Living Room / Re: Tired of downloading MP3's ? (use your soundrecord.exe)

I tried using URLSnooper but failed miserably. I was trying to get just the swf so I could send it to a friend. If I sent her the url that is posted above, I think I would seriously offend her (she does not tolerate any nudity or porno). I can appreciate her views although it does not bother me at all.
I can understand if someone does not like porn but if that page already offends her I suggest you send the URL just to your more liberal friends ;)

And don't send her http://en.wikipedia....ng_spaghetti_monster either :-[

Skrommel's Software / Re: Problems with Ghoster
« Last post by brotherS on October 09, 2005, 04:41 PM »
:o You seem to be right! I closed my main AHK script and just started Ghoster.exe - played around with it and right-clicked it in the tray to exit it - and everything worked as it should...

Is there maybe some way around "Process,Close" to fix this for all those guys running AHK 24/7 (like me)?

Finished Programs / Re: IDEA: open IE with the URL from the clipboard
« Last post by brotherS on October 09, 2005, 04:25 PM »
:) This should do it, I think. Ctrl-Shift-i opens url on the clipboard, Ctrl-Shift-j copies selection before opening.
Wow, works perfectly! :) Thanks!!

If you want to put it in your list of scripts you might want to call it URL2IE or URLtoIE - I'm not able to come up with a better name just now ;)

I can't click links - something broke in my Windows months ago...

whats very sad..
did you try installing different browsers, like firefox, that might be able to recreate the proper links?
Yes, I installed Firefox again, IE again and another browser too... no luck at all... the relevant filetype(s) broke and I have no idea of how to repair that :(

Finished Programs / DONE - IDEA: open IE with the URL from the clipboard
« Last post by brotherS on October 09, 2005, 12:07 PM »
Hi!

I'd like a tiny script that would do this when I hit Ctrl-Shift-i

Startup the IE, paste the content from the clipboard in the address field and hit Enter

Also, a second script would be cool with a slighty different hotkey. It should 'click' Ctrl-C to copy what I marked to the clipboard and then just do what the other script does.

I would especially like this since I can't click links - something broke in my Windows months ago... :( Repair-install didn't work, and I don't want to install every program again, setting everything up again would take ages...

Skrommel's Software / Re: Problems with Ghoster
« Last post by brotherS on October 09, 2005, 12:06 PM »
I downloaded the .exe and tested it, starting and stopping it with my major AHK script. That works nicely now, but after I exit Ghoster just the windows I used in 'Ghoster mode' are able to be shown in the foreground then... just switching with Alt-TAB to a different window will activate that but will not bring it to the foreground...

EDIT: Tested it again with two other windows, one of them tabbed. Strange thing: after ending Ghoster the tabbed program behaves normally, the Windows explorer window I used in the text not...

I then tested it AGAIN and now ended Ghoster when the tabbed window was active in the foreground. Now THAT one acted up...

Somehow it seems to be related to the last active window(s) when exiting...

And I also noticed Ghoster doesn't clean up the tray when exiting:

ProcessTamer / Re: feature request: kill process if...
« Last post by brotherS on October 09, 2005, 03:56 AM »
@mouser: I'm not sure how important ProcessTamer is to you, but since ScreenshotCaptor is working great now I'm hoping you may want to put some new features in this? Do you like my latest ideas above?
There really seems to be NO program out there right now capable of doing that :(

Awesome!  :eusa_dance:

I bet that took them DAYS of hard work!

PS: Yes, I'm tired of downloading MP3s - that's why I only listen to online radio stations now :) No commercials, just the music I like!

however, one thing that might be worth discussing is, do the following sections need name changes:
"Software in the Wild"
"Mini-Reviews by Members"
I like the sound of "Software in the Wild"! :) Where is it now?

Another idea: move "Coding Snacks" up a place, so it looks like this:
Coding Snacks

YES, you did it!! :) Weeeee!

It looks a bit like the thumbnail images are loaded twice but the last image is now displayed! :)

Btw: before reading your post I restarted Windows (1 month + 3 days uptime :) ) but that didn't fix the problem in the version before this.

Thanks Renegade, I will try your tool too!

If Hardcopy does not support PNG I wouldn't use that anyway  PNG is WAY better for screenshots than JPG.
It doesn't support *.png but *.bmp an *.tiff. BMP is losless enough  ;)
Well, TIFF is rather dead and BMP is far worse than PNG, you noticed the difference in size, yes? ;)

Thanks Stefan, nice idea!

I tested it too to get another effect, see the result below. And btw, try to do as I did and find that two words Google search string that shows aliens, a plane *and* the Moulin Rouge on ONE page! :)

:)

2) what is shown on statusbar when you click on it (after program loads)
Nothing (tried several times) - but as soon as I click another image there will be "Loaded 'image'.png" displayed.

I've been using the *.jpg-format because it's the only format which is available in both programs.
If Hardcopy does not support PNG I wouldn't use that anyway ;) PNG is WAY better for screenshots than JPG.

Thankfully you discovered a really great program now, just play around a bit with Screenshot Captor and discover all the nice possibilities!

@mouser: google for "free snagit alternative" - it does NOT yet show your program in the first 10 search results! Since it's so great and free we need to change that, I suggest you add some words in the description on your page.

Let me start: Screenshot Captor is a great and free alternative to SnagIt, I really like it a lot!

Same problem when I saved another screenshot as JPG instead of PNG :(

I'm beginning to think it's somehow my PC causing that? Maybe others could confirm or not confirm this? I'm using Windows 2000 Pro, latest SP.

can you tell me 1) the format of the file.
It's that ~1 MB big PNG. But the same happened when I tried another snapshot and again just now when I captured the image below. It just WON'T load the last one...

2) what is shown on statusbar when you click on it (after program loads)
Nothing (tried several times) - but as soon as I click another image there will be "Loaded 'image'.png" displayed.

Btw: why does it say 'image'.png instead of 'image.png' or just image.png there?

3) anything unusual about the file? does it have objects?
No, see above... but when I accidently right-clicked between two thumbnails I got this:

http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/2/menubugwhenclickingbetweenthum.png

And when I clicked there some more times I got an "Access violation at address 41001F96. Read of address 41001F96." GUI was still visible but non-reactive after that.

Err, what I meant with that screenshot was: Do you see "discard all changes to file" in that screenshot? Me neither...

does the name and comments box show info for the file?
and in the status bar, it says "Loaded xxxxxx"?
No, nothing in there on startup.

if you change screenshot captor to not start minimized, does it still happen?
Yes.

can you also try this, while it is still showing blank, go to File menu and select "discard all changes to file", see if that causes it to display or else give an error in status bar.
Err... should that really be there?

I still prefer the all those nice Azureus options ;)

That one may be a good choice for old PCs without enough RAM though.

ok, let's try again with 2.00.19 , same download url.
Same problem there...

ps. i appreciate all the testing - i'm really going to have to have some kind of rewards for all you people who help so much with the testing..  any ideas?
Err, no idea right now... but that may change ;)
