I've been using Open Hardware Monitor. It's not in the tray, but is pretty good.

http://openhardwaremonitor.org/

Damn! ...And no install required - Me Like!

But what is the 0CT103 trying to tell me? It says I can rename it, but I've not a clue what it is.

I like the idea of hiding things in plain sight. Like having two women on Facebook having an ongoing pissing contest over their children's minor scholastic achievements...that should bore the hell out of anyone in no time flat. However if each child and achievement is actually a weighted reference to something else, well... (slang is such a funny thing) it all becomes a matter of what's not said.

Now if we can just find a judge that is astute enough to fine them for contempt of reality while throwing this nonsense case out we can get on with the process of trying to find a glimmer of hope for our currently seriously jacked-up excuse for a society.

Not to sidetrack my own topic...but I had not realized that they had gotten 3D printing to scale out this far:

Don't recall seeing this mentioned elsewhere on the board, so...

NASA is looking into creating a 3D food printer.

3D Pizza Printer Prototype.

So it looks like Star Trek wins again...unless Dominos decides to sue. :D

Good to know - Bummer they didn't just drop the silliness.

When somebody hasn't done anything wrong, and you want to punish them, you don't drop it. You simply sick the dogs on them and ruin them in court through lawyer's fees, lost time, etc. Whether or not you win doesn't matter. You've still ruined them.

Indeed, as I've covered in comments elsewhere on the board. Once you're in-the-system...you are hosed .... Regardless of whether or not you "beat" the charges.

Another example of "emergency" powers being abused

"The UK has a rather lopsided extradition arrangement with the US that was put in place in the context of the 'war on terror'. Under the arrangement, the US can demand the extradition of a UK citizen to face charges there without probable cause. The reverse does not apply."

Some TV shows may qualify as "atrocities" but it strikes me as abusing the "arrangement" to use it to demand extradition of this guy. Isn't there any way of repealing it? Or at least balancing it out?

THIS.  I hate that this set precedent. :(

Given that I primarily think in pictures as words to me are a rather slow and clumsy way of expressing ideas. My inner monologue is primarily dark humor and profanity. Most if is/can be related to (picture in my head) image quality, other bits are related to who/whatever is interrupting my (frequently tenuous) inner train of thought. Then there are the Free Association updates...that frequently result in my laughing at inopportune moments.

For those apps that auto start using less common techniques to avoid detection/removal sometimes you need to resort to [url=http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx]AutoRuns

+1 - I usually start there.

Whose side are you on?  Or do we have a lot of extroverts here?

Don't expect the introverts to respond. ;) ;D

Can't say I got 100% on the "test"...but I did get an 'A'.

Check the power-source (low voltage? ), and possibly new office-equipment sending out 'bad vibes' over AC-power.

+1 - Just had one awhile back that would reboot every time the client printed...or a fax came in. Turns out they had a multifunction laser printer plugged into the UPS.

Edgy PSU also sounds plausible.

The NYPD Division of Un-American Activities

Now there's a name that's more than just a bit chilling. All they need now is a list of properly American Activities,  a "study" that shows the "proper" participation levels, and they should be ready to start rounding up people "decenters" in no time.

Did/does Windows 7 support TPM? Yes. The BitLocker drive encryption is dependent on it. The more important question here I think, is does you hardware have a TPM chip?

Honestly I'm more than just a bit skeptical about the articles claims about what TPM is capable of. Seems more like they're lumping several different (and somewhat unrelated) technologies into one story with just a bit of straw. The phrase "jumping at shadows" comes to mind... *Shrug*

Remember there was a time when hardware based viruses were discovered and folks yelled for an encrypted/protected boot sector ... Now they have one ... and they're mad about it. I really just don't get that part.

So now that "We know that they know that we know that they know that we know" etc, the U-Word is here, so they could still be nasty enough to nuts-kick it like Renny likes to say, but they *can't un-do it*.

I hear Ya man...I really do. And maybe I really am just subconsciously trying to defend my "right" to be a stupid lazy American. But I just friggin tired of the ever vigilant necessity to constantly have to fight with some special interest jackass, or aspiring world dictator for the basic rights that this country was (allegedly..?) founded on.

As Ren has said many times: Don't want your rights taken away? Then don't piss on somebody else's. But we have this constant drone of ass-clowns that want to be protected from their own stupidity but constantly and consistently gagging to get more dumb-f***ing laws on the books that serve only to beg to be abused.

Why?!? WTF is wrong with these people??

They just had some crap on the news the other day about a kid that is now "facing charges" because he punched a bully. Pat the kid on the back, commend them for growing a spine and Let. It. GO!!! Because otherwise we're just going to breed yet another useless generation of sniveling idiotic litigious cowards.

Update: In response to EFF's FOIA lawsuit, the government has released the 2011 FISA court opinion ruling some NSA surveillance unconstitutional.

 ...So...isn't that the same FISA court that was giving - Instead of Just Saying No.. - them the warrants to do the sneaky unconstitutional stuff in the first place?

It's still better than a kick in the balls, which is all we've been getting so far...

Bummer ... I was hoping I had/was missing something. But it does at least imply a glimmer of a conscience on FISA's part.

Well, as it was all done in secret, we don't know just how bad things are. The FISA court might not be as complicity in the criminality as we're guessing. Who knows? They've not released any of what they've done yet, and we're only getting a tiny glimpse into the crimes they've committed. It might not be all that bad on the court's part... (Perhaps I'm just being naive and hopeful... dunno - we'll see [or we won't].)

Quid Pro Quo - Since the constitution is out the window and "We the People" are faced with proving our innocence at gun point ... It's only "fair" that they be given the same treatment. Our evidence? Their Guilt by Association with Zero Degrees of separation with those that are systematically destroying the American way of life ... No trial is necessary.

The benefit of a doubt that was wasted a decade ago in trusting them to actually lookout for the wellbeing of the American people was obviously foolishly unfounded. So it is now time for assholes and elbows to be seen headed out of town because the lynching needed to be started promptly at friggin' yesterday.

The NSA (and friends) should be disbanded and then publically disemboweled as an example to any other "well intended" secret agency that might be thinking on making a bid for world domination. Then a statue of its fetid carcass should be raised in the center of any town that is large enough to have an MLK street, road, avenue, lane, park or boulevard ... To make god damn sure nobody EVER forgets and decides to try that shit again.

From what I've seen however, I think it's more due to the increased number of "new generation" employees they have working for them that have spent much of their lives hiding behind a computer screen and have now grown up to be acutely uncomfortable in one-on-one or F2F situations.

One step closer to the Matrix - People are more "comfortable" away from each other ... They should be storing us in pods in no time..

The download site doesn't inspire trust...and a 36MByte file size is not helping either.

O_O Zoiks!

Fair call guys. I mentioned the size to my brother and he has fixed it, he said this:

"J D: its because when you delete one of the big scans it leaves a blank record where the old record was. So I've put Vacuum command at start of every run which solves it"

How is that going to impact the (somewhat massive) size of the executable file itself? I can see a little bloat (1, 2, or even 5MB) if it was a debug build ... But 36MB just seems awfully...well...huge ... Especially for something that is generally considered to be portable in nature.

The network scanner I usually use (Angry IP Scanner v2.21) is only 108KB.

+1 on the sad reflection. Society is wound way too tight for their own good ... I honestly think they cause half the problems with their constantly repressive nonsense. If it's part of nature (e.g. natural), why is it such a problem?

Whatever the country or governing political party, this form of protectionism would rather seem to indicate the actions of a puppet government, to me.

+1 - Me too. I just wonder when/if our corporate masters will decide to come out of the shadows.
