Living Room / Re: Baby Cody Plushie is born
« Last post by mouser on June 16, 2009, 02:36 AM »
since carol and nudone are both in the UK, and gothic+della are in belgium for the next 2 months where I know he wants to visit, i think Baby Cody's first itinerary will be:
Me -> Nudone -> Carol -> Gothic

Those who want to host him next speak up.

isn't there a request button or something?

I think it's mostly an informal forum type thing.. Potential hosts and current hosts or people who have creatures can post on various sections of the forum in order to connect:

im sure he will think up a lot more missions over time.

Needless to say as the creator of Cody, he has asked to visit you first.

Im using your minicap in a dynamic OCR algorithm that detects characters, strings, numerals and images under 150x150 pixels (ie: icons)

sounds cool -- i'm glad the program is useful to you.. there are actually a few different resizing algorithms in the library i use (CImageEn) -- i wonder if i should provide an option to select which resizing algorithm to use.

Ok so i'm going to pack up and send Baby Cody to the next person who is ready to host him for a few days.

Your obligation as a host is to take a picture(s) of you with him and post it on his ToyVoyagers page (and here).  He has a few missions currently listed on that page, and if you can help him acheive those, all the better, but that's not required.

Now normally with this ToyVoyagers thing, you can always let a toy go in the wild, by leaving him someplace public and hoping that a nice person picks him up, but since there are DC members who want to visit with him, i'm afraid that you will also have the financial obligation to send Baby Cody on to someone else on the forum when he is ready to leave your care.

SO, if you don't feel ready to financially pay to ship him to someone else after he visits you, please wait until he has made the rounds for a while, and he is ready to go off on his own, at which point we will rely on the kindness of strangers to help him along his travels.

Good luck Baby Cody!

:)

since minicap wouldn't put itself there during installation, i'm guessing you probably just copied minicap.exe into the system32 directory so it would be found on the system path when launched from another program, and then forgot about it.

make sure you delete the old copy, something tells me it's still being launched.

open up your command prompt and type:
where minicap.exe

well the cause of your problem is clear, as suspected: you have a rogue older copy of minicap.exe installed somewhere on your path.
now you need to find out where it is and delete or replace it with the new copy.

eh, if someone wants another custom baby cody, so be it.. each one would end up be unique anyway.

just remember all those movies about Clones who turn evil.. the more you clone him, the more chance you risk that you will get an evil clone.

sorry my bad -- just hit escape (or capture an image) after the red box stuff, and you will *then* go to the main window.

:)

well it does go to show you that sandboxes can cause issues -- that's good to know when testing.  what program are you using to do sandbox stuff?  the virtual machines (vmware, virtualpc, virtualbox, etc.) dont seem to have such problems.

Is there a quick way via cmd line to make it shout at me what version its running just to make sure?

if you just type minicap.exe on that commandline, it will pop up and show version in titlebar.

it doesn't happen for me.
at one point in the installation does the error occur for you -- as soon as you double click the .exe?

in case this wasn't clear.. this was a one of a kind custom plushie created by onetruetree above, through the very cool site esty.com.  so he is unique.

i think it's agreed we are going to send him around the world using ToyVoyagers.com, where if i understand it correctly, DC members can request he be passed along to them for a visit before being passed along to the next person. [each person should take some photos of baby cody when they visit with him].  maybe we should make sure he is sent to each dc gathering ahead of time :)

an idea:
can you print to screen the commandline as it tries to run it, then i can try to reproduce with the exact commandline, and you can see what commandline is actually being passed.

you are right about background not being transparent.. i can add an option for that.

as for the arrow object being back and forward.. im unsure about what it is behind.. oh is that system tray area an object?
