General Software Discussion / Re: Mozilla shoots itself in foot
« Last post by anandcoral on May 06, 2019, 07:13 AM »
All fixed now.
FF 66.0.4 (32-bit)

Mozilla did worked on their fault and fixed it, but the last two days were dark, just like Fani blew all our extensions !!
I was never so happy as I felt today in getting all my extensions back active.

even Beyond compare is reporting at least 45 minutes to complete the comparison run

You're doing it the hard way, set BeyondCompare to display differences only, don't have it automatically compare contents, load the folder trees into it, (one a side), then just look for folders that are tinted red or blue, expand those folders until the file differences are displayed.

Takes less than a minute because you can do it while it's running through the basic folder comparison.

Tinted blue: an item doesn't exist in the other tree (name)
Tinted red: an item in one tree differs from the same item in the other tree (date/time, size)

eg. Less than 10 seconds on my netbook for a simple folder difference highlight:

Yes. This is the correct way and I do it frequently, while synchronizing backups from office and home.

I've built some surrounding small cabinets/shelves to make the range look more built-in and use every available inch of storage:

(the left hand side has a little door; the right hand side is open shelving)
they both have a piece of tile on top of them for easy cleaning.

Wow ! Sparks flew as I scrolled down this thread !!
Congratulation Mouser on your new kitchen.

General Software Discussion / Re: youtube downloader?
« Last post by anandcoral on March 18, 2019, 05:07 AM »
I have tried many offline tools, 4kdown.., 3dyou.. etc. but they all fail as and when youtube makes changes.

Recently when I search for 'youtube to mp3' for my son, I found https://www.onlinevi...er.com/mp3-converter
The best I must say. No fuss, direct mp4 or mp3 and many more, see screen shots.

It is in my bookmark now and I did not faced any problem till date. You may give it a try.

Hi chashnniel,

Thanks for the appreciation.

Quicknote is different that it is has same set of text for all windows. I use it to quickly jot down some points, when working on one job and refer to it on another job.

One important feature I use "Quicknote" is to record keyboard, when i create passwords for a site, so that I know what password I typed. Many sites reject my simple password and insist on different ones and in the melee I forget what I typed finally.

Anand

The many programs I use and can not be without them, some of which I feel are lesser known, are below,

http://www.quicknote.de/ - I use for : quick note popup small window with hotkey

http://www.resoph.co...phNotes/Welcome.html - I use for : note with tree and sync with simple note

http://www.ukrebs-software.de/ - I use for : calendar with reminder and execute programs and recurring events

And my own developed NANY programs, but they are well known, to be in this list, I think :)

Android Apps / Re: android app keyboard

Agree with Stephen and Ath.

For using in phone, GBoard is the best now. I have used many and came back always.
For tablet and if you want some editing big text benefit, Hackers Keyboard is the best, as it gives same keyboard as like pc, including TAB and ESC keys.

Hi larrybrenkus,

The zip includes the hash of the exe file. Please check it.
Most probably it is false alarm, due to compression used.

I will make the website with more details, as I do for my apps. Presently under work pressure.

I was planning to add a lot more functionality, but a kitchen renovation went horribly wrong and i've spent the last month cursing my life.  Today what should have been a simple kitchen cabinet repainting job shit the bed and we're back to square -5.
Welcome to Husbands Club.
We all go through this patch in the beginning years then we get habituated :)

Thanks Ath for the inspiration.
Yes, the app still has many options to be made but I released it as it does the job intended.
Will add the Settings option for color and other features. Also in the pipe line is to allow to move the window with mouse.

Usage
Installation
To install, extract the zip file in a folder, say "Process Started", and run the "Process Started" exe.

Well, this is what I wanted and I made.
I wanted to keep an eye on the process which runs behind my back. The app still has many options to be made, but it does what I intend it to.

NANY 2019 already has more process lister and watchers, and I was feeling hesitant in adding mine to it.
Also I was not getting enough time to fine tune and polish it, as my earlier NANY apps. Nevertheless I decided in releasing it as I noted it is different in its approach.

Regards,

Anand

Simple,

1. First I feel the need or is required to accomplish 'something' in fast and easy way.
2. Existing solution do not solve it fully.
3. Pick up the program language which will do it in easy and fast coding.
(For above I have used AutoHotkey, AutoIt3, Harbour, MiniGUI to name a few, and pick which satisfies most)
4. Make it.
5. Use it and love it.
6. If you feel satisfied and happy, share it with others or release it as NANY :)

I follow it.

Anand

DC Website Help and Extras / Re: Is DC attacked again?
« Last post by anandcoral on December 26, 2018, 04:27 AM »
Yes, most likely.
DC was repeatedly down for few minutes since yesterday 25 dec 2018, as per Uptime robot, I use.

Also noting lots of spam messages in my rss feed, which are deleted by moderator.

So concluding some short of spam attack is there.
