The perennial question: is it now working better with those tricksy keyboards and apps?

It ignores my Kedit now

Thanks for the backup path!

I'll bet his list is longer than yours judging by his obsession with eBay!
Ah yes, but has he one of these?

Glad to see this.

Possibly I can help you with future forays. If you want to cut out eBay I'll send you a list of the electronic detritus that half-fills my basement  ;D

Living Room / Re: Why do we go out of our way to be unhelpful in forums?
« Last post by cranioscopical on September 28, 2010, 02:27 PM »
I'm not sure we do go out of our way, for some of us it's just second nature.  ;D

For example, someone will ask a question about software, and someone will respond with a link to the developer's site and maybe even regurgitate some information found on the website. To me, this usually indicates that the responder hasn't actually used the software, but just read the website and thought it would be helpful to post the information.
-superboyac
I believe that's a flawed assumption.

When asking for information, perhaps you need to define your terms with even greater clarity.
Frequently, I've found references to various sites to be helpful when seeking information, even if those who posted the links haven't used the software.

1.0.0.20
Run Auspex, can minimize Auspex.
Right-click icon -> Show, Auspex pops back up.
Can't now minimize Auspex, can minimize its about box.
Repeatable here.

(fine, until 1.0.0.20 arrived)

Fixed in Build 18+

So it is.
Should I be able to run multiple copies of Auspex?

(just toddling along)

What I'm thinking is that since the Pay What You Want was a promotional thing, that if anyone who has that version just wants to pay the difference between the current price and their purchase price, then I would go ahead and upgrade it ito a lifetime license.   Does that seem fair?
Yes, that seems fair.  So since I paid $20 for the Pay What You Want gizmo version, I could get a lifetime license for $19.95?  How would I go about doing that?  Wait for version 4?  Do something now?  I doubt that your ordering form has provision for this arrangement.
I'm in the same position.
The idea of paying the balance between the two amounts seems fair to me.
Personally, however, I have no idea what I did pay. Rob, would you have any record of that?
I've not used the program more than two or three times, but I'm all for supporting someone with a fair-minded attitude.

My version stopped working, and with no updates available, Helicon has become useless to me.
FWIW, mine's still going.
Checks for an update, but none is available.

Doing some really odd stuff.
Can create two folders with the same name

Also, within a folder group called MASTER:
I had one folder, called ONE
with sub-folder SUB-ONE
Then I dragged another folder SUB-TWO into folder ONE
So I had
    MASTER
         ONE
           SUB-ONE
         TWO
           SUB-TWO
Restarted Auspex
Now have two sub-folders with the same name
    MASTER
         ONE
           SUB-ONE
         ONE
           SUB-TWO

(and the other in a bowl of marbles)

@timns

build 14, XP SP3

Item 1
If I make a folder structure with the folders Lingo, Complete, and Replace thus:
  Lingo
  Complete
    completion item
  Replace
     replace item

and then try to drag the folders "Complete" and "Replace" into the folder "Lingo", I get access violations.

Item 2
If I have a completion word, learnt by Auspex, which is "Advertiser"
and then create a replacement item "ioa" to give "Impression of Advertiser"
then editing one of these items results in both being edited.

This might have been because I edited the triggers for completion without first restarting Auspex

Item 3
It is not always possible to create folders.
For example, with 2 folders already created, I cannot always create a third.
"New Folder" is created.
Auspex is restarted,
"New Folder" is no more.

Information
I use Macro Express, which uses keyboard hooks, and see no conflicts between it and Auspex.

Useful to have the tokens (and other stuff) in the guide, thanks!

No problem re the redmine thing. I'll have a go with KEdit (must admit it's not one I've ever tried before) and see if I  can reproduce/fix.
Demo version here if you feel up to it.

I'd be mildly inclined to vote against shareware.
It doesn't feel to me to be in the spirit of DonationCoder.
Donating copies to members doesn't change that for me (as it excludes everyone else).

Sorry, I'm too dumb to use this Redmine thing (anyone care to explain how to report something there?)

In my favourite text editor, Auspex introduces codes rather than performing actions.
In the attached example, Auspex had taught itself "Impression" and offered it after I typed "Imp".
Thereafter, every touch on the return key produced the (note) symbol.
Doesn't happen with other editors, so probably the answer is to exclude this editor from Auspex.

FWIW
On XP SP3, I don't share Perry's problem with [Return,Space,Tab].
As joiwind wrote, pasting replacement text overcomes the inability to add directly spaces, returns, etc.
On my (U.S.) keyboard, period remains as a period, it is not converted to a semi-colon.

So I can get the following by cutting and pasting (where the spaces following a number are the number of spaces represented by that number).

One two  three   four
.
What a hoot!

I just noticed this for the first time.
Looks interesting.

Tried going to http://www.etc.etc.com but encountered sundry problems, and so forth.

I know you wish to avoid over-burdening this but… given the context of fast, useful shortcuts, how about an option to paste (some of) the series of clips in a continuous fashion (rather like Skwire's ClipTrap)?

strangely enough, you can't really ask dcupdater to generically run automatic update checks.
only FARR has an auto update check that invokes it, and you can access that from the FARR options tab "Plugins and Updates".
Thanks! Now I can check to see if you have solved the problems I was having.

Call me dim if you must ( :o) but…

DcUpdater used to run automatically here but always failed. Following the failure, a relaunch ran mainly without problems. So, I stopped the automatic invocation of DcU.

I can neither recall nor find where/how to re-enable automatic periodic checking. Please, can somebody remind me?

This is satellite.
There's a spiffy new wireless tower about 400 meters from my house but I can't access that because I live in a forest —  I'd need to build a mast roughly the height of the Eiffel tower.

I'm delighted to be one of the lucky ones!

VueScan is something in which I've had an interest for a long time. Serendipitously, I recently acquired a scanner on the impressively long list of those that VueScan supports. So, I'm all set to go…

Thank you very much, brahman, for your comprehensive and comprehensible review. You can be sure that I'll be using it to help me get the best from VueScan.
Thanks also to Ed Hamrick for his generous participation.

Forget about stationery stores, you need carpet tape.
It's thin enough to attach paper labels to things and strong enough to hold well for larger items.
Sticky one side, removable backing.
Try a flooring company or your local hardware store.
