Screenshot Captor / Re: Copy image as JPG to clipboard
« Last post by Ath on September 12, 2012, 05:40 AM »
That is quite easy:
- Open Preferences
- On the page 'Image File Format' you can select JPG (if you want jaggies in your screenshots) or PNG (for very nice and compact screenshots)
- On the page 'Post-Capture Options' you can select 'Post Capture - Actions' / 'Copy Image to Clipboard', and set other options to your wishes

Assuming Windows Vista or 7, you can add a Scheduled task (wizard in Control Panel/Administrative tools) to run at Log on, and specify the program to run. That should avoid the daily UAC prompt.

Worked around a proxy issue regarding the location time and update check
      functionalities.  (Thanks, Ath)
These issues are fixed now, at both my regular, proxy-'protected', locations

Hm, this might be proxy-related (simple no-password http proxy) but that has worked before, I also couldn't get the automatic updates where I am now :( might be some silly network configuration issue.

+ Added an option to display a location's local time in the titlebar.  You
can also customise the date/time format string using the standard AutoHotkey
      tokens found here: http://www.autohotke...mands/FormatTime.htm
      (Thanks, Alex)
Euhm, what local time is it supposed to display? My local time or the selected location's local time? It seems to display my current local time, independent of the location selected for display on the main screen (I switched locations using the scroll-wheel and from the Locations menu).

Announce Your Software/Service/Product / Re: IntelliDebugger
« Last post by Ath on August 31, 2012, 09:28 AM »
Mikhail,

Welcome to Donationcoder!

That looks like a nice start of a new debugger, is it also applicable to other than C++ code?
We've been pleasantly surprised by the BugAid debugger, a few months ago, and it seams to me you're fishing in the same lake ;)
You have a few features different, compared to BugAid, and I hope your product gets to a similar maturity level as theirs (I have no connections whatsoever with each product, the more the merrier :D), maybe it would be possible/proficient to combine the use of both!

Very interesting tool, but, as usual I'd say :), I have a few feature requests:
  • #ask# with several options, resulting in a combobox with the predefined values to choose from (or #select#:item1:item2)
  • date and time formatting options
  • moar #var# predefined variables, like environment vars, system parameters, etc.
  • variable replacement in rtf files
  • additional, configurable, file extensions allowing variable replacement

(when more things come up I'll toss in a new post)

Developer's Corner / Re: Adding controls smoothly...

Use the databinding features of .NET, it will lazy-load by default (afaik) when loading lots of controls, and it'll fetch & display 'Just In Time', when using controls like comboboxes etc. Using WPF for the UI might help too.

I'm stuck here and don't have the smallest idea how I will continue.
We're stuck without any further application details, and, as I said, often the title is set programmatically, so it would need to be reset if changed by some internal cause/reason/event.

A lot of software sets it's Window title dynamically, so one of the solutions suggested by Krishean is probably most effective.

+ Added status bar mouseover conversions for all values that can be converted.
Hover your mouse above a reading, e.g., the current temperature, and the
converted value should appear in the status bar.  (Thanks, Ath)
Great feature, thanks!

What do you all think of this layout with buttons at the bottom?
 (see attachment in previous post)

Only if the 5-day preview could be turned off 8), the current height already is about the maximum height I would want to allow it on screen.

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Diagnose problems in windows file sharing on LAN
« Last post by Ath on August 14, 2012, 11:41 AM »
Welcome to the site, Jim

I have searched widely for a tool to diagnose why windows file sharing sometimes stops working.
What are you talking about? Ever since I'm using Windows 7 I've never seen this kind of issues. And even with Windows XP it was very rare, and only when XP had been running for weeks on end without a reboot.

  • What OS are you on?
  • Have you updated all your drivers for hardware? Windows Update does not have lots of network drivers up to date, device manufacturers usually do
  • Is your Windows fully up to date with the latest service packs and updates?

I'm very pleased with the way sWeather has developed. Nice

There's only one, maybe rather big, feature I'd like to request: A setting for Fahrenheit or Celcius/Metric per location, so I can easily see, and optionally quote, the 'actual' temperature for locations in the non-metric using parts of the world ;)
A possible alternative for this feature could be a tooltip displaying the 'other' value then the default display-metric, when hovering the mouse over it. A quick calculation from F to C or back would be just fine, polling the Yahoo API twice would be overkill, IMHO.

You could try CSV Editor that has a lot of options specifically for csv files, also available in a Unicode-edition, and on top of that is free software :)

Problem is that you seem to have to restart all instances of Firefox...
Guess that's the reason you got no reply to your previous, and same, question, before... (Firefox says: "No, can't do" ?? )
