... eBoostr - I don't think I had heard of that before, either. Am doing some research on it now...

I should say it hasn't been updated for quite a while. Not that it needs to, I am just not sure it's being maintained / developed any more.

Thank you for correction on how to suck...

..., I take a suck-it-and-see approach.

Unless one is an arctic monkey, the term is suck in and see.

Thank you for the link to explaining Ready Boost - I never got it to do anything noticeable for me. Instead I have been using eBoostr, and is satisfied with this. Of course only because I merely have 4GB RAM - on my next PC I sincerely hope to access much more memory.

A new version 2.1 is ready, now with a normal trial; you don't have to first purchase the $1 program.

Sadly it didn't change anything for me. I am puzzled by the apparent fact that no one else has had the same problem as I am having. @superboyac, did you test it?

Found Deals and Discounts / Process Lasso Pro at GAOTD (Sept 28, 2012)
« Last post by Curt on September 28, 2012, 02:54 AM »
Giveaway of the Day - free licensed software daily. Process Lasso 6.0 - Process Lasso is NOT yet another task manager; it is a process, power, and CPU optimization and automation utility.
-28 Sept 2012

There are separate 32 and 64 -bits versions.

http://www.giveawayo...m/process-lasso-6-0/

You will receive one (1) month of free updates. After this, you must buy a license, continue using the build you have, *or* switch back to the Free Edition.

While you need NOT pay anything, we recommend you take the advantage of our offer to upgrade to a Lifetime License for only $21.95. This is a special offer.
Alternatively, we'll give you an Entire Home (up to 5 PCs) license with Lifetime Updates for only $29.95!
-Bitsum

The author is saying this (in post # 2):

I am grateful to have the opportunity to interact with the Giveaway of the Day community again.

So, what has changed in version 6 ? Well, Process Lasso has moved into the future – and continues to move that way. Its process setting automation (e.g. default priorities and affinities) as well as ‘watchdog’ rules (e.g. restart if virtual memory exceeds X), have grown as important as ProBalance. Speaking of ProBalance, it can now change I/O priorities, change core parking behavior, and more.

As for CPU core parking, Process Lasso now includes our simple ParkControl application to control CPU core parking on supported systems in *real time*. Note that this is for select supporting modern systems only.

Power Automation is a continued big part of Process Lasso, with the extension of Energy Saver and application power profiles. We believe this is the easiest, safest, and most efficient automation form there is. You can control almost all hardware options with custom power profiles, from core parking and CPU scaling to hard drive spin down time.

This give away, we are doing things a bit differently. Instead of every user getting the same key, each user will get his or her own Process Lasso key. You need simply sign up for it (two fields, name and email). We’re not spammers and don’t share this with anyone! This will let us give you more personalized service later, if needed. It will also allow us to track abusers while easily letting pass those who legitimately use their license.

Thanks to all who use Bitsum software. I endeavor to meet your needs! If you need anything, have questions, etc.. please let me know (email preferred, no guarantees as to answers on comment boards).

edit#4 (November 5'th, 2012): The author of the program has written me and asked if I could moderate my wording, because the program has more than 50.000 users but no-one else has ever reported anything similar to what I was complaining about when I first wrote this post. In all fairness (to DonationCoders) I am leaving (the rest of) the post as is, as it was, but must stress that I now have the new version 2.2, and it does not have the following problem:
-----------
original post:
-----------
hmm... this was terrible. At first launch, a license screen the size of a house popped up and totally blocked the screen! It really was gigantic; I could only see a fraction of it, and had no way to move it. I pressed Alt+Tab and killed it via my task manager. Now I am wondering if I should try again, or just use the "money return guarantee" ($1).

 :(

edit:

I tried again, but there is no way I can begin testing this program.

This is not the best way to begin telling a story...

Edit#2: A new version is coming later today tomorrow. Maybe...
Edit#3: The software author has asked me to tell that "my" problem is the first of its kind, that they have heard of.

-with Deluxe you can make morphs from many photos that the cheaper versions can't use, say, from a face in a group of faces, etcetera.

Besides:

Your purchase is risk-free because of our 100% unconditional 30 day money-back guarantee

The original story is dreadful. Errors all over.

1) Laputa... The Spanish word puta means little girl. Yes, it is also being used as slang for whore, but that doesn't change the innocent original, except for the dirty-minded.

2) Pajero: "Penis"? No, it does not mean penis   in any language!

3) Lacrosse is a game and nothing else.

4) Nova. Nova means new and has never meant no go!

5) Ascona. Ascona in Switzerland is located on the shore of Lake Maggiore. The town is a popular tourist destination, and holds a yearly jazz festival, the Ascona Jazz Festival.
Google Spanish-English Translator has nothing to say about ascona.

6) Fitta. There never even was a Honda Fitta!!

The Honda Fit or Honda Jazz is a five-door hatchback subcompact manufactured by Honda, first introduced in June 2001 and now in its second generation. The name "Jazz" is used in Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, and Africa and some parts of Asia, —while the name "Fit" is used in Japan, China, and the Americas.

Maybe the article was funny to some, but it is really not worth reading.

General Software Discussion / Re: Splinter
« Last post by Curt on September 16, 2012, 03:59 PM »
-thank you for the thorough and enthusiastic answer.

When I look at the various examples of Desktop Hotlinker Splinter features, I cannot help but wonder if most or even every feature could be offered as auto-hiding / auto-pop-out toolbars / buttons on the sides of the screen - just like any toolbar will offer? Or am I again missing a point?
 :tellme:

My reason of course being that I meant it when I said that I don't go to my desktop - why should I, I can never see it, because it is always covered by windows from the programs I am using...

At first I wanted to test your program, because I like to test programs..., but then I changed my mind because of all the "desktop" references... I NEVER go to my desktop; I have nothing to use it for, and the icons are hidden. But this leaves me in the dark, regarding Splinter, I don't know what I may be missing! So please tell if you think your program then can be of interest to people like me who doesn't use the desktop?

Also, I don't want to go to rapidshare. I agree, DeviantArt has made a big mistake!
