^ when I'm not logged in, this is what I see for the post above:

Images are shown in the forum at over 100% size when using [attach=#]. This leads to slightly unfocused images.
See the difference below:

Left side is as posted on dc (viewed in IE, without zoom) -- Right side is the original image in ScreenshotCaptor

Note -- due to the problem in question, you may need to actually save this image and view in a viewer to see the full difference.

On a different image-related note:

if I'm not logged in I cannot view the above image (post link):
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

yet I can see at least some other images while not logged in e.g. here:

Edit -- it seems to be just that image (that cant be seen when logged in) --
there's a hex on my images :-/

Ok i have tried to reproduce and cannot -- I suspect you have your browser set to be zoomed beyond 100%.

Well, I checked with PaleMoon, Firefox and IE (which I never use) and checked zoom as well in all three -- so I dont think it is that --
I wonder if it's something with this laptop :-/ I will check on the desktop over the weekend.

EDIT// anyone else seeing this?

yeah, very odd -- seems to be only that laptop -- will look into it...

^ I should have quoted -- yeah, basically you can use Win.7, 8, 8.1 key for a clean Win. 10 install

Microsoft’s Free Upgrade Rules Have Changed
Spoiler
Last week, Forbes contributor Gordon Kelly wrote about the “free upgrade” rules for Windows 10 changing in a good way. Now Microsoft has made it easier for users to upgrade to Windows 10 if you have a genuine copy of Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. Windows and Devices Group Vice President Gabe Aul said that an upcoming build of Windows 10 will let users register using existing keys for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.

“If you install this build of the Windows 10 Insider Preview on a PC and it doesn’t automatically activate, you can enter the product key from Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 used to activate the prior Windows version on the same device to activate Windows 10 by going to Settings > Update & security > Activation and selecting Change Product Key,” said Aul in a blog post.

Aul also said users can use the existing keys while performing a clean installation. This is convenient because Microsoft previously required users to upgrade by downloading and installing the operating system update after their hardware was registered and hard drives were formatted. This made the upgrade process very difficult so Microsoft’s help desk forums filled with complaints. Giving users more options to upgrade their operating system is definitely beneficial.

Anyone know how the "Windows 10 Free Upgrade Rules Change" ?

Had similar behavior, but when the original link was pasted in the location area and tried again, it worked here.

Perhaps there's some kind of redirect or cookie check?

ha, now it's working :-/

Yo, happy birthday Iain :-)

On my birthday some years back, I bought myself a Trek SL1000 (my eldest son chipped in $200 towards the cost). After riding conventional steel tube drop handlebar bikes, the Trek was my first encounter with a modern lightweight road/racing bike with some bits (front forks and seat pillar) made of of carbon fibre. I found it extremely fast and light by comparison

Sounds good  Was interesting to read about that guy's new bike too.
My old but quite good (and relatively light-weight) trekking bike got robbed in the woods last year. (I do have another 'bahnhof' bike -- one I can leave at the train station and not worry too much if it does get robbed or trashed). Was looking online lately at different options: I want one for the woods *and* the roads (I'm not a mountain biker though). Trekking bikes are mostly too heavy for my taste. There seems to be a new style called the cross-bike -- somewhere between a trekking bike and a road-bike in style and weight. Must try find one in a shop somewhere so I can see if it suits.

I believe this is to do with the system font size -- I suspect yours might be @ 150% (?)
With system font size here @ 125%, it looks like this (better than yours but still cropped in places):

I wonder how they will decide who is an 'average' uploader?
Cause that's what we're going to see as unpaid viewers.
If my video about saving a cat goes viral, will the google come down heavy and demand I join 'Red' ?

YouTube Will Completely Remove Videos Of Creators Who Don’t Sign Its Red Subscription Deal (techcrunch.com)

YouTube made its top video creators an offer they literally couldn’t refuse, or they’d have their content disappear. Today YouTube confirmed that any “partner” creator who earns a cut of ad revenue but doesn’t agree to sign its revenue share deal for its new YouTube Red $9.99 ad-free subscription will have their videos hidden from public view on both the ad-supported and ad-free tiers. That includes videos by popular comedians, musicians, game commentators, and DIY instructors, though not the average person that uploads clips.

It’s a tough pill to swallow that makes YouTube look like a bully. Though turning existing fans into paid subscribers instead of free viewers could earn creators more than the ad revenue, forcing them into the deal seems heavy-handed.

Re #2 --
you can modify hotkey for paste as plain text:

I'll forgive an anti-virus for false-positives if they make it easy to report them (and they do something with that info).
That's why I stopped using Avira (Pro) a couple of years ago. I wasn't sure whether to mention them here, because at least you were able to report, and they did do something about it -- and they may have improved/streamlined the process since, but at the time, the {amount of false-positives} + {the difficulty reporting} was too much for me.

After so many years, Naka has update CLCL.
http://www.nakka.com.../clcl/index_eng.html

thanks voxel

Can anyone give a quick summary/overview of what is epecially good about CLCL?
(Be it workflow, features, etc. whatever.)
I skimmed this and the other related thread but didnt really get a sense of that.
TIA :-)

Another query:
can it store vector clips? (I presume not, but dont hurt to ask)
