Skwire's Text 2 Folders does just that

And if SnapDB is a bit too simple/limited (though quite useful in itself), then maybe DataCrow could be of your liking?

Mouser, thanks for all the hard work putting all these snippets together coherently as a newsletter, it's a good read again

Maybe limiting the cursor into the RDP control using ControlFence, but I'm quite sure some other DC hosted utility can already do that, I just don't remember the exact name

Developer's Corner / Re: Licences for free software without code
« Last post by Ath on April 01, 2012, 03:55 PM »
A few simple & quick idea's: (as in 'Protect what you have', a paper license is just simply ignored)
- Put the name, checksummed, in prominent places in the UI, and on/in any output created (if possible).
- Put some kind of licensing scheme in place, like the one by DC member josant, in his NANY2012 entry

Living Room / Re: I'm Going to Build a PC. Suggestions?
« Last post by Ath on March 31, 2012, 04:19 AM »
my opera had no problem
maybe the print link will work better? http://www.globalcom...95&Sku=A466-2214
Still not working (ends in some 404 page, according to the name in the final link), maybe because I'm not in the US of A?

edit: Even when opening www.globalcomputer.com I get that page...

I'm also thinking about this monitor, mainly due to it's 2ms response, size, price and the reviews are pretty good.  Thoughts?
-MilesOhToole (March 30, 2012, 09:21 PM)
Some of my browsers (FF, Chrome, Opera) think that link is a loop, so they won't open it (too_many_redirects), got another link?

General Software Discussion / Re: fr3 files
« Last post by Ath on March 29, 2012, 07:22 AM »
Google tells me that Fractal Explorer is the application that opens fr3 files.

this must not be correct
these files are Fast Report files
If you know that, why did you ask then? These generic questions are answered about 100 times faster using the power of da Google...

Got an e-mail today from O&O Software stating I'd be using an outdated version of their software :tellme: But I'm not using, or have used, any O&O software to date, so I'd better share this discount with friends who might need it ;)

Oh, it seems the prices in Euro's are exactly the same numbers with only the currency sign replaced

General Software Discussion / Re: Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9... cm vs. in
« Last post by Ath on March 28, 2012, 09:50 AM »
Opening a .png file using Paint.NET gives me the units which are set (by default) in Paint.NET, and it knows how to convert the resolution stored in the .png. If I change a setting, like Image/Resize, to be pixels/cm instead of the default pixels/inch, the next time it has remembered my choice. I like that behavior.
Most likely because of the age of PSP, compared to the age of .png, it doesn't have all this 'sophistication', yet.

Got any specific requests, Joe?

Few options:
Some of the apps may already exist or at least get close, and others may be possible to re-create with platform specific tooling, but that would require to know what platform you are buying 8)

Buy a Systembuilder Windows license, together/bundled with a mainboard, it'll save you around $75 to $90 from a full retail license.
2195
in TO DO list would love to add some more script formats
It's on the list*, just didn't write it in the post  ;)

is thr any possibility to import pdf also ?
Hm, that may depend on the pdf thrown at it. Some don't allow text to be copied/taken from them, depending on settings used during creation. I'll investigate that soon.

... wanted to keep the post alive .
No issue, just a few days of lower activity here because of other obligations :tellme:

+1 for nLite , should have been my 3rd option  ;)
2198
2 possible solutions:
- Create an image right after you've done all updates and settings, and restore that next time you need a refresh
- Use the Microsoft supplied install automation tooling (WAIK is the keyword I guess) if you need to run it on different hardware
2199
In the end, I know I didn't give Linux the try it deserved, but I realized that I didn't need to- that there was no compelling reason to switch.  So I haven't.
I think that is why 98% of ppl stay with Windows, including developers and other techies :)
