^ no:
in SC, click the right-mouse button, hold, and drag. Image should pan.
Works the same with a trackpad: right-click (hold) and drag. Not sure about the new minimal trackpads with no buttons.
Is that clearer?

Ah I know what setting you are talking about:
[ Invalid Attachment ]

i'll chance asking :-[
any chance you could add in 'Restore main window' there -- or is that difficult to do?
I see right-clicking tray icon shows 'Hide main window' if the main window is open.

I do note that all in that drop-down list are capture options, so can understand if you dont want to go there...

I only found out a while back (well, a year or two back) that rightclick+drag works in SC to pan. I noticed afterwards that it's used in some image viewers.

Anyone coming from adobe (or macromedia) products would be used to using the spacebar to activate the 'pan-hand'.

DC Website Help and Extras / Re: Can't post a post with just a video
« Last post by tomos on May 19, 2016, 12:47 PM »
For what it's worth, I do think it's a good idea to describe videos when you post them. That way in a couple of years when someone is trying to remember what they were, a search for related terms will bring something up.

Many videos, because they have the text in the title of them, and even in the first frame, don't require that.  For example, the ocelot one.  Are you saying that I should just repeat the title? It felt spurious having to put text.

I wouldnt say 'you should' but it can be helpful :-)
A good example is the music thread -- a lot of videos are posted with no info.

  • cant be searched for
  • if the video disappears from YT we have no idea what it was
  • if the video is blocked in some countries, people can search for it (although I think google usually shows the title these days)

tbh, I only use the first (Ctrl+Win+Insert) one -- to open the UI (so other hotkeys are a bit of a mess in screenshot)

I'm pretty sure the counter is still being updated as before. It's just not shown by default anymore. Now you have to click on the review title to get to a single page with only this one review on it, e.g. http://www.amazon.co...views/R3S23J70VFH350

As you can see,
19 of 20 people found the following review helpful

I'd missed that -- it's still pretty well hidden though (which was my complaint). I suspect it may simply be the case that they either haven't changed that aspect yet, or dont consider it worth the effort of changing it.

Re being logged in:
that was simply a case of me noticing that they were still showing the negative votes there on my own reviews (when logged in).

Other conflictive program seems to be Ditto.
But I am so fond to this programa that I am unable to use anyone else.
Even with its fails sometimes with the clips Ditto is wonderful.
 :-*

have you ever tried Tranglos's Ethervane Echo? It's based on Ditto.
I love it: works well on Win.7 anyways, dont know about 8 etc.

[...] some of (what I think are) Ditto's shortcomings were irking me more and more. Excruciatingly slow delete and purge operations. Minuscule, non-configurable font in the search box, which at #over40 I can hardly read. Lack of privacy features. When I wrote down all that was giving me pain in Ditto, I listed about a dozen items. It was time to improve on it.

All audio, video, and graphics in this video take up less than 64kB:

I'm [easily] confused -- nothing informative at the source (http://www.pouet.net...prod.php?which=67113), do you have any good link/ more info deo?

(1. I cant help with google drive.)
2. There are many debates about reliable online backup here on dc.

uBlock Origin

good ideas, but uBlock Origin may be a bit too conservative -- it blocks a lot of pages for relatively minor stuff imo (using it in FF & PaleMoon at any rate). It does give you the option to proceed to the page, but not sure if that whole scenario is great for a beginner.

was enjoying this one lately:

twenty one pilots: Can't Help Falling In Love

came across it by accident thinking it just some dude doing a good cover, which of course it is, but it turned out to be a very nice little video ending with him on stage with adoring fans, and the video has 26+ million views, so I guess they're well known :-)

Got me listening to other versions. This one isnt as strong but I enjoyed all the same:

Haley Reinhart: Can't Help Falling in Love

the original Elvis recording is not to be found on you tube, but here is an enjoyable bunch of alternate takes (they recording it live) -- it's nice to be able to listen to the comments when things dont work (for the twenty-somethingth time)

Contro, would mouser's Launchbar Commander be a better solution for you than all those quick-launch icons?

Living Room / Re: snipping tool with image editor
« Last post by tomos on May 08, 2016, 06:52 AM »
In case anyone wondered, the only reason I avoid using SC for clipping images is that I haven't had the time to yet figure out how to get SC to automatically save image clips to the Clipboard, so as to get them into CHS' database for subsequent editing by SC...    :-[

this part is easy enough, although, now I look at it, I'm not 100% sure which choice to make:
Options >Basic Capture >Post capture options:
Copy to Clipboard: [select one of] Image Bitmap / File itself

=>
I'm not sure what the difference is between those two options.
