One reason people might be posting to this thread when you otherwise might think they wouldn't notice it is because it was featured in the newsletter -- which always revives threads like this.

Developer's Corner / Re: Lets talk about GUIs.
« Last post by mouser on October 21, 2008, 03:43 AM »
The process of choosing a visual gui library is one of the more painful and confusing things you can do.. You are always playing a game of trying to balance many different concerns:
  • documentation
  • power
  • cross-platform support
  • cross-language support
  • speed
  • support
  • longevity
  • license

It's so hard to find a good balance for all of those things.. very stressful.

Hi twl845, and welcome to the site.

The latest beta verstion is 2.43.01 and is the first link on the top left of this page:
https://www.donation...hotcaptor/index.html

The confusion is because i sometimes release a beta version (like this one is) in an effort to get some testing reports before i officially publicly release it as a new version, which means there are 2 versions available, the last stable version and then the new beta version.

Im making my way methodically through all of my programs now updating them with the most important new feature requests.  Anything that plugin writers need will get top priority, so i'm happy to add this in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the nice summary.

if you delete both entries and then run farr does it recreate both, or just one?

I hope those who have been waiting so long for hotkey support will at least take solace in the nice features of it.

The nice thing is that you can set different hotkeys for different submenus in your launch bars, and bring those submenus up under the cursor.

This may mean that some people will choose to never display a dock on screen and just use LBC for popup menus.

In addition, you could configure some large non-docked launch bars that are more rectangular in nature, and keep them normally minimized to tray, and simply toggle their display with a hotkey when you want them.

New beta is up with a bunch of new features.

I just want to say again how great the new system is where you can select a task and then get presented with actions you can perform on that task.  Great workflow.

Actually looks like some pretty cool functions -- just watching some of the videos now.
I'm sure some people would really benefit from some of these functions, like the multiple url open, etc.

Sounds like a wonderfully fun project.  Perhaps you may even uncover some alien software or software blueprints that some coders here on DC might help you to reconstruct..

haven't tried it yet but it's very cool looking thing, and could be quite useful.

i still think that System Path Commander deserved a lot more attention than it ever got -- it's a prefect example of a program that does one thing REALLLY well, with a really clean and simple user interface.

Although the spoiler idea has some merit -- it would also mean that unless you could tell immediately if an item was of interest to you from the title, you'd have to do a lot more clicking to read summaries.

Well you outdid yourself this time -- really great edition.  This is clearly now a must-read thing on DC.

Your summaries and quotes are great if you just want to keep informed but dont want to go read the whole article.  And very cool how you link to forum discussions too.

i'll be releasing a new version this weekend -- i'll check this out and see what might be wrong, and make it so you can do #2 if it's not already possible.
