A 3-legged kitten? ;)

the fourth is Atlantis, silly :p :D

It actually looks like some sort of creature from the imagination of Lovecraft, truth be told, with that third leg being a tongue, and instead of playfully playing with the ball, imagining the ball as Earth, and the creature's tongue caressing it in a prelude to eating it.

Boy... that went dark.

And to depart that interrelational meta level: Some topics are dense, so if you try to treat them in completeness, you have to write quite a bit. There are posts of mine where your remark would have been quite pertinent, but here you chose a very bad example for your point: Any redaction here could have shortened the post only so imperceptibly.

And yes, I know that it gathers quite a bulk of elements, and that reading it cannot be but hard work, but then, my - as said above, partial - development is meant to exist for the few people really interested in the subject of (general, not-media-files-only) 3dimensional file access; for them, there's lots of very lightweight material on the web to be found, and some very technical, very partial info; I've been striving here to give some sort of overview which treats the multiple problems and aspects of the subject, be them obvious or more conceiled. Most of the time, I strive to give new and complete* information, especially whenever my own web searches have been totally unfruitful in this respect.

I think to Ath's point, there is something to be said about topics for mediums, and topics for audiences.  Forums aren't really made for long-form dissertations, but rather short-form discussions.  For long form, there are other mediums for them, i.e. blogs.  I'm not sure if dc still has blogs for members, but if so, then it might work to post your blogs on one, and direct from here to that resource.  It is in the end up to you and the management as to what can be posted, so I'm not even speaking to that.  But rather adding some objective clarification to what Ath may have meant.  Others do the same thing, and get, in general, similar results, so you're of course welcome to continue down that path.  But these seem like blog posts rather than discussion fodder.

I like it too.
Are we allowed give critical feedback on the visuals, or is that premature :-[

I'd say let's wait for them to get the guts of it done before deluging them with other feedback.  This was just a preview and not final.  JMHO

Finished Programs / Re: FINISED: Muting focused program with a key press

Maybe the latest version is better? It minimizes the volume mixer window.

I've tried it with YouTube in full screen, and that works OK. What programs have you problems with?

Yes, it works perfectly. Thank you very much. :DDDD

EDIT: It still minimizes games, for some weird reason.

If a game is in full screen mode, accessing other applications/utilities will remove it from that mode.  Have you tried full-screen maximized?  That was my solution, but I know that there is some reduction in performance in that mode, so not sure if that would affect you.

I think I understand most of the points you make above, but am confuzzled where you say:

But if you cross your arms in front of your torso and bring your torso down towards the curved handlebar, so that your hands have good grip on the straight part of the curved handlebar, the aerodynamic efficiency is almost equal to that of a mountain bike, there is no strain on any injured elbow or wrist and you still have the advantages of the city bike model.
- "cross your arms in front of your torso"? How does that work?

Hard to put into words in a post, even for a native English speaker.

I just unmount my SD card, mount it on my computer, and do my transfers with DOpus. :)

That too but since I have to pull the battery to get the uSD card out, I only use for big transfers, (eg. new ROMs).

Mine is thankfully very easy to pull.  But I made it harder by putting a case on it.  Go figure.

Anyone know how enable MTP mode on Galaxy S6? Can't get the phone being recognized by Samsung Kies even with USB debugging on

Normally, (in almost all Android devices), you pull down the Notification Panel then tap on the one that says Connected as ... when you have the USB cable plugged in.  That should take you to the option to set it for MTP, PTP, Mass Storage, or Charging.

When I have to type in a lot of stuff on my phone and get fed up with fat finger frustration I plug in my USB mouse using the adapter and click on the onscreen keys.  It is way faster since it is pretty much impossible to miss a key with the mouse pointer.  :)

Get a cheap roll up USB silicon keyboard.

I just got an iClever keyboard on prime day.  I had an iGo stowaway before that, but I think because it's getting old in the tooth, even though it would connect, there were some idiosyncrasies.

Nope.  One of the frustrating things about the site for me.

SendKeys() does not support Unicode.

See https://www.donation...?topic=44105.new#new for an alternative.

@wraith808,
Thanks again.

No problem!  Just sorry it didn't work; I didn't think about the fact that unicode could be the issue.

Next up (if I'll find some time in the next decade or so): x86 ASM and (more) COBOL.
x86 ASM I can relate to, but Cobol... remember wat Edsger W. Dijkstra said about that: "The use of COBOL cripples the mind; its teaching should, therefore, be regarded as a criminal offense." (ref)
(And Yes, I do know how to program in Cobol and can confirm/confess that Edsger's quote is true)

I also know how to program in COBOL.  It's not something I enjoyed or would do, but there are several people that don't feel the same way.  That statement is pure hyperbole, IMO.

On a personal note: To be honest, if I'm in a brick-and-mortar store, I've already done my online homework, and I am there for the express purpose of buying something that I need that day, and I am fully aware that I am paying for the convenience.  On many occasions I have gladly paid Radio Shack (R.I.P.) 5 bucks for a 75 cent part because I needed it today.  No data plan needed.

When I'm in a brick and mortar store, it's usually to spend time out with my family.  My daughter loves to go to Barnes and Noble, and I just hang out and sometimes see something I want, so compare the prices.  Same with Best Buy.  I don't go in to buy, but to browse.

Two posts where I showed my use of Fences if you're interested:

https://www.donation....msg386893#msg386893

https://www.donation....msg387094#msg387094

It wasn't so much a maturing past the use of it.  It's just that my workflow changed, as did my focus on computing.  I still think it's a great piece of software, and go back to it occasionally.

Sorry, "apparently broken" per @jeromg's comment (2012-09-22, 10:41:22) re searches on native Windows Libraries not working.
I'm not sure whether they are/were actually "broken", or if it wasn't Search that was broken. If native Windows Libraries were OK, then the solution to the requirement for VFs would be within our reach - I presume. Or maybe it's just too hard to use them easily/flexibly as VFs?

For me, it's the latter.  They work for me; I set it up for my wife as she doesn't 'use' the file system very efficiently, and I was trying to set up her back up plan.  I put OneDrive on an external drive, and wanted her to save her pictures and artifacts from photo shoots there.  I also back up that folder to the NAS.  But she'd forget, not be able to find it, etc.  So I set up a library to include it, and have it set to be the default place where her documents are saved, but also included her local documents in the library.  It's been working swimmingly.  But she doesn't search, so I'm not sure about that.

For me, it's a pain to set all that up, so I don't use it, as much as I'd like to.  I use tag spaces instead.

I think you're not getting the implications.  When in the physical store for Barnes & Noble, I sometimes check prices on Amazon.  Same in Best Buy, Costco, etc.  It's usually using the free wi-fi in the store.  This would prevent that while you're in the store and on their wi-fi.  I don't see what the use is other than to piss off customers that are currently on your store, however, as you could just turn off your wi-fi connection and use your cell phone's connection instead.  But there you go.

Playing the long game to shoot yourself in the foot.

Somebody posted about that on here a few days ago.  I passed on it- mostly because I get all of this free stuff and never look at it  ;D

But it is a good deal if you're going to use it. :)

I'm glad we could end on a better note

I can see my own part in this... one of my pet peeves (I suppose from my Libertarian and/or Centrist leanings (not sure what the difference is)) is people categorically saying things about my (or indeed others') needs.  But that's not really what you meant- it's my own failing at not being able to let such things go.

As far as Fences goes, I think I have an image of my desktop at the time around- I might try to find it.  As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, and I think it might do me well as my words fail.

Thanks for the conversation!
