I think you're hosed. The number of engines out there isn't very large. I have to switch browsers for some sites. Yeah, it's a PITA, but... Thank MS for destroying the browser market. Now we have vultures there, and not much more.

Just watched Cypher (2002):

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0284978/

An unsuspecting, disenchanted man finds himself working as a spy in the dangerous, high-stakes world of corporate espionage. Quickly getting way over-his-head, he teams up with a mysterious femme fatale.

MV5BMTkxMzg0NjA0Nl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNjg1ODAzMQ@@._V1_SY317_CR4,0,214,317_.jpg

Fun movie. Cyber spy... no more info. ;) I don't want to spoil anything. Worth a watch for fun. It gets better as it goes along, making it very worthwhile.

And Lucy Liu is just plain hot! :D C'mon... worth watching just for her~! :P

Let's suppose that someone was to say to me either:
(a) "Obama appears to be the greatest and most ethical President of our times", or
(b) "Obama appears to be the greatest liar and most deceiving President of our times".

"A" totally needs to be in the Silly Humor thread. :P

But just about any president's name would suffice... :P ;)

Living Room / Re: Against TED talks
« Last post by Renegade on February 27, 2014, 09:04 AM »
I for one consider the Ted talks is just like the Internet : there are a lot of good things there if you know how to filter out the stuff you either don't need or don't care about.

I learned about a lot of interesting things from Ted talks, so i cannot say it's a bad thing, you just need to learn to filter through all the information (this is something you have to do with most information sources anyways).

Also, sometimes you can see things from a different perspective (different from what you're used to anyways) and that is never a bad idea, you pretty soon realize things are usually not black or white but lots of shades of gray (more than 50 :p )

Sure. There are a few decent things in TED Talks. But it's like rooting through a manure pile to find a penny.

Sorry - I'm just not into collectivist propaganda pushing us into a socialist/fascist totalitarian surveillance state. That's what TED Talks is.

I don't mind listening to different perspectives, and I do watch TED Talks, but they're vastly weighted with ideas that are utterly unacceptable. Or at least the implications are unacceptable.

Lots on there about Big Data... yeah... how's that working out? We're better off without it. Nah... TED Talks is just to find out who your enemy is...

Probably a bad comparison. The world would be a better place without the UN.

No. I think a public forum where an idea can be presented, or an argument entertained, is better than no public forum at all.

Perhaps. If getting gang raped by Satan and a legion of buzz-saw cocked demons is better than never getting laid at all...

As far as the UN goes, the world would be a better place without a lot of things political. Unfortunately, most proposals I've heard are 'solutions' that are worse than the problems they hope to address.

And therein lies much of the problem. The UN is the source of more problems than it creates.

And I'm being kind to the UN... It's worse.

We don't need a forum of demons chaired by Lucifer deciding on anything.

Again, if anything, I'm understating the case...

But few people ever take the time to look into what they UN actually does.

Just tonight I was out at a cooking class that took place at an elementary school. What I saw on the walls AT AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL was more UN pure evil.

And TED Talks are just podiums for the same sickness, decay and evil that we see out of the UN.

Listen to TED Talks... then RUN! Know your enemy.

But, like the UN, I still think (in the absence of anything better to take its place) it's important that a gathering like TED continue to be around.

Probably a bad comparison. The world would be a better place without the UN. Maybe a better comparison would be "Windows", though Windows 8 makes that pretty sketchy.

New client coming:

http://cynic.me/2014...coin-client-preview/

MithrilMan in the BTF is creating a new client for Huntercoin. It’s not ready quite yet, but I had the chance to test it along with 2 other people. The game client is coming along really well, and is extremely smooth.

Multiple accounts.

Use of VPNs.

Use of multiple browsers.

Multiple OSes.

Running my own email servers with multiple domains and accounts in addition to other email accounts on servers I don't run.

More accounts that I can count all securely managed.

F**k them. I turn the tables and let them know what I want them to know.

Well, this isn't really exactly "Bitcoin", but is is VERY relevant. It's what you can do with "Bitcoin" the technology...

Huntercoin.

It's a crypto currency game. It's the future of gaming. It will revolutionize gaming from here on in.

Bitcoin is the future, and Huntercoin is the proof of concept for the wider application of crypto currencies.

I know a lot of you are still skeptical...

