Could you copy everything that is printed ? May be there is a little more than the code... something like asyntax error might be...

Just a word to tell that you can consider fscript under the lgpl, mit license or even the even the WTFPL as you like, in case I disappear somewhere.

Developer's Corner / Re: Git: converting svn repo & stuff
« Last post by ecaradec on July 28, 2010, 08:48 AM »
After looking at it a little bit, it seems that git history must always be complete, there is no way to push half of a branch or have a partial repo (except shallow clones but they have limitation, that doesn't make them suitables as repository ) . But you may cheat by using grafts to stitch your history : http://bugsquash.blo...g-git-histories.html . If I remember correctly grafts only exists on your local clone and can't be pushed, it might be what you're looking for.

you might rebase -i to rewrite you public branch, usually people do this before pushing in public to clean up the mess. It's might not be super easy to merge back changes from the public branch if other people do changes though.

The installer can only install plugins when the browser start : if the browser was closed when you ran the installer it'll work immediatly. It's explained in the post install page (but if you ask, it's probably not clear enough ).

I could force to close the browser so that the addons install immediatly, but I often have my browser open with tens of tabs and I wouldn't like that an installer close them all.

I looked at the page, and I think there might be interaction with the webpage which swiffout can't handle right now.
208
I'll look at the fifa page as soon as I can lanux, but I fear it'll be too late.

The difference between the 1.3.0.0 and the precedent version is the unrestricted use of swiffout on swiffoutgames :
So if you have a already working version, you need to install a new one so that it works on swiffoutgames without limitations.

SwiffOut now has a sister website http://swiffoutgames.com where you can play flash games fullscreen for free (swiffout is unlimited on this website, it will not display dialogs or expire ). SwiffOut Games is also integrated with SwiffOut to make things a little bit easier.

I also changed the limitation, you can now try SwiffOut ten times on websites other that SwiffoutGames. I think that, it makes more sense, since you may use SwiffOut Free for a long time before trying it to use it on other websites. It also means that the expiration time has been resetted, so if you tried a version before you can download the new one and use your ten plays when you want to.

I filtered a lot games and found some great ones, if there is some games that you really like, tell me and I'll try to add them.

very nice, thank you

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: FLua: FARR Plugins Using Lua

Actually I was talking about lua libraries which I saw you can use in sources. Calling DLL would be neat too, but lua libraries open a lot of doors already.

It takes a lot of time and a lot of devotion to make forum live. I think I have know dc for at least one year before I posted something. It's harder to benefit from a forum than from other website because you have to engage a little bit.

Some forums where to become a member you have to post at least once to present yourself (it helps to break the ice ).

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: FLua: FARR Plugins Using Lua

This rocks ! I didn't know any lua, but I heard it's a great language and FLua is a native port (not activescripting ). People won't probably notice, but this will certainly prove much more flexible. Now I have a very good reason to learn Lua.

Do you know if FLua can use external libraries from lua ? That was lacking with FScript.

It certainly was a lot of work, even starting from FScript code... Thank you so much !

No I'll probably add something to handle the update automatically later. However if you play a game, I display the current version on the intermediate page to inform you of new release.
216
Did you reinstalled recently lanux ? The installer should take care of the installation of new versions (firefox can't do it when extensions are distributed as a setup ). But the first versions failed at it in the early versions.

I didn't thought money back guarantee would make senses on a $5 product with a trial period  :P. I always feel badges and offer like this feel a little bit spammy. But I'll add something to the site to see if it change anything.

Thank you a lot for the big picture on the value of $5. It's very difficult to have an idea of the value of money when you never lived in that country.

I'm also working on a sister site for SwiffOut, it'll be an flash arcade game website where SwiffOut would be free unlimited. Arcade website are websites that host free flash games (I ignored that name until two days ago ). This would help I think because I could promote SwiffOut as a completly free product with an extended version instead of a limited time only version. Arcade website also have ad ecosystem that is very cheap (like 1/2c per click - instead of 80c per click on facebook ), and the demographic is very good for SwiffOut.

Living Room / Re: Dating Sites for Geeks and Nerds?
« Last post by ecaradec on June 11, 2010, 03:22 AM »
The main issue of dating website is to get enough people so that people keep coming.

One way to bootstrap it would be to go a nightclub or someplace where people want to meet and to propose them to join the site. That would work great with a site where you can contact people you meet IRL. If you had a crush for someone at this place (and were too shy to ask ) you could go to the site and eventually contact him or her.

Not completly related but :
Some years ago when I was a boy scout chief, a small TV channel came to make a reportage on our troup. At a time, we had a sort of celebration and I told them that they should record it. They didn't, but just after we finished, they said : oh, that was great, could you do it again ? Since that day, I know how fake news can be, and I have had lesser esteem for journalism.

I searched in the forum if there was some history of the begining of DC. I would be very interested in learning about the early days, how the idea grew up, who was on board at the begining and how did it grow. Do we have some historian here ?

I think that programmers are more likely to pay for software as they know that's a lot of work (some of them at least ) . Non programmer see programming as putting a button here and there. Actually I understand that as there is not a lot more to see than buttons and windows...

I had a discussion on kongregate forum there : http://www.kongregat.../1/topics/670?page=3 , I had to give free version to flash developers so that people stop arguing about the price and try it (I think that's fair anyway - good flash games support swiffout in a way ) ... It seems that many people don't even want to try something not free (may be the fear to like it and have to pay ? ).
223
I found out that most flash games are configured to scale when the window gets bigger. Usually games likes to control exactly what's the user see. The more flexible things are, the more difficult the game play is to adjust (yoda style ;) ). Do you know some flash games that would works that way ? Exploration games, like 'Universe' could benefit from that, but I don't know of any games that play that way.

The game final-ninja was configured to not scaling and ignore scaling even if forced : it can only be played at the resolution it was written for. Actually it does exactly the stuff you do when you want to show more contents, but it didn't, so scaling doesn't work. By the way, setting resolution like SwiffOut does, seems like the only way to play fullscreen on that game. Flash Game Maximizer couldn't make this game work fullscreen. So this is a good point for SwiffOut !

I'm learning to sell software on Internet. Some days ago I announced SwiffOut here : https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=22649.0 . SwiffOut is a piece of software that aims at making flash games a great gaming experience.

I'm writing a blog that you can subscribe here : http://grownsoftware.com/blog/ . I'm going to share how my experiments evolve. If you are interested into the shareware selling process, you may like it. So far it's not a huge success like what you'll see on hackernews front page, but it's still very early in the process. I still have a lot of work to do.

Hi lanux thank. That's my first time successfully designing something over wordpress. I'll add a menu. In the meantime you can move your button in the address bar. I think I did that.
