Seems to work fine here :)

It makes me wonder if it's the non-ascii directory names that are messing it up. Would you please try creating a non-ascii directory somewhere you have tried Leap of Faith that worked and test to see if it still works or not?

Sure thing.

When I put the Leap of Faith folder at the top level of a drive it was fine.  When I created a folder with a non-ASCII name at the top of the same drive and put the Leap of Faith folder inside -- this setup led to the  dialog box indicating a problem.

And I take it by the path tree that you're running Windows XP?

That is correct.

I'm watching (and rewatching) certain lectures and find that I'd like to be able to quickly navigate to certain points.  Unfortunately, the source video (DVD) doesn't contain very useful "navigational points" (chapters?).  I've ripped the content as I tend to watch using VLC / smplayer so I've got the video content in file form.  I'm wondering whether there are good ways for annotating or adding metadata to video files to enable easier navigation.

Does anyone have a recommended solution for something like this?

What I've tested out with some success is creating Matroska files with chapters.  I first tried AVIMux_GUI but found that somehow the times that I specified weren't quite right when I played back.  Then I tried mmg (from mkvtoolnix) with better success.

I've been working my way through and decided I'd assemble a list of links to the lessons as I didn't succeed in locating one.

The list is incomplete -- it'll likely be close to where I'm currently at :)

I was using ClipTrap nicely today when I accidentally clicked on the "Clear window text" button before making use of the content I was accumulating :(

Any possibility of an undo or option to confirm clearing of the window text?

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: ExplorerSelectionToFARR.ahk

Thanks for the feedback :)

I'm continually amazed by how it's such a pain to get apps to work together -- though am grateful that there are things like AutoHotkey (and its community) that make it at least doable in many cases!

FARR Plugins and Aliases / estf.ahk (renamed from ExplorerSelectionToFARR.ahk)
« Last post by ewemoa on January 01, 2010, 04:19 AM »
I put together estf [1] (ahk, exe) which tries to do the following:

  With a file or folder selected in Windows Explorer press a hotkey to bring up FARR and have the selected item appear in FARR

The hotkey and path to FARR's executable are configurable via an ini file -- they default to holding down the Windows key while pressing "s" and C:\Program Files\FindAndRunRobot\FindAndRunRobot.exe respectively.

It's got some limitations (e.g. it won't work when Windows Explorer is viewing things like "My Computer"), but it seems to work ok for many situations locally.

Perhaps other might also find it useful.

I heard a rumor that something like this may have been suggested before, but I didn't succeed in turning up the relevant thread(s)/post(s).  If someone else manages to find it/them, please let me know.

[1] Renamed from 'ExploreSelectionToFARR'.

Developer's Corner / Resources for learning git?
« Last post by ewemoa on January 01, 2010, 04:01 AM »
I'm making another attempt at learning git and am currently trying to read the following:

Pro Git
Git Community Book

So far they seem pretty good -- at least it's making more sense to me than the last time I tried ;)

Any git-using folks have any recommended git-learning resources?

If I extract the zip file with the resulting folder living on my Desktop (non-English system), I get a dialog box w/ title:

  "Game Startup Error"

and content:

  'initializeProject' function could not be found
  This could indicate a bad or corrupt common directory for your game.

  The Game will now shutdown because it cannot properly function

From elsewhere (say the root of some drive), it seems to be ok.

Somehow I found this most recent version harder...may be I just got lucky on earlier attempts :)

I've given it a try -- looks pretty nice so far  :Thmbsup:

One thing that doesn't seem to work for me is getting the search to launch.  I have FARR customized so that there's a setting for "Overide Default Internet Browser with Custom Application" under "Program Options" -> "Settings" -> "External Tools" -> "Custom File and Browser Tools".

What happens after I press the Enter key is that I get a dialog box with:

  • the title being a URL,
  • a circular red icon with a white 'x',
  • one line of text that appears to be the same URL as that in the title (e.g. for an Amazon search this might be a URL that takes me to a page for a book I presume), and
  • a message that translates as something like "Application Not Found"

Looks something like the image of the dialog I see at:

http://www.winhelpon...when-opening-an-url/

Does this sort of set up work for anyone else?