Check this thread and this thread.

Huntercoin is a game where you can get PAID to play! Seriously! It's craziness! I cashed in about $250 USD today! Really! And that was just a small portion of what I made in the game! It's just bonkers! I don't mean to gloat, but yeah, I'm going to gloat for the sake of all the skeptics out there! :P Nyah nyah~! :P :D Hahaahah~! :D

<----- SEE! Even CODY loves coins~!

I WISH I COULD GET PAID TO PLAY VIDEO GAMES.

How many times did you say that when you were a kid? I KNOW you did. Every kid did.

Now, I'm not a big gamer, and I already do get paid to play some games (I do work in the gaming industry), but this? This is entirely fresh, innovative, imaginative, new, supendous, incredible, heroic! Or FIINISH for short.

In Huntercoin, you run around the map collecting coins and stealing coins from other players. You return to your spawning area to cash out your coins. BUT! On your way back, people will try to steal your coins. So, you need to be smart about it. You need to use some strategy. etc. etc. etc.

And the entire game is played on the blockchain - a cryptographically secure ledger.

If you have some extra time, and think you'd like to make a few coins, then this is a no brainer.

Now... For the skeptics...

You heard about Bitcoin.

You might have heard about Namecoin.

Perhaps you have heard of Digitalcoin.

They all have functions over and above being a currency. They all innovate in some pretty wild ways.

Huntercoin brings a new innovation to the table where you play games in the blockchain, have fun, and make money at the same time!

Now... Someone please tell me why crypto is going to fail! :P I dare ya~! :P ;D

Get in on the game before the bots do. ;) :P

And this is just 1 new innovation in crypto currencies. What else will come out next? What else will we see? I bet few people saw that one coming! :D

Well, I sold off a small number of the coins I have, and made 0.17 bitcoins, or a bit over $150 USD.

Ooops! Make that about 0.27 BTC and almost $250. For playing a game. :P ;D Hahahaha~! ;D

This is just craziness~!

I received your HUC. And I think I created a character, but I don't see myself in the game, and I don't know how to actually play.

I actually saw you post in the chat before you left it.

You just run around and collect coins. Take them back to the spawning area to cash them out, and repeat. You can kill players as well. Lots of strategy to be used in there. But, I've been playing a bit more. :D

The forum thread said it takes forever if you're not using an SSD

Ah :(  Not using an SSD, and don't have one. :(

I'm not sure that you NEED an SSD. Just see if you can get it running.

I figured out how to "play". . . sort of. It's like the slowest and dumbest MUD ever.

I'm not sure it's worth it.

Well, I sold off a small number of the coins I have, and made 0.17 bitcoins, or a bit over $150 USD. Given the current exchange rate, I gave out about $25 worth of coins here.

When was the last time you got PAID to play a game? ;) ;D

But you're best off to play with multiple players. That's why I gave out way more coins than I said I would above (and that I'd collected more by the time someone posted). You can then make quite a few, and gather some coins, stand to mine on the spot, use some to destruct and kill players to steal their coins, etc.

There's quite a bit to the game if you play it some and figure out the strategies in there. Choke points. Fastest paths. Intercepting players at constant speeds. Killing other players & stealing coins - worlds of strategy here. I've got a few tricks in there to get coins and escape AND to cover my tracks so I can't be caught or intercepted easily. Stand on a coin spawning point to collect them as they appear. Lots in there. It's half action and half strategy. Real-time turn-based.

And at market rates, I made almost $300 today for playing a silly game! :P

$300 USD? Can you actually trade it for cash, or is that just a theoretical exchange rate?

That's based off of what I saw people buying/selling in the forums. There's no formal exchange yet, so it's basically whatever anyone will give you. But people pay in other currencies, e.g. Bitcoin, Litecoin, etc.

It only took me about 30 minutes to sync, and it started at "3 days behind". The forum thread said it takes forever if you're not using an SSD, so I made sure to put the program on my SSD.

SENT~! :D

Same here... It's merge mined, so... kind of rough. I don't see any pools where you can simply mine just this. I'd do it if I could. But, it seems that the primary mining is done by humans through the game.

Man... you have the worst luck...

Make sure that you've downloaded the most recent client. Also, in the appdata directory, delete everything except the wallet.dat and conf file. Restart - you should be good then.
