Living Room / Re: Obtaining Windows OS ISO's
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on March 05, 2012, 04:21 PM »
I don't really want the hassle of calling microsoft and trying to repeat 50 serial keys to an Indian call center, who's staff barely understand what your saying...

If needs must, and M$ don't just 'Provide' the 30 day trial stuff for this, ill just use other methods :)

Yeah, I am 99.99% sure this is a false positive.

False Positive? Whats One Of Those???
A false positive, also known as a false detection or false alarm, occurs when an antivirus program detects a known virus string in an uninfected file. The file, while not infected with an actual virus, does contain a string of characters that matches a string from an actual virus.

A false positive can also occur when a program performs an action, which appears to the antivirus program to be a virus-like activity.

Examples of such activity can include, but are not limited to, writing to the master boot record of the hard disk, making changes to a system file, or running a custom macro in a program such as Microsoft Word.

False detections, once confirmed by the security company in question, are usually corrected as soon as possible

Thank you for pointing this out :)

Did you download Direct from here at DonationCoder? - If so, please provide the link you used.

NB: If it WAS from here at DC, then there is a 99.99% that this, is a false-positive

Living Room / Obtaining Windows OS ISO's
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on March 05, 2012, 03:49 PM »
Anybody know where I could obtain 'LEGALLY'  ISO's of Windows 98 and XP?

These will be installed, ONLY on machines with a COA label attached to the tower.

If possible, I would like the base OS (No Service Packs) purely because I have had issues where a COA is licenced for SP1, and you try to install the full OS with SP2 bundled...I would much rather install service packs separately due to this.

Thanks in advance :D

Are you people speaking English?
 :-[

Press Start, Type 'msconfig' (without the '') and hit enter...choose the boot tab...and if you see "Windows Vista" simply press "Delete" on it :) - I dunno if this will cause any errors with your system though so, somebody else may wanna confirm this for you :)

Boot into a Live version of any Linux build, locate the folder, eradicate the folder, reboot into winblows windows?

Worth a shot if nothing else :)

In the end, I told him to add a message on his site, that says it is best viewed in ANYTHING other than Firefox.

Agree. I find myself using Opera more and more.

Been using Opera for years and just cannot find a viable alternative for every-day use.

The ONLY thing I use Firefox for, is Netflix, purely because it won't actually let me use Opera for watching shows, and I am certainly not going to use IE for that task lol

Ok. This is what I'm talking about. Closed FF. Then this weirdness just happened again when I opened FF:
 (see attachment in previous post)
Wasn't doing it before.  :-\
This is probably unrelated, and I'm going to start a new thread...
but ever since the crazy firefox versions have come out, it's been a pain in the butt to keep things working smoothly.  I'm not saying it's FF, it just feels like it.

I had this discussion with a friend of mine the other day...he was asing why the website I made for him 3 weeks ago, now does not render properly in Firefox (Even though it did when it was launched) - I explained to him, that keeping up with Firefox changes was just not worth the effort seeing as they seem to change how everything is viewed on every new release...as a developer, that is VERY irritating and just seems to be a complete waste of time...

In the end, I told him to add a message on his site, that says it is best viewed in ANYTHING other than Firefox.

Living Room / Gamigo Hacked
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on March 03, 2012, 11:03 AM »
Just got this e-mail:

Important: Please change your passwords

for the gamigo Account System, your games and forums

We have regrettably been forced to reset your password!

Dear gamigo User,
We regret to inform you that our database was subject to an attack in the last few days. The intruder(s) managed to acquire (alias) user names and gamigo user passwords. An excerpt from these was published in the gamigo forums.

We detected the attack and are working to the utmost of our resources to repair the damage and to determine how it happened. We are leaving no stone unturned in our efforts.

Your character data, including items, is safely stored on the backup and remains available to you.

We cannot rule out that the intruder(s) is/are still in possession of additional personal data, although to date we have received no report of any fraudulent use.

To prevent any unauthorized access to your account, we have reset all passwords for the gamigo Account System and for all gamigo games!

There are 3 steps to recovering access to your gamigo accounts and getting back to playing again:

Step 1:

Go to the gamigo account system and set up a new password for the gamigo account system. Please make certain that the new password is not the same as the old one!

Step 2:

Log in to the gamigo account system with the new password and go to "My Games." Please select a new, secure password for each of your games.

Step 3:

Important: Please also immediately change the passwords for all game forums you visit, to ensure that your data is safe there as well.

A detailed set of instructions on changing your password can be found in our guidelines. If you have problems, please contact our Support team.

We greatly regret this incident and any inconvenience it has caused to you.

I think we should get BitCoins here on DC - Seeing as we can mine collectively - Would be cool to see how much got generated each month for DC - And seeing as you can trade them for real services and money, it could be a fun thing to do.

I know I would personally donate all my idle CPU to mining bitcoins for DC :)

https://bitmarket.eu/ <---- Trading for real money, seems possible, and seems to have an active amount of buyers/sellers - If DC just undercuts everyone selling...its a good earner lol

**edit**

For those of you who have DC open when your PC is on (Tab always open) - What real difference would it be to have one extra page dedicated to doing this? (Asides from the extra bit of noise coming from your computer due to the fans going crazy lol)

I thought we were far enough off-topic already :(

Curt,

We are not out to trick anyone and are more than happy to refund you for the monthly membership. Please email me at [email protected] in reference to this post, so we can proceed with the refund process.

Thank you

Certainly restored my respect :)

I generally browse around 75%

Obviously the answer is to get a screen that's 33% larger.

Hmm...so 47"?

I would probably still use the same zoom level though haha

;D
This is how I know I belong to DC.  If you find this stuff interesting...yes, this is your place.

I can already see my friends giving me the "You have waaaaay too much time..." look.

Good stuff!!

Bloody brilliant aint it haha

Hmm, might be something to do with my zoom settings, I dont have the sites viewed at 100%, I generally browse around 75% - Might be something about the CSS of SMF that doesn't like it lol

btw...that website is a marketing ploy...

They do nothing but promote another website, which actually sells website hosting and such...

Very clever technique, and also rather amusing :)