Regarding regular expressions, I found this thread to be useful at various points.

BTW, have you considered using XPath expressions?

N.A.N.Y. 2010 / Mni NANY 2010: DisablePortableAppSplashScreen
« Last post by ewemoa on December 27, 2009, 04:02 AM »
Here's my Mini NANY attempt.

I'd prefer not to see the splash screens for things from portableapps.com and I'd rather not have to manually disable them either.

Enter DisablePortableAppSplashScreen.

Just drop the portableapps launcher for a given app (e.g. FirefoxPortable.exe) on top and the AutoHotkey script will try to disable the associated portableapps splash screen.

Interested parties, please look here - both exe and source provided.

Thanks for the new build.

Initially it didn't look so good, but configuring the font to MS Mincho seemed to make things work out.

So it's looking more usable :Thmbsup:

However, in light of this issue, I'll give it a go compiling ClipTrap with it and see if it solves anything.

Site/Forum Features / Re: Updated threads in bold rather than with 'new' label
« Last post by ewemoa on December 24, 2009, 03:31 AM »
I've made a first attempt at placing the "new" icon and link before the topic title text.  This is just a proof-of-concept to let folks try out the idea -- no attempt has been made to ensure it doesn't interact poorly with other GM scripts of a DC persuasion.

I tested the following code w/ some success using:

  Firefox 3.5.6 + Greasemonkey 0.8.20091209.4
  OperaUSB 10.10

FWIW, I named the script "oenjjog.user.js".

Code: Javascript [Select]
  1. // ==UserScript==
  2. // @name          Oenjjog
  3. // @namespace       http://ewemoa.dcmembers.com/greasemonkey/
  4. // @description   Script to move "new" image and link to the left of the topic title text

  13.
  14. (function () {
  15.   var snapResults, j, elm;
  16.   snapResults =
  17.     document.evaluate("//a[2]/img[@alt='New']/parent::*", document, null,
  18.                       XPathResult.ORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE, null);
  19.   for (j = snapResults.snapshotLength - 1; j >= 0; j -= 1) {
  20.     elm = snapResults.snapshotItem(j);
  21.     elm.parentNode.insertBefore(elm, elm.parentNode.childNodes[0]);
  22.   }

I tested the following code w/ some success using:

  Firefox 3.5.6 + Greasemonkey 0.8.20091209.4
  OperaUSB 10.10

To install for Opera I followed directions I found at:

  http://www.opera.com/browser/tutorials/userjs/using/

To enable user JavaScript, use Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Content > JavaScript options, and select the directory where you will put your User JavaScript files. Opera will load all files in the specified directory whose names end with .js and will use them as User JavaScript files. If a file name ends with .user.js it will be assumed to use Greasemonkey notation.

FWIW, I named the script "gulgge.user.js".

Code: Javascript [Select]
  1. // ==UserScript==
  2. // @name          Gulgge
  3. // @namespace  http://ewemoa.dcmembers.com/greasemonkey/
  4. // @description  Script to change topic titles to bold if they have a "new" response
  5. // @include       https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/*
  6. // @include       https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/*
  7. // ==/UserScript==
  8.
  9. // possible places to test:
  10. //   https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?action=unreplied;start=240
  11. //   https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?action=bookmarks
  12. //   https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?action=bookmarks;mt=ignoredthread
  13.
  14. (function () {
  15.   var snapResults, j, elm;
  16.   snapResults =
  17.         document.evaluate("//img[@alt='New']/parent::*/parent::*//a[1]", document, null,
  18.                       XPathResult.ORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE, null);
  19.   for (j = snapResults.snapshotLength - 1; j >= 0; j -= 1) {
  20.     elm = snapResults.snapshotItem(j);
  21.     elm.setAttribute("style", "font-weight: bold;");
  22.   }
  23. }());

Hmm...may be this can be a Mini NANY entry...

The "New" label is a link to the most recent unread post in the thread, so it's quite useful.  ;)

I agree though I've felt for a while that it'd be more convenient in a different location.  For example, I think if it were to the left of the topic name, this would be likely to lead to less mouse movement as well as eye movement.
