If you have the entire xml code from above in the clipboard then you should get the paste option. If not, you will not have the paste option available.

To paste an xml file as a button all you need to do is right click on a toolbar and select "Customize". Then, right click again and "Paste".

I love the Donation Coder forums but these kind of questions are better asked on the Directory Opus forums. They are very friendly and helpful over there. I like to check in over there daily because DirOpus is such a powerful program and I learn new things all the time.

I don't see why this is so earth shattering. I always run my Firefox in a sandbox (sandboxie).

I wish I had read this thread earlier in the day. I installed Ver 3 and quickly uninstalled it as I realized that I had lost some of the capability I had in ver 2.

It would be nice to see more of a overlap or offset on the discounts<->Giveaways. I mean, do I get Jungledisk now at a disount or do I wait to see if I win a free one? The discount expires at the end of the month, just as the giveaways are announced.

It sounds like it might be useful in a few instances. But, I hesitate to install add-ons unless it is something that I'm likely to use all the time. I'm afraid excess extensions will slow FF down.

I often see extensions that don't offer much extra functionality but still eat resources. Example: Flagfox puts a flag in the location bar to signify the location of the server. Neat, but I don't think it is worth the resources.

I could be all wrong here. Does anybody have more than about 9-10 extensions installed and does it slow FF down?

I agree that 10 Express is probably not as good as 9 Pro. It is a shame we can't find more discounts. I noticed that the upgrade price for 10 Pro is $55. That is way more than the $9 I paid for the non-upgrade ver 9! Good program but not worth $85/$55.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Google Calendar Quick Add
« Last post by edbro on June 27, 2008, 07:14 AM »
Does this:
https://addons.mozil...S/firefox/addon/2405
work for you?

I don't know, the plugin isn't compatible with FF 3. I do notice that the -06:00 offset (Central Time) is the same on my computer and on Google Calendar's settings.

Do any of these clean the new Firefox 3? I think FF uses a new database and Crapcleaner no longer clears my browser history.

Edit: Disregard. After more searching I find I was confusing the Awesome bar dropdown with the browser history. BTW, the new Awesome bar is sweet. Very similar to FARRFox.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Access Violation

I installed the new version and have rebooted twice with no error message. I do get an error ding sound when shutting down but no dialog box in the way of shutdown. I don't know what that error is or even what program is triggering it. But, so far so good for the new FARR. Thanks for the quick reaction.

Find And Run Robot / Access Violation
« Last post by edbro on June 11, 2008, 10:50 AM »
Running FARR 2.06.05 I get an access violation any time I shut the computer down.

Access Violation at address 74985DEE in module MSXML3.dll. Read of address 00000020

FARR runs fine at all time during normal computer ops and the problem only appears at Windows shutdown. Shutting down FARR manually does not trigger the error.

For some reason when I add an event with this plugin it shows up on Gcal one hour off. For example, if I type:
gc "test event on 1 jun at 2:30 pm"
it will show up on Gcal as starting at 3:30.

The preview window in FARR shows it as:
Title: test event
From: 2008-06-01T14:30:00.000-06:00
To: 2008-06-01T15:30:00.000-06:00

If I add the same event string directly into Gcal it shows up at the correct time.

I use Total Uninstall. It has gone shareware but you can still find the last freeware edition through Google. Excellent app.

Interesting, but I don't think it is a match for CrapCleaner.

I love the MediaVault. I have the newer version, MV2120. I use it for backing up all 3 home computers as well as serving music to my Roku Soundbridge. I am very pleased with it, especially for the price.

Personally speaking, I don't see much of an advantage to putting all my programs on a drive separate from the OS. I have 2 physical drives with one of them partitioned into 2 logical drives. OS and programs on C, Data on D, and Backups on E. I also have a HP Mediavault 1TB NAS for secondary backup and music server.

The reason I like to keep my programs on the same drive as the OS is because if you need to reinstall the OS you would have to reinstall all the programs anyway, unless they were portable. I keep an image of a fresh XP install and, just because it's so easy to do, I like to start fresh every few months. If I had all my programs on the D drive then I would have to reinstall on top of the existing installs.

Why do I reapply the OS image so often? 1) I like to experiment with a lot of new software that I usually uninstall later (but they still leave remnants), 2) I'm anal retentive! Having the image of the OS, tweaked the way I like it, allows me to run without a virus scanner or software firewall. I've never been bitten but if I do I can start fresh in about 5 minutes.

I still use Powerpro as well. Even though the development has stopped, it has way more potential than I've been able to tap into. I'll still be exploring new things to do with it for years. It runs well on Vista so I don't think you can call it outdated. The Yahoo Groups (there are 2) are still very active.

Just because a piece of software is no longer being updated doesn't render it immediately outdated.

General Software Discussion / Re: Your fav' audio CD burner?
« Last post by edbro on May 07, 2008, 02:02 PM »
Forgive my ignorance, but what are coasters? -and why exactly "coasters"?
Coaster=CD that did not burn properly and is therefore unreadable.
Coaster because it is shaped like a drink coaster and that's all its good for.
