I haven't rebooted yet.. (only way to clear the plugins collection).

Process Explorer is your friend. Close Firefox, then use Process Explorer to kill all the plugin-container.exe's.  No rebooting necessary. ;)

I do really like the way it uses color, but the scrolling thing is a deal killer for me.

You could have just the colors by using Colorful Tabs...it's just color, no funny business. I happen to like the colors from this plugin better than what Tab Kit has, so I disabled the colors in Tab Kit and installed this:

https://www.binarytu...fultabs-for-firefox/

They work together fine? (I'm a bit skittish about FF addins. Had too many troubles with them in the past...)

The pastels there are nicer to look at -- softer on the eyes.

They work together quite well, as long as you turn the color stuff off in Tab Kit.

But if you are not using Tab Kit, then you don't have to worry about that, but can still have the colors.

I liked the pastels better with my particular desktop theme. Not only is it softer on the eyes, like you said, it also doesn't clash so much with a classic theme of this color:

This is the issue, and all the way at the bottom of the page is how to fix it: http://support.mozil...ugin%20has%20crashed

But, by fixing it, you will be allowing flash to take down your whole browser if it should crash for real.

edit: the page says it won't do that, used to say it would.

I am a Tab Kit user, primarily because I need something to make the tabs more manageable, with multi-row, but not getting crazy with too many rows that I have only a sliver of space left to view pages. I have it set for 3 rows and the rest accessible with a scrollbar.

It can also do it tree style, if you prefer, and there are a lot of options for automatic organization of new tabs.

My over abundance of open tabs was why I used to hit this problem very frequently.  :-[

This is my mouse...and I love it! I can no longer use a normal mouse comfortably, nor should I even try. If you are considering an ergonomic keyboard, consider it for your mouse, as well.

This is pretty cool...sounds better than the midi made from the text of the About Us page:

Although the midi does sound more bird-like.

Well he is the Mouser after all.

Old proverb: Cats and cooks often come (and go) without saying.  ;)

And he often goes to cook (or build bookcases) without saying.

For clarification purposes...

I did not request this! You asked for an idea for a completely useless application and I merely told you an old joke by pasting an old quote from the IRC channel:

<app> i am thinking of creating a companion for instant boss...instant mouser
<app> you run it and it ignores you

Then explained what I meant by that.

Also, you can follow DC on twitter, friendfeed, and facebook. If anything goes wrong, those would be good places to find out news.

No.

No, because it's not only sound that causes distractions. Popup alerts and other activities also cause distractions.

This would be fairly easy to code as I described it, and normally it would be the kind of thing I'd make myself, but I am just not in the right frame of mind to be able to do it.

Sorry if I got anybody's hopes up.

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Movie Mode
« Last post by app103 on December 08, 2010, 01:48 PM »
Whenever my daughter and I watch movies on my PC (or I am playing a fullscreen game), I end up having to first close a bunch of applications I normally have running, because they either make sounds or have popup alerts that distract us and spoil our enjoyment of the movie.

It would be nice if I had utility that I could supply a list of the full paths to all the programs that interfere, that may or may not be running. It would go down the list and check if those apps are running; and if they are, add them to a relaunch list before closing them. Then when I am finished watching my movie, it could relaunch all the apps for me...but only the ones on the relaunch list. This way nothing that wasn't running before would end up getting launched, and I could provide a more extensive list of applications that interfere.

NOTE: At least one of the applications I need to close has to be relaunched with command line parameters.

Developer's Corner / Re: How to program for all 3 platforms at once
« Last post by app103 on December 05, 2010, 12:46 PM »
Easiest for me would be Lasarus/freepascal. But that would require you to have access to all 3 platforms for compiling & testing. (write once and compile for anywhere)

Because you didn't go here first? http://www.w3schools.com

By the way...if you ever need something you can pop an HTML code snip in and click a button to see/tweak the results, Fuzzpad is always a good quick & easy online tool to use.

What application are you running it with?

Firefox & notepad2

I also noticed in firefox, that when it pops up and what I am typing isn't one of the options, sometimes it doesn't close itself when I continue typing, and will linger on the screen after I hit the post button on friendfeed or facebook.

Ok, now it is working, but the popup is nowhere near my cursor. It's quite a bit above and to the left.

It's important to note that beyond the software itself, a certain amount of theoretical and mathematical background will be required to understand much of what this type of software does. There's no point in trying to use nurbs and splines and booleans and shaders and...the list goes on, without some understanding of what they actually do - and how they accomplish it.

And this is one of the reasons why I never got very far in 3D graphics, beyond making "accidental art".  ;D

The target link is everything that is between the quotes following <a href=

Pop that url in your browser and it should take you to the page you want.

I have been running this for about 5 days and so far all it has done is build an autocomplete list containing 14 words and make some occasional beeping sounds. Am I missing something?
