Thanks to some help we now have a zip file with all known Find and Run Robot plugins and aliases!

I think this is going to be useful to everyone who uses FARR (and writes plugins for it).
I'll try to keep this updated as new versions are released -- so message me if you are an author and release a new version so i can update it in the master collection:

Download (about 20mb):
https://www.donation...rrCompleteAddons.zip

So to all FARR coders and alias makers -- please download this and check it.
If you have an alias or plugin that we missed, or any corrections to those included -- please message me (or email me, [email protected]) and i will fix it.

it's really about time someone wrote this Proxy Url Handler idea.. it's long long overdue.

let me describe the concept and the main features it needs to be done properly:

  • 1. it needs to register itself as the default url handler, so it gets called every time any program opens up a url.
  • 2. it needs to be take a configuration file that specify rules for what urls get opened in what browsers.
  • 3. these rules need to be able to handle regular expressions on the urls themselves, and refer to the original launching application.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: FScript 1.19 Issues
« Last post by mouser on September 19, 2009, 01:00 PM »
now we have the real solution to all of the compatibility problems -- it is that all plugins need to upgrade to onProcessTriggerV2.
18282
i still think Tranglos' suggestion might be the simplest and most foolproof -- use one of the many programs that are intended to monitor folders you specify and make backups of files any time they change.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Weird bug

ok great
my hope was that at least this auto-reporting/disabling of crashed plugins would make it less risky for people to install plugins, since at least this way farr can help them diagnose when one goes rogue :)

and when you restarted farr after that, did it tell you it was temporarily disabling the plugin? if not then i have to fix that --
part of the reason i implemented that logging system was to have farr autodetect and autodisable crashed plugins.

a preliminary question:
what in the logs told you that it was fsubscript to blame?

let us know which one you go with and why.

DC member paarkhi has very generously volunteered to work on making finding and downloading plugins a better experience. yay!

Ideas are still developing but I think basically we are talking about:
  • 1. insuring that each plugin thread is somewhat consistent in structure (ie version info, download link)
  • 2. creating pages in the farr wiki ( http://farr.dcisv.com ) with quick links to every plugin
  • 3. making a big zip file with every plugin and keeping it updated.

In addition to my recent call for all plugin writers to make sure their plugins work with the most recent FARR (and update them if not), can I ask all plugin writers to find the thread in the FARR plugins subforum that has their plugin download information and make sure that the first post of your plugin's thread includes:
  • 1. A concise description of your plugin
  • 2. Version information
  • 3. A screenshot
  • 4. A link to the download zip or offsite download page for the plugin
  • 5. Make sure that the FIRST POST of the thread is always modified to have this info, and should always have a link to and info about the latest version

You might also post a new reply on your original plugin thread saying that the plugin is tested to work with the latest FARR as of the current date.

That will help paarkhi a lot I think.

a number of people on donationcoder have been using Website Baker to make small websites:

18291
it is easy for a plugin to tell farr how many results to show max and overide the farr default -- maybe a nice option to add to the next version of the plugin.
18292
is no one going to participate in this? i'd love to see a DC member submit an entry.. how can we help encourage it?

ProcessTamer / Re: Process Tamer Update Coming -- Express your feature requests here!
« Last post by mouser on September 17, 2009, 02:07 PM »
When you create a RULE to give a process an explicit priority, Process Tamer will remember this and always force the process to have this priority.

Note that in the Processes list, there are 2 columns -- one "Priority" shows current priority and let's you change it temporarily.
The other "Explicit Rule" lets you set an explicit rule which will always be enforced, even on reboot.

Now that's interesting!  Is this your creation sindy, or just something you came across? looks pretty cool.
18296
thank you so much for solving this mystery Perry, you basically hit the nail on the head.

the onProcessTrigger function is called whenever any result is launched -- whether created by your plugin or by another or by no plugin at all.

so to make your plugin only try to handle it's own -- you check thispluginid vs pluginid and ignore it if they don't match -- UNLESS you are writing a plugin that is trying to take over all launching.

Today's video discusses how to shell commandline tools and capture their output for display in FARR using the runcap alias command:

i added the code highlighting -- you just select the text and then choose the language from the Code Highlighting box (autoit is suitable for ahk).
