There' s also an old PC Mag application that does this as well. Two caveats, though:

1. I don't know if it is XP compatible, let alone Vista
2. PC Mag apps are $8 or so, unless you want to pay for a month or a year's access to the entire collection (about $20 a year).

The ability for the user to tag posts and threads.
The ability for me to mark a thread as always read.

+ whatever we're up to now on these two ideas. There are threads that I have replied to once and have lost interest in. I'd love to be able to tag them as "ignore" or "always mark read"

Although I have a GMail account, I don't access it via the web. I do access my Yahoo! e-mail online though. Other than Google itself (for searching) and banking, I *think* that this is the only online service that I use.

Yeah, I just gave up on it because:

1. It's exhausting!
2. I was reading through posts to find stuff worth replying to and wound up basically replying to say "thanks" for stuff that is three years old

Anyway, it's a nice idea. Probably more sensible to start with the RECENT posts that haven't been replied to yet. At least they'll still be topical.

Thanks for the reviews, mouser and Zaine. Great work and they still stand as examples of how they should be done. I hope some DC members are motivated to update them and/or write some new ones. File Management, Desktop Search tools, and PDF Editors/Creators are three categories I can imagine being "ripe" for review. I'm not volunteering, though... Truth be told, my usage of just about any application is too superficial for me to be in a position to comment with authority and accuracy.

I've looked at Kapsules a number of times. I have played with WindowBlinds a few times but have never tried Kapsules. How has it matured over the past three years, like a bottle of fine wine or a pair of smelly gym socks?! Enquiring minds want to know. I want to know!

Thanks Grorgy  I'm going to try it later this week. I've been trying to update bloody VIPRE all day and it just keeps timing out  This has survived a reboot, so I assume it is a server problem. Not very encouraging! Thanks for the heads up about the educational licensing... Alas, I find myself no longer an educator or a student

Josh - how do you find VIPRE's updating behaviour? The connection to the server keeps getting dropped and I have to keep re-trying. It's very trying... if you follow!

This is the main issue causing me to look elsewhere. Otherwise I find VIPRE to be very good under Win2k.
