Alternatively you could turn off the automatic checking for updates, or set it to every week.  These options are available.

well, when all else fails, and before you trash it, give it another bloody good bashing and see if that helps, has worked for me sometimes, sometimes it doesnt, (ok mostly it doesnt) but if you've tried all else and the trash is the next step you got nothing to lose and its good for the soul and relieves tension ;)

Does anyone have an invite for this they could send me?  I signed up at the site some weeks ago and so far nothing, so I would appreciate it if someone has one as it might be just the solution i'm looking for, from what i can see it does what i need anyway, and at the right price (loves free  :-* )

The splodge is an elephant, they never forget.  I wasn't all that happy with the idea at first of a web app, but I've been using it for a while now, having tried surfulator and onenote and its just so much easier in my opinion.  It just seems to work and my notes are always synchronized.  As for the premium service, well, so far according to the stats page I've transferred 0.4 of a mb.

General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox 3 Bug
« Last post by Grorgy on June 28, 2008, 12:45 PM »
I haven't had a chance to see if it works here, I have uninstalled AM and have been really happy with the apparent increase in browser performance.  It is such a difficult program to adjust, it seems to block lots of obscure pages that many sites call, and it was causing me more difficulty than the ads did, I've gone back to ABP, at least when you allow a site, it allows it all.  It (AM) was also blocking something within the site of University I am going to, and that was pretty much the end of it for me.  And the cache clearing, well I would clear the cache and sometimes it would work for a while sometimes not.

I was /am? getting it on ff2, certainly the forum issue, and odd things happening with graphic intensive sites like deviant art, I've had vast improvement since i got rid of admuncher.

Edit:  just disabling the filtering didn't work, admuncher had to be uninstalled

The filehippo one will let you add custom locations so it works ok (its the only 1 i'm using)

General Software Discussion / Re: Stardock doesn't treat you like a criminal!
« Last post by Grorgy on June 25, 2008, 09:42 PM »
Yeah, stardock are pretty good, I use window blinds, right click and the icon thingy, I quite like the dock but i figure enough is enough FARR right click quick launch start menu lol. they have generous activation limits on their products, and if you reach them its a simple message to support to get it fixed up, maybe a brief explanation as to why you have activated so many times, i don't know, I've never reached the limit.

You will find a lot of the staff from stardock in the forums there too, yep even brad.

I read somewhere, sorry i forget where, but the old JRE versions do pose a security risk even if not being used, I don't understand how or why this could be the case, but it prompts me to clean them up.

well just to let you know, i have no idea what caused it, but for various reasons i was forced to reinstall windows and it works fine now, somewhat extreme way to fix it, its not what i'd do normally  but it was a happy coincidence  :)
