Living Room / Re: Free Mousepads?
« Last post by mouser on August 16, 2009, 05:22 PM »
it seems to me that Miles has earned a DC mousepad for all the coding snacks he has shared with us..
we just need to make a new mousepad design and I can send it on its way.

maybe we need an image of miles davis playing a trumpet and a stream of cody's emerging from it.

Find And Run Robot / Re: FARR html view

But when I use dolaunch in the plugin nothing happens, FARR just closes.

can you give me a specific example -- that usually means farr didn't know how to launch the result.

fun idea.
so every time you refuse to do it, you have to write a "why not" line.

Drag&Drop Robot / Re: Thread errors under Win98SE
« Last post by mouser on August 16, 2009, 02:56 PM »
hmm.. i havent tried it under win98 in so long.. i wonder if there might be issues.. it would help if you tried with some other tools besides the par commandline so we could know if it was d+d robot in general or just with working with this commandline tool in particular.

you say:
while D&DR pops up the message: Thread Error: The specified path is invalid (161)

i wonder if that is a par2.exe error rather than a d+d robot error..

it's funny how deleting posts leads to a chain reaction of weird replies that no longer make sense in the context of the now-deleted posts.  and any attempt to edit and fix just results in more temporal discontinuities.. i guess now we know why time travel was outlawed in the year 2516.. oops i think i said too much.

Is there an option to make farr open links in a new browser window? Preferably in the default browser and not IE?

by default farr will open html links in your configured browser, it's only because the alias says showfilehtml that it is showing internally.

if the alias said:
1000>>>>->c:\some\dir\weather.html>+>^weath1$

then the page would be opened in your normal browser.

I think a tour through the built-in aliases would be good.

good idea.

Post New Requests Here / Re: Format Text in TFLM
« Last post by mouser on August 16, 2009, 02:11 PM »
TFLM was mainly made for pure text stuff, without formatting, but i know a few people have found small ways to work around it.
im going to move this to the TFLM section of the forum where people might remember how it was done.

as i mentioned in a previous we are currently making a web-based version of TFLM, and when that work finds its way back to the desktop version i can finally add some of these features.

i know you really should be able to, but you can't currently.

actually we've been working on an online web based version of the form letter machine, and it should be ready to go live this month.

one of the changes is that it uses text-based xml tree configuration files.

this will get ported backward to the desktop version eventually, which will mean it will be a lot easier to the kind of thing you want.

ok i'm back.. not much lost.

just another reminder that backups are SO important.  i got lucky this time since i had a recent backup.

please everyone develop a backup system and stick to it.

Mouser's Zone / My main hard drived just died so i'll be offline today (8/16/09)
« Last post by mouser on August 16, 2009, 10:46 AM »
the hard drive on my main pc apparently completely failed last night while i was asleep.

i believe (pray) i have a week-old backup.

hopefully all will go well and i will be back without much data loss sometime today.

-mouser

ps1.
if i don't get back online in time -- some other coder on the forum needs to make a screencast of their program and post it, so we keep with the one-screencast-per-day project this month.
ps2.
i can still access the forum from secondary pc so ill be around occasionally today.
18592
good idea, adding to todo list.

ps.
don't forget you can hit the hotkey to close it also.

there should be a lot of free little encryption testing utilities out there that can do this, so i'm not sure there is any reason to write a new one.. maybe just locate an existing one?

Find And Run Robot / Re: problem with 2.75.0.1
« Last post by mouser on August 15, 2009, 08:28 AM »
it probably means there is an item in your launch history that is causing farr to hang.. this could be because its on a network share, or because an antivirus tool is hanging on it..

can you try letting it take as long as it wants and seeing if it wakes up after a few minutes.  if so, then go to options, and launch history, and see if you spot anything fishy.. you can right click in your launch history at that point and clear it all.

I will try to make a fix for this, but it would help me to know what file it is causing the hangup for you.
Maybe you could email me your FindAndRunRobot.ini file which has the history list in it.  Make a copy of it regardless -- it's a text file so you could also open it in a text editor and see if you spot any stange launch history items.

BrowserTraySwitch / Re: IE icon not captured in tray
« Last post by mouser on August 14, 2009, 10:20 PM »
ok that's important -- it means that while it is saving and restoring the default browser settings, the registry key it's using to guess the browser executable filename is not used by IE, and so explains the behavior of both icon and dbl-click.  i'll fix.

BrowserTraySwitch / Re: IE icon not captured in tray
« Last post by mouser on August 14, 2009, 09:00 PM »
question:
if you set IE as default through BTS, then as you've described, the icon doesn't show right (it shows the icon for a dif browser).
now if you ask BTS to open the default browser (by double clicking the tray icon?) does it correctly open IE?
