I think it might make sense to exclude all .ini from scanning.. risk is extremely low and might speed up system-wide stuff.

Mostly minor update for compatibility issues, but i also solved a rare cpu usage bug.

Minor update which should improve compatibility for some people.

Living Room / Re: 64 Bit CPU - Is it worth it?
« Last post by mouser on January 18, 2008, 05:49 PM »
f0dder seems to be the resident expert here, and i don't know much about hardware.
but my basic understanding is that all of the new cpu's are 64bit.

the question is not whether to get a 64bit cpu, everything you buy now, all the dual cores, etc., they are all 64bit cpus.
the question is whether to try to use a 64bit native operating system with your new cpu.
there doesn't yet seem to be much reason to do so.

It's fine to post about your own program, first post or not.  We only ask that people make clear when they are posting about a company that they have a relationship with.

Cool, thanks for this

fascinating discovery!

as i said i actually observed nod32 doing this to be before, but only in a directory full of html files.
i personally use nod32 as my antivirus and dont notice any farr slowdown issues.. however i do have the heursistic scanning disable since i find that is unreliable.

I use NOD32 so i doubt it's that (though to be fair i have seen NOD32 do this behavior, but not on ini files).
You might just go to nod32 options and disable some optional hueristics and see if that solves it, rather than completely uninstalling.

but it would be interesting to hear if it was really comodo causing the problem with FARR.

ive had this kind of insane behavior before from an antivirus.. and you are right to not assume that "disabling" will for sure answer the question about whether it is to blame.  and definitely see if you have any other anti-trojan or anti spyware resident detection software that could be doing this.

Any ideas what the best program is to manage recipes, and search.  Maybe one that has a lot of recipes already or maybe one with none, not sure what i'd like best.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Synching two LBC files
« Last post by mouser on January 16, 2008, 09:04 PM »
Launch Bar Commander can load multiple files at the same time (suprising but true!)

So basically:
  • Backup your files first
  • Load BOTH files
  • Drag and drop to copy and move stuff from one file to the other.

still shouldnt be such a big delay, so im not sure its the whole answer, but clearly that's most of the problem.

yeah this is due to inefficient ini saving of the history list on farr's part.. i'll put on my todo list to save history to a separate data file.

I don't think they are dropping development.. Developers got hired by mozilla, no longer have to market their software (i guess they did well enough marketing themselves).  So now they can make the software free and get paid by mozilla corp.

Anyone know any other firefox extension review blogs/sites?
24373
The DCS Media blog has a special feature every friday where they review a couple of firefox extensions and rate them.  Nice bite-sized reviews that are helpful.

Fireday is a series for reviewing Firefox extensions every Friday (Friday + Firefox = Fireday) and selecting the best and worst extensions that are out there so you know which ones to use and which ones need adjusting.

The entire list is below so find the extension that best suits your needs and drop a line to see if there is an extension you want reviewed.

you can delete it if its not in use, doesnt matter. it's just a file created by the database engine signifying to any other programs that the clip database is in use.
