says that there was an update for this in March ...
According to Microsoft a fix for this vulnerability was released on March 14th for all affected versions of Windows.

Just because there was an update doesn't mean that everyone did so.

FWIW it would appear this behaviour is somewhat random.

Some people are reporting it despite being up to date, and others (as above) have no problem.  Interesting to note that some chrome users are also complaining

No problem for me on Chrome.

TL;DR: HP distributed an update for Conexant audio driver that also included a keylogger. The drivers were correctly signed and this keylogger has already existed on HP computers since at least Christmas 2015. It's unclear who's responsible for this situation.

Thank you and I hope this is non-obfustigated, as I have to confess to a vocabulary malfunction in my brain on that one:

I think he meant non-obfuscated (or perhaps was making a riff on that?), so you didn't miss anything.

They keep spamming this forum over and over again  We just remove the spam posts so you don't see them.

[In fairness -- the program is relevant to this discussion so it wouldn't be so bad to have one relevant post about it here with an explanation from the poster.  But they keep making multiple spam posts about the tool in various inappropriate places on the forum and that needs to stop.]

Sounds like it's time to use the banhammer. Leave the one post here if you want, but ban the spammer to prevent further spam. That's what I'd do. :)

(And IMO, a spammer doesn't deserve the benefit of leaving one post behind advertising their product or whatever they're shilling.)

I'm pretty sure he does ban the users, but It's not the same user

A small suggestion; don't use the subject as part of your post.  Leave it as it is, unless you're truly changing the subject.  Makes for an easier to understand read.

I personally don't want context sensitive in the way of the touch bar, and wouldn't use such a feature.  Give me a programmable mechanical keyboard, and the ability to customize the application any day.  Add to that the lack of feedback (like typing on a glass screen), and it's a swing and a miss for me.

CSearcher has had some relative success, I've had thousands of downloads on my site and until today I only received one donation. It was something I expected but it is still a bit of a disencouraging and leaves me with little motivation to continue to evolve into more complex features.
I need to find this motivation (and some free time) to be able to implement these features.

Despite this I made another version  :D

Version 1.5.1.0 (May 8, 2017)
[new]   New option (menu Option) to limit Max number of results
[new]   New option (menu Option) to Keep results on new search
[new]   New option (menu Edit or shortcut key Alt+F) that copies to clipboard the folder of selected results
[fix]   Fixed a couple of bugs in keyboard shortcuts
[fix]   Fixed small layout bugs on main form

Downloads:

·http://www.hnsoft.pt/Repository/CSearcher/CSearcher_1.5.1.0.exe Self-Extracting file.

From personal experience, you have to find your reasoning to do it for it's own sake, and out of some sort of fulfillment other than money.  Whether it's the number of downloads, or the fact that people ask for you to do things (which means that they see value) or something else.

@wraith808

Thank you for your message.

I now spent quite a while reading these posts only to find out that everyone there says my objective could not be achieved.

Would it not have been much more productive to say: "It can't be done" than to make your readers go through all those lengthy posts in the hope of finding a solution to the problem raised in this thread?

Or: If you did find a solution and I overlooked it, maybe just simply post it here how to do it?

I was trying to find some avenues for you to look.  That first one that I linked had some that were said to be alternatives to tabmix plus, and someone else said it was tabmix plus.  And the second one (the direct post I linked to) had what someone coming from tabmix plus had cobbled together to get an approximation to the functionality of tabmix plus.  If you expected me to do the sampling of them in order to give you a solution, then I'm sorry you were misled.  I don't personally care about the address bar opening a new tab.  So I wasn't going to personally do that.  You've been here a while, you should know that people try to help, even if it's to give a clue.  I'm sorry if you found my contribution less than helpful.

In order to link the specific content that I linked to for others that might find it useful and/or want to try the extensions in the specific post's solution:

Ok so far while not ideally the way I would like it to be, that being everything in one tab extension. But these do an ok job. Here is what I have in extensions so far for the things I had listed:

New Tab Redirect: Opening a new tab with new tab button loads www.google.com

TabsPlus: Opening a new tab opens a new tab next to the current tab being viewed

TabsPlus: Open selection from history or bookmarks in a new tab next to current tab being viewed (vs opening in the current tab)

I need a link of this kind to test: Open links that open a new window in a new tab instead

Not covered yet by extensions added: Switch to newly opened tab for all new tabs opened from all sources except for from links

Sexy Undo Close Tab except the restore to original position: Undo closed tabs with a very large closed tab history of at least 100 and restore the tab in it's original position

