Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Batchmulticlipboard
« Last post by mouser on March 03, 2009, 06:38 AM »
there are a few clipboard tools that do what you want..

you can do it with my Clipboard Help+Spell, but it will take a couple more steps then you have suggested.. (i wonder if it isn't worthwhile for me to add a couple of hotkeys to make it work exactly like you say)..

Anyway, to do it in Clipboard Help+Spell you would:
  • Capture multiple clips normally with Ctrl+C, over and over again.
  • Bring up this CHS window (using hotkey or menu)
  • Select the clips you want to merge, and hit merge button (or choose it from menu)
  • Confirm the preview is what you want (change the separator string from \n to whatever you want), and hit Ok.  The merged clip is now in your clipboard.
  • Paste it into your target application with normal Ctr+V

If you don't actually need to do the merging part all that often, that workflow is fine.  If you were often merging and pasting 5 clips at a time though, then your hotkey only workflow might be a real win.  Maybe it's worth me adding some optional hotkeys to tell CHS its the START of a multi clipboard merge, and then a hotkey for the END of multiclipboard merge and paste.

Alternatively i could put a submenu in the Quick popup menu to merge start and merge end.

OR alternatively when i could do is change the workflow to:
  • Copy as many clips as you want
  • Bring up the quick paste menu with single hotkey (ctrl+alt+q by default)
  • And then hold control key while you select a clip in the stack to to tell CHS to merge all clips from that one forward, and paste it.
  • Now that's not a bad idea at all.

Target may be right, as long as you avoid trying to copy those bad files your antivirus should let you copy the good ones.

as you say the best thing to do would be to
1) scan the cd with the antivirus tool and make note of all infected files.
2) *VERY* CAREFULLY: disable the antivirus program and COPY the non-infected files from cd to hard disk folder
3) re-enable the antivirus and scan copied files to double check

You *REALLY* have to be super careful with step 2 -- if you accidentally double clicked on one of the infected files while you were copying them with the antivirus off and launched it, you could infect your pc.

Living Room / Web Talk: Neat Technology Blog
« Last post by mouser on March 02, 2009, 09:47 PM »
We don't do enough posts about new small sites and blogs.   Here's one that I was emailed about by the author.  Looks neat.

the whole philosophy behind Web Talk is to deliver to you the best news…in pills. Many people don’t have a lot of time to spend in front of the computer nor do they want to read long articles about new software, online services or interesting web sites. I like getting straight to the point and I do believe that the only way to achieve that it’s to give concise, brief, accurate and verified news.

ok thats clearer now.

in your tcleggdrop_mcps_sitesettings.ini file
have you set a value for default encryption key?

in other words have you removed the # commenting out this line:
#set mcpskey(defaulte)

that might be one way it could happen.

There is also the new Ctrl+T hotkey to bring up tray menu when you are in the search edit box, which makes it easier to bring up Bakko.

That would be appreciated too of course, but it won't add to the fundraiser thermometer, only "new" money coming into the site does that.

From downloadsquad today, an article on badly named programs:
Since I started writing here at Download Squad, I've come across tons of great new programs. I've also encountered some bad ones, and some that never got the chance to strut their stuff. Why not? In some cases, it had to do with how the developers chose as a name for their apps.

Now, I'm not questioning how these applications perform, their price tag, or anything of any real, practical concern. Some of these might be quality downloads. That said, let's have some fun. Here are 10 application names that warrant reconsideration.

I have been striving for recognition of my bad naming skills for many years.. How could he miss "Find and Run Robot" or "Clipboard Help and Spell".. not to mention the sheer genius of my "Desktop Coral" tool?

I HAVE BEEN ROBBED OF THE FAME THAT SHOULD RIGHTFULLY BE MINE I TELL YA!

i'm not quite sure i understand what is going on..
are you saying that the script is itself encrypting stuff using the wrong key
or are you saying that when someone types using an encrypted key that the server doesn't know, the server repeats it and so no one can read it.

ok so you are saying that it's showing the image but the left and right sides are cut off?
if so then that sounds like a bug, since the settings you have set mean nothing should get cut off.

It may not be the *most* powerful renamer, but it's no slough either, and its one of the most convenient and easy to use.
