Screenshot Captor / Re: New user - trying to streamline the workflow
« Last post by mouser on February 28, 2009, 07:46 PM »
what version of screenshot captor are you using?  it seems to me that the latest beta may have an issue with these shift+prtscr captures.

ps.:
it's often most useful to disable that post-capture popup dialog if you know what you want to do.
you can have sc auto copy the capture to the clipboard and stay minimized -- that would streamline your workflow.
or of course you could go even faster if you just let sc keep capturing and saving each image and staying mininimized, and doing that in bulk before opening up sc and dragging and dropping batches of images to corel.

I've posted a new beta (1.23.01) with some improvements.

I expect to post another update in a day or two so you might as well wait unless you see something compelling in the version history or you want to help test.

The next update should have some advanced hotkey features, and i'll try to get the quick add note working, as well as another cool idea i had.

This was added recently, it brings up the main window and sets the focus to the search box, so it's good for quickly searching for clips.

well you can choose to tile your monitors differently to try to get the cell tiles to more closely match the aspect ratio of your images.

The Getting Organized Experiment of 2007 / Re: New Getting Organized Experiment?
« Last post by mouser on February 27, 2009, 10:09 PM »
I'm starting to get interested in the next GOE.. can we formally agree to hold it during April or May 2009, whatever form it will take?

I'll set up a new forum section for it and we can find a volunteer or two to spearhead it.

The free edition is great, but until 11:59pm today, you can get your hands the professional edtion for free as well, thanks to Easeus and MakeTechEasier. Professional Edition adds support for 64-bit Windows systems and the option to create a bootable CD or DVD.

i'd be very interested to hear from people who went from obsessive email checking to this kind of once every 3 hours approach, since i am very tempted to try to adopt such a plan, but im just not sure i could.

The best way to understand this new option is that if Crop Goal is "Fit small dimension", then you will tend to have images that fill the entire cell area, and aspect ratio is preserved, but where one dimension is cropped.  If Crop Goal is "Fit entire image" then the images will have some blank border around them in the cell so that entire image can be fit in cell area while preserving aspect ratio.

Try new beta download: https://www.donation...PhotoQuotesSetup.exe

New options you should use:
Screenshot - 2_27_2009 , 2_21_00 AM.png

Important: I know it's not the clearest thing, but what you want is to choose the combo of:
  • Crop and preserve aspect mode
  • Shrink maximally
  • Fit entire image

The "Crop and preserve aspect mode" is what keeps the aspect ratio.
The shrink maximally option tells it to shrink as it needs (you could adjust this to set limits)
The new "Crop Goal" value of "Fit entire image" is the key new option, which says that the goal of the shrinking is to fit the LARGER dimension, which will end up with blank borders on the short dimension if set.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: RecordIndex out of range error
« Last post by mouser on February 26, 2009, 10:59 PM »
image fixed (and can you make sure you are using the latest version of the program?)

the Access Denied error you site has been reported to be an antivirus related issue.. I wonder if you could try excluding the files in the ClipboardHelpAndSpell\Database directory from scanning by your antivirus program..

it's possible that all the clues are adding up to a problem with waking from sleep and an antivirus tool.  what antivirus program do you use?

assuming you can still go into the options, try "repairing" the database:
Screenshot - 2_26_2009 , 10_30_38 PM.png

if that doesn't help, and it may not, can you tell me more about when the error occurs? on startup?

you might try:
  • exit program
  • back up entire CHS directory so you have a copy of it
  • delete ClipboardHelpAndSpell\PresetViews\Last.preset.dock and Last.preset.grid and Last.preset
  • restart and see if error still there

if error still there, and you are willing to lose your current set of clips:
  • exit program
  • delete all files inside Database\
  • restart

id really like to understand why this error might be occurring so please let me know what works.

the hang and crash ONLY happens when you access menu?  if you don't access menu it will run find for a prolonged period?
does it matter which menu you open?