Vertical Tabs: An all tabs list where I can tap/click on button to scroll through a vertical list of all the tabs currently in the window

No working solution to this one yet the Enable Stacked Tabs in chrome://flags/ might work for some but not for me: Scroll the tab bar by drag left and right or by scroll buttons (chrome appears to have drag and drop move tabs so not sure how both would work)

On the tabs themselves nothing yet but a possible alternative for some would be Tabs Outliner with color options for saved, opened, and active tab in the extensions tab list window but not the tabs in chrome window. About half of this feature of TMP: Highlight unloaded tabs, unviewed tabs, and any other tab other than current one that doesn't fit either of those two descriptions using user defined color and style for text and tab background for each of the 3 types for me this is all tab background color same but unloaded tabs are red italic text, loaded but unread tabs are red not italic text, and ones that fit as other are black text, and current tab is bold black text

I haven't looked for one for this: Lock, protect, and auto reload would be nice but I can live without as I don't use very much. Also display small icon on tab indicating these states

Nothing yet on this feature which sort of ties in with the scroll-able tab bar feature needed: Tabs are of a fixed width and height defined by the user (oh my how I hated tabs shrinking as more were added) I need to be able to read the tab title enough to know what page the tab is

Not sure if it is from the extension but there is an undo closed tab right click on tab in tab bar and Sexy Undo Closed Tab covers the closed tab list: Tab context menu has undo closed tab, undo closed tab list, and lock, protect, reload, auto reload tab; lock, protect, and auto reload feature I can live without

FooTab might be the only possible working solution for not loading tabs that aren't the active tab or later become the active tab during the sessions. I just added this extension prior to posting this so it is untested to see if it provides the desired functionality. With that covered here is the list of all the extensions I currently have added in my attempt to make chrome a complete replacement for the current state of what Firefox does for me:

Adblock Plus
FooTab
New Tab Redirect
Session Buddy (I haven't thoroughly tested this one)
Sexy Undo Close Tab
Tabs Outliner (This one is nice for hierarchy organization of tabs kind of user I'm not sure I will keep this one)
TabsPlus
VerticalTabs

Thanks for your helpful(?) feedback, and I will try to gauge whether the person would like any leads on finding their solution, or would just rather nothing if it's only a lead.  Somehow.  Someway.

Maybe a Smarta** already corrected them. ;D

If I'm understanding you correctly, you can do that in LBC already..  They are just nodes that are pointed to directories.. But perhaps the conversation is best continued in a separate thread..

The launch bars can be integrated into the task bar instead of the other way around?  You don't really tout OS integration (other than being able to take bits into your bars like the start menu or the task list) in any of your features or videos.
2392
I wouldn't mind being reminded about what those are.

Look at the image above.  That bar (all of the yellow folders) is a normal quick launch bar.  And I can create multiple ones.  They're actually a part of the OS UI, rather than being a separate window/dock/whatever.  That feature is important to me.
2393
TrueLaunchBar is a good program.
A very similar alternative tool is my LaunchBar Commander program. Also good, if I do say so myself.

Yeah, the main reason I use TLB instead is that it has its own shell integrated bars :(

Non-Windows Software / Re: Android 6 tablet Cmd keys?
« Last post by wraith808 on May 05, 2017, 01:06 PM »
I think the model of the tablet isn't as important as the model of the case with included keyboard.

My guess is that it's a generic case meant for a variety of devices, including iPads, so they provide a generic keyboard that can work with a variety of OSes.

Those tablets seem like they come with the keyboard, and are made for them, looking at the marketing, but I could be wrong.  It's billed as a 2-in-one, not a tablet with a case.
2395
I've used Winstep Xtreme, Object Dock, Fences, Tiles, and various Start Menu replacements.  In the end, I've stuck with TrueLaunchBar.  I have no compatibility issues, it's relatively cheap, and it's very configurable.

My current configuration:

truelaunchbar.png

The best part of that for me is that all of those folders are just folders on my hard drive.  I made a folder, then several folders inside of it, then links in those.  And it just works.  The others are a bit more flashy and configurable, but in the end, I spent more time configuring than using- trying to get them just right.  And the fact that I have access to them all the time, rather than having to go back to the desktop like Fences is a bonus too.

You could ask a question on the Amazon page:

Pathetic though this may be...

I have a Surface Book and am strangely pleased not to have been upstaged by a Surface Book 5.

I'm actually quite happy with my Surface Pro, and didn't really need new hardware, so maybe I should just take my wins where I can like you.
