Find And Run Robot / Re: Mayk or Find And Run Robot?
« Last post by VSiAQ on April 10, 2006, 09:20 AM »
Firstly, I wrote the article comparing Mayk and FARR.  ;)

I had been using Mayk for a really long time, and I was very pleased with it. When I decided to write a review about Mayk, I found out that it had been updated. Well, I was a bit dissappointed, as it integrated many buttons.

I had chosen Mayk, because its interface was really simple, neat and fast. With the buttons, it didn't impress me any more.

I switched to FARR since then.  ;D

I have to admit that, FARR is by far the best file launcher. It's so great that I uninstalled a file searching tool immediately, and hide my All Programs section in Start menu forever.  :)

Needless to say, thank you for your wonderful FARR.

I second that. I'm using a slow dial-up connection and I'm unable to spend time waiting for the web mail interface to load. I just use Thunderbird to read email, and check the option "Forward mail" to my Yahoo! account to be notified whenever an email comes.

I agree with mouser. The first one is too dark for my eyes to read. The second one is much better, though its line number is still hard to read.

I like Turbo Pascal scheme. Yellow text on blue background. Though I change it a bit. To Free Pascal's scheme. :D

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Visual CD is pretty incredible catalogue software
« Last post by VSiAQ on February 03, 2006, 08:39 PM »
I've tried some disk cataloging software, but the best software I've ever used is CDBank Catalogue, which is developed by Qunom Development team. You can get the trial version of CDBank here: www.qunom.com.

Pros:
- Speed. CDBank is really fast when indexing your CD & DVD. Normally it takes you only 2 or 3 seconds to index a 700MB CD.
- Audio CD Support. I can easily get CD Info from CDDB by clicking mouse 3 times.
- Search and copy is powerful. You can perform simple search, advance search using operator like +, -, and, or... using their built-in Query builder. You can copy a list of files in search results, although they're in different disks.
- Thumbnail support. While indexing pictures, thumbnail creation is a option.
- Macro support. Easily perform usual task.
- Loan support. You get one disk from A, or borrow one from B? No need to remember it, CDBank help you store it in the database.
- Flexible database. You can exchange database with other user of CDBank.
- Multi-language support. More than 20 language files are available to download.
- Up-to-date. Qunom development team continuously upgrading CDBank to meet their goal. They truthly listen to what users want.

Cons:
I haven't found any cons so far. CDBank is really great and it worths a try!

UTF-8, please. :)

I think the executable size isn't the most important point to focus on. Today we have hundreds gigs of hard disk to waste. :)

I love mayk. Not a true launch bar. But it works greatly for me, a person who like to use command-line tools. :D

Just google and you'll find it. Small and really fast. Simple interface. Rich-feature. It definitely worths a try.

It does NOT support Unicode.

It displays Unicode correctly as long as I haven't saved the executable file. After that, everything goes mad. Characters turn to "?" symbols.

Just a little question before I download fsekrit.

Does it support Unicode? I have to work with Unicode all the time, because my native language is Vietnamese.

Thanks a lot.

General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox Extensions: Your favorite or most useful

The best Firefox extension I've ever used is Adblock. It's really good for me, a dial-up user. :D

FlashGot is also good, but I don't use it too much.
