Stackoverflow.com, the site created by programming gurus joel spolsky and jeff atwood as gone from a closed beta to an open public beta and is worth checking out.

You can read the original dc discussion thread about stackoverflow.com here: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=13077.0

Basically the website is a community question and answer system much like yahoo answers but focused on programming-related questions.  Users can vote for questions and answers (like on digg) so that popular ones rise to the top.

And that's why I don't understand the stock market and the economics of the world. People are buying and selling imaginary numbers and for some reason the government has to take control of banks to keep the country from going into economic emergency?

Welcome to the wonderful world of capitalism!

Screenshot Captor / Re: Resize and/or Move the Capture Region
« Last post by mouser on September 14, 2008, 09:14 PM »
i always recommend people just capture whole screen and then size and move crop window from within sc, as i find that easier, BUT for people who want to do what you want, just go to options and change to Red Box capture mode for Regions:
Screenshot - 9_14_2008 , 9_14_55 PM.png

once you activated the red box capture mode for Regions you should see the new interface for capture regions which allows you to resize and move the selection region prior to capturing.

They now demand money from me with threats of declaring war if I don't pay up.
Definitely sounds like Cody has let all the donations go to his head.  :P

Living Room / Re: Spore Creature Creator Released - Make Cody Creature Contest!
« Last post by mouser on September 13, 2008, 10:38 PM »
As for who should win.. I think nudone has to call up cody and ask him.
My votes are for:
Deozaan and p3lb0x.
Deozaan for his first hillarious videos and super cute cody.
And p3lb0x for actually evolving his Cody race and taking them into space.

I can't remember if one or both of you already have a mug? If not then i say whoever doesn't have one gets it.

Special mention has to go to Stoic Joker who's evil cody creature definitely deserves to be evolved and go into space.

Hi Daniel, I'm just watching the tutorial now.  Very nice
Couple of observations:
  • First, very cool work on the tutorial -- that's actually quite fun (for those who haven't tried it, it uses MS wizard to give instructions and point out various features as it walks you through them).
  • Second, very nice work on the multiple base support, both in input and output.
  • And nice work with the tape measure history and history of past expressions.

always nice to hear when things work out right

DC Website Help and Extras / Re: Forum Guidelines - subjects to avoid?
« Last post by mouser on September 13, 2008, 10:05 AM »
Discussion about religion and politics is very frowned upon here on this forum (that would include debates about atheism).

Don't get me wrong, I encourage everyone to engage in vigorous debate about these issues, but just not here on this forum since it tends to divide us and not bring us together, and is not at all related to the things we like to focus on here.

Living Room / SplitWords - fun new flash word game
« Last post by mouser on September 12, 2008, 01:16 PM »
Split words is a compelling little casual word game, sort of similar to a word search, except you have to assembled pairs of partial words into full words that match a theme.

What makes it fun is that as you put together more words you have less and less pieces which help you solve the trickier words as the clock ticks down.  Quite good.

mr monkeyz -- we try to discourage links like this.. maybe instead you could edit your post and tell us about the site and the game rather than asking people to click on your link.
