I got them from TigerDirect.  Here's a copy of my invoice:

Here's the link to the computer on TD, and here's the monitor.

Looks like the monitor's price has gone up $10 since my purchase.

But I think I'll be happy.  Here's the short-list of its specs, which I think are more than sufficient to meet the demands I'll place on the PC, as noted in my OP:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS
    Intel Pentium E5300 2.6GHz processor
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500
    750GB Hard Drive
    HDMI, VGA and DVI ports

The PC is refurbished, which accounts for the lower price of the compete bundle.  However, I've bought 3 refurbs from TigerDirect in the past 5 years, and they were all excellent.

I think you will have a very hard time finding it.

What you're asking for is for a program to steal focus, which is generally considered evil. Pure evil. Evil as in the Devil would shun it.

I can see the point to it, but really, I think you're going to need some luck in finding it.

If you have some code handy for someone, or if you have some VERY specific format ready that can be implemented quickly, then I think you can see if someone will build it for you.

The basics for it aren't very hard. It is however... esoteric.

I'd post this on the Coding Snacks request forum if you haven't.  This would be fairly easy to code.  I might even take a stab at it.

I agree as well.  I suppose what I will find hilarious is Facebook's embarrassment as they're forced to admit that their "security precautions" are lame.  What I don't find amusing is that individual FB users have no choice in this.

Couldn't get this to run on Win7 Home Premium 64 bit.  Tried it in Compatibility Mode, but no cigar.

Honestly?  No.  Most of my finds seem geared to work with C++.  Aside from the very few listed in previous posts on this thread that will work with C#, I've come across scant offerings  ;)

Lightfeather is a 3D engine for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows. It is designed to be easy to use but still take advantage of the features of modern graphics hardware.

Apparently, it is based off Hypercard, in which the famous Myst game was developed.

Not proportionally they don't...

Hm, you might have liked a 22" full-hd resolution (1920x1080) for even more screen real-estate better then 1680x1050

True, but I'm getting old enough that I already have to increase text size in web-browsers and make my Desktop icons bigger than their defaults.  So it won't matter quite as much for me.

looks to be good value…

Yeah, I mean, for $450, I'm getting a Win7 Home Premium 64 bit machine with 6 GB of RAM, and a 22" monitor.

The reason I finally made this purchase is not because of anything lacking in my laptop, but rather the fact that I've been craving more screen real-estate.  I'll be going from a 15.6" monitor to a 22".  Very nice, especially when I'm watching movies or doing C# development!

I bought this desktop and monitor today.  Would have got a bigger monitor, but had to get one whose dimensions (including the stand) will fit my computer desk.

I just used an evaluation copy of Beyond Compare and it did exactly what I wanted.  Identified the files on the server that were newly created on my Flatpress blog, and allowed me to download just those files to my backup directory.  Great!  Looks like I'll be buying this, but if I later change computers, will my license/activation key still work, or is just one-PC/one-license?  Anyone know?

I'm under the impression that it's not wise to have two anti-malware programs (mbam and sas) running in real time.  Wouldn't you be better off running one in real time and one on demand?

That's what I do.  Microsoft Security Essentials runs 24/7, and I run AVG and SpyBot S&D on-demand.

Because if people acted more responsibly, there would be significantly less unaddressed human needs -and fewer unrealistic attitudes surrounding the notion of 'entitlement.'
