Very interesting software here, specially this 'Locate' thingie...
However, I'm wondering why nobody mentionned the excellent Total Commander (http://www.ghisler.com/) with its almighty all-powerful search feature ?
It's one of the few shareware I actually bought

Well, I tried what you suggested and it works ; I disabled the 'digits keys ...' option and enabled the launch using the CTRL key. And now, it works and doesn't consume any unnecessary disk time !

I think that I made a major breakthru : the bug arises if and only if I use a number key on the keyboard to run a program from the result list ; if I use the mouse it works, and it also works if I select the item using the arrow keys and then press enter...
I've got a AZERTY keyboard, so maybe that's the trick ? Let me explain my idea : When I say I use a number key, I mean that I simply hit that key (e.g. the '1' key) which would normally produce a non numeric symbol when simply pressed (e.g. the '&' symbol) but seems to work automagically in F&RR (well done, this).
Maybe F&RR searches for concat(whateverITyped, '&') ?

I'll try and run FileMon to check which file is accessed, and tell you the result ASAP.

PS : thanks for the info about the download link, it was very weird... I had to rename the file and then it worked ... I'll think about posting in the forum about Griddler, of course !

Hey, you were fast on this one 
1) when I run a program using F&RR, it does go away in tray when I press a number key, but it doesn't stop searching (or at least using the disk) ; moreover, if it DID stop using the disk before i pressed a key (e.g. I pressed ESC, so it stopped, and then I press a number key), it starts using the disk again.
I don't know if I'm very clear, I'm not a natural English speaker 
The phenomena always happens, whatever the program launched.
I attached screenshots of Sysinternal's Process Explorer window showing the IO delta generated by F&RR, along with comments.

Hello !
First, bravo for a great idea and a fine program, and thanks for making it free !
However, I think I may have run into a bug :
I start the program (pause key), make a search (for a program I want to run) then press the corresponding number key.
This is the normal procedure, and everything works as advertised (and fast, too ;o)
But, when the program is launched (slowly), my (slow) hard drive keeps working until I press pause to bring back F&RR and pause again to make it go away.
I found out that the reason the programs are slow to launch is that F&RR uses the disk even when it has finished searching, when a program is run.
It does this even when I manually stop the search before launching the program (using the ESC key).
