From your description, i'd say that SC is taking some time to take the screencapture, maybe pausing the game and taking the shots would help.

Actually, i got surprised that you could take any shots at all, i thought that was not possible in games ;)

masu: you mean if you use multimediamouse, next time you change the volume with the keyboard, that volume bar doesn't come up? Or is it that when you use multimediamouse and change the volume, that bar doesn't come up?

The large "Gallery" link at the top of the page wasn't obvious enough? :P
Interestingly, i also didn't find that link, i understood you meant that the photos were on the forum itself.

Anyways, VERY good material there, Dirhael! I think you should make a post here on the forum showing afew images of the great wallpapers in that site, i bet people would love to get new wallpapers! (i know i do :P)

I'm sorry, Glenbob, but here we support the idea that software makers should be payed.
So, if you want that program, you should buy it ;)

Here's how that could be done with XYplorer:
You open 2 tabs, one with the initial folder and one with the folder where you'd like to move the songs. Then, open the preview tab and when you select one, it starts playing. If you'd like to have that on the other directory, drag and drop it to the other tab.

I bet there should bet some program out there that'd do this in less steps.

The dude on the left is clearly our very own Tomos!
Well.. It could be, since any DC member is a hero, but it's more like a comics/cartoon kind of hero.

I think it's a really bad Elvis impersonator.
Not quite, Deozaan :P

PS: that specific little dude has a very cool white dog! (Also, probably non-european people will have more trouble to figure out who he is)

There are quite a few file explorers that have the preview function, i think that'd be the perfect solution.
Here are 2 options: www.gpsoft.com or www.xyplorer.com
Sorry, both of those are payware (but if you don't have one of them, you should have anyways :P), but i'm sure there are free alternatives!

Here's a funny idea, similar to what you're asking. Disclaimer: i haven't tried it.

You probably won't find anything that will input every single password for you, it'd require something like a keyring at the OS level, something that only exists in mac OS and linux, afaik. regarding the windows login, i think i know the best next thing:
Buy a fingerprint reader so that you can login fast, and get used to pressing windows+L, to block the computer when you're gone. (or remmap it to windows+space with ahk, like i've done, and it's really really fast to press)

Skrommel's Software / Re: DragKing vs Remote Desktop

kronhead: If you'd like dragking to ignore SplashID, just follow the procedure i mentioned above (using the .zip file i attached to my post).

As for the other problems, if you'd like, i could help you have DragKing ignore xplorer2 too, but i can't really solve any problem with dragking or modify it's behaviour since it's Skrommel's code, not mine.

Well, thanks for the upgrading option, I won't have to download the new version :D
That's probably not such a good idea. Last time i tried that (from 6.10 to 7.04), ubuntu srewed up a bunch of stuff and i ended up having to reinstall it anyways

Re: vmware workstation vs vmware player
There are a few differences. AFAIK, there is no support for things like snapshots in player, nor for vmware extensions (which make a huge difference when you use vmware workstation for work like i do and you keep switching between the real desktop and the virtual machine).

Re:virtualbox:
I had a few problems with networking in virtualbox, i had to reconfigure my network adapters to have it working. Interestingly, the first time i installed it, it worked out of the box. Also, vmware's networking also has a small glitch that annoys me: when i save the state of a machine and then resume it, the networking is lost.

Living Room / Re: these new cheap core 2 due laptops - any good?
« Last post by jgpaiva on October 21, 2007, 04:50 PM »
@Ralf:
When i mentioned batery life as not being important, i didn't refer to laptops with 6hours of batery life. As nudone mentioned cheap laptops, i removed ultra-portables and dells from the list ;) And these laptops currently suffer from the problem i mentioned: they come with 2.5hours of batery life, but 6 months after, they won't last more than 45minutes (at least from my experience)

I don't want (nor need) a top-of-the-line CPU in a laptop, though.
That's another interesting conclusion i've made: it's more vital to get the top of the line ram than the top of the line processor. When i bought my computer, there was the 2.0ghz version and the 1.7ghz version. I now regret not having bought the less expensive one and spending the difference in applying more ram to it, it'd be a more powerful machine.
2173
This is the kind of thing that can only be handled at the Operating System level, afaik.
Hibernation works by saving the "machine state", that is, the contents of the ram, the processor registers and the swap area. The first 2 of these are only readable and modifiable by the OS, thus making it impossible (probably not impossible, i bet f0dder could prove me wrong) or at least very very hard to make.

Here is a free site that creates blank virtual machines for VMware Player: http://www.easyvmx.com/
Thanks a lot, cchian!
I knew that site existed, and a similar site was posted here on the site some time ago, but i just couldn't find it.

Looks like the vmware option is on again, Darwin :P

Living Room / Re: these new cheap core 2 due laptops - any good?

From my contact with laptops, i'd say that batery life isn't an important factor.
When you're talking about a laptop that lasts 1.5-2 hours when it's new, on 1 year to 2 years, it'll be lasting less than half of that, so you'd better be used to using it plugged in.

As for disk, i wouldn't go for size, but for speed. It'll be the disk where the OS will be running from, and i think it'd be way worse to have a 4200rpm-200gb disk than a 5400rpm-100gb disk, because you can always win space with an external disk (which are pretty cheap nowadays) but speed, you can only win it by buying a new internal disk, which is way more expensive.

Concerning the ram... I'd say go for 2GB if you can. I upgraded my 1.5-year laptop to 1GB, and almost every day i find it not enough. (also consider the speed problem, laptop's memory is slower than desktop's memory, so you probably should try to get as much as you can).

For GPU, if you won't be doing any gamming, probably anything would do.

Concerning OS... XP pro!!!
