Living Room / Re: Blog hack? Please help!
« Last post by mouser on July 11, 2009, 12:34 AM »
it seems that there is an issue with ImageShack getting hacked to display this image, when normally it would display an image uploaded by a person.

SO.. your sister's blog was not hacked.. but your sisters blog is linking to an image which is hosted on imageshack, and the original image has been replaced with this one.

Solution: tell her to find out where on the page the link is to that "image" (in a post she made, or an advert, or in a user comment), and modify or delete it.

--

Yet another reason not to use these image hosting companies like imageshack for anything permanent.

BrowserTraySwitch / BrowserTraySwitch V2 - Tips and Troubleshooting
« Last post by mouser on July 10, 2009, 05:35 PM »
I thought i might use this thread for troublehsooting and tips.

"BrowserTraySwitch was working fine, but now I get messages in my browsers that they aren't set to defauilt even after I've switched to them using BTS."

  • If you install a new browser and all of a sudden when you use BrowserTraySwitch to switch, the browsers report they aren't the default browser when you start them, it may simply mean that the new browser uses some registry settings that need to be ADDED to your existing snapshots.
  • The solution is simple: Let the browsers set themselves to the default, as when you first saved/snapshotted them, and then re-save the snapshots.  Your new shapshots should solve the problem.
18907
New version should run on Vista+Win7 (tested working with IE and FF):

v2.03.01 - July 10, 2009
  • Trying to make it work well on Vista/Win7.
  • You can now overide the default icon for a browser setting by placing a file with the same name as the .btsregfile file but with .ico extension instead.
  • This is a major rewrite of the basic way that BTS works.  Previous versions tried to guess registry settings.  The new version essentially takes snapshots of key registry values for a given browser, and then restores them on demand.
  • Now includes update checking support.
  • Now includes support for configdir.ini (portable use or custom config file locations)
  • Added links to other programs DefaultBrowser and SetBrowser

had to take her to be put to sleep a few months ago aged about 12 years. i won't go into the details other than to say i felt like i'd done the worst thing imaginable; i'd destroyed something of total vitality and joy - i didn't understand what grief meant until that day (i'm incredibly upset now just thinking about it).

we had to put my dog "Clipper" to sleep many years ago.. it was a very hard experience and extremely sad.  but I still have the memories of him so he will live on in that way.. it's all we can do for anyone we love who has to move on.

new version is up which should fix the problem (it wasn't creating the BrowserBackup directory when saving stuff to a folder other than the app directory).
at least we know now that the backup safety feature is working.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Am I missing something obvious? How do you paste???
« Last post by mouser on July 10, 2009, 12:07 AM »
i'll check the code and see if i can see any reason why it wouldn't be pasting.. basically it's trying to send a ctrl+V to simulate the paste.  Since it's overwriting the active clip, it's clearly getting that far.  it may just be gunshine about sending the Ctrl+V if it doesnt *think* it has restored focus into the window that was active before being triggered -- perhaps if i relax that a little i can get it to work more reliably.  Stay tuned.

can you try this for me -- try it in a number of different programs, see if some work and some don't.
see if it matter if you click your mouser where you want to paste before you bring up the menu.
see if it always fails to paste or just sometimes.

the other thing to try is the new option in the Behavior tab:
Screenshot - 7_9_2009 , 11_04_17 PM.png

see if that works.  even if it does, it's not really suitable for larger clips, but it would be a clue.

Find And Run Robot / Re: DC Updater FARR & Twitter Plug-In Issue
« Last post by mouser on July 09, 2009, 09:32 PM »
character table and data generator are obsolete -- they were merged into czb's amazing czb pack:
https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=17153.0

so delete those in your directory and install the czb pack version.

As far as the
"C:\Program Files\Find + Run Robot\AliasGroups\Installed\twitter"

there HAS to be 2 copies in your FARR directory somewhere -- search for all .dcupdate files under C:\Program Files\Find + Run Robot\ and youll see them.
delete the older one which inside the .dcupdate will say twitter alias v 2.0
that will leave you with the good one.

Mircryption / Re: Please I need help with blowssi/mircrytpion: 3 problems
« Last post by mouser on July 09, 2009, 07:20 PM »
the mcps prefix and the +OK prefix should be treated identically.. they serve identical roles and the actual encryption is identical.
basically it's a historical legacy.. mircryption uses mcps by default but can be set to use +OK.
fish uses +OK only.

Find And Run Robot / Re: DC Updater FARR & Twitter Plug-In Issue
« Last post by mouser on July 09, 2009, 06:55 PM »
i can see your problem.. you've got 2 instances of the twitter alias.
this can actually happen pretty easily because of how easy it is to accidentally unzip it into its on subdirectory.
go to your farr plugins directory
look for a twitter subdir in there, and then look for a twitter subdir in the twitter subdir -- delete that one.
then have farr check for updates again.
if the problem remains, then its a bug with the twitter package not with you.

BrowserTraySwitch / Re: BrowserTraySwitch V2 BETA
« Last post by mouser on July 09, 2009, 02:59 PM »
i noticed something strange about Avant.. depending on the shortcut link that you use to launch it, you can confuse it about its "set-as-default" status, even though all will launch it.

So that if one shortcut points to a LOWERCASE (or short) version of the filename, and another doesn't (or if BTS sets one and the shortcut is different), i'm guessing that's the cause of your problem.  I hope that's enough of a clue to track down and solve your problem.
