work. No way:
I open Captor by clicking on the big icon on the desktop. Captor resides minimized in the notification area. Left click on the upwards arrow: Right click on the small captor icon. Left click preferences, ensure that "start with windows" is on. Repeat this procedure several times. Don´t know how often. But then after the n-th attempt, the left click on preferences makes the captor window to vanish.  No matter. It´s OK. "start with windows" is on anyway, I presume.  Open and run captor as admin: Allow changes: Yes: >Edit  >Preferences  "start with windows" is still on: [Apply] [Accept] [Close]: Check Autostart in Task-Manager: ScreenshotCaptor is activated. Reboot: [...]: No >click<: No Icon in the notifcation area. Disappointed. Do I expect too much?

Vielen Dank nochmal. Many thanks to all of you.

I found that. Thx. But I can´t find what is shown in ScreenshotCaptor Help. A view with a title bar (white letters on blue background: "Screenshot Captor Options") as here.
