Living Room / Evernote new behavior
« Last post by wraith808 on April 05, 2018, 09:17 AM »
I use Evernote, and love it now that I have taken the time to get it set up to work with my workflow.  I just experienced something, however, that makes me question my attachment to it, and wondered if anyone else had experienced the same.

Evernote asked me to update, and I did.  I just left the update running and went to bed for the night, so I'm not sure if it was the update, or Evernote itself, but when I came to my desk this morning, there was a web page in every browser with an Ad for Evernote Business touting the new spaces feature.  I went to my secondary work browser, and it was there too.  Took a look at my laptop- there too.  Connected to my work machine, and lo and behold, it was there too.

It struck me as pretty spammy. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

That is all you need to know.  There is no why.

Why is there no Why?

The O'Connor version is much, much better, IMO.

They're different.  Styles and intents, and frankly singers.  I think each is good in it's own way.   He's also much older than Sinead was when she did the song, also to keep in mind, Prince's has no post production as it's live.

I still get the i in a circle (information icon?) instead of the lock in chrome.  When I click on it, it says that my connection to this site is not fully secure.  Attackers may be able to see the images on this site and modify them.

I bet there are kids today who never saw this haunting video/song by Sinead O'Connor:

The song was written by Prince, it was later revealed. He was going to record it, but gave it to O'Connor to propel her career, which it did.

Thanks 4WD.
I'll check it out. Right now I seem to have issues with executing .ps1 file (executionpolicy, whatever)

You need to change the execution policy to run many powershell scripts

Hi Arthur, thanks for the info about ClickWhen. Unfortunately it appears to me that the link to the exe and the source code are dead, so it's not so useful. :(

If you're interested, you could probably tweet to Adam Pash, the author, to attempt to find out if it was still available...  I know he has some of his source on GitHub, but couldn't find this one.

UPDATE: Found the .exe at least on Softpedia: http://www.softpedia...ents/ClickWhen.shtml

It's a lack of reasoning game, based on interpreting the questions in the best way for you!  ;D

(or is that just Kalos for posting an image and not checking it for accuracy?)

My vote is if you're happy to continue, go for it ... one more tool in the toolbox and all that

I've been working on it on and off today; it's just about done.  Here's a teaser screenshot:

Heh. I guess what you said about having different implementations was true.  Mine didn't have the nifty up/down arrows in the right click menu, but used something similar to the steam wishlist, where you put in the position where you wanted it, and it renumbered each record.  I might still finish it as it's an interesting problem- but I already did the part that I wanted to do, i.e. parse a text file that didn't have a set format and put it into an object.

Cloudflare announced the launch of its new public DNS service 1.1.1.1 on April 1, 2018. The company promised in the announcement that 1.1.1.1 would offer faster speeds and better privacy than other public DNS systems provided by companies such as Google, Yandex or Cisco. Let us find out if the promises hold up to a closer inspection of the service.

Is that second  one 35=3 * 81?  If I'm reading correctly (hard to see because of the size of the image), none of them are true.

Thanks but that's not what I'm looking for. I want to code my own routine with autohotkey. Operating system is XP.

So you're wondering if there is an api for process tamer so that you can access it's gathered information externally?

Living Room / The CIA releases the board games it uses to train its agents
« Last post by wraith808 on April 01, 2018, 10:58 AM »
Best use of a FOIA request ever!

You can now play the board games the CIA uses to train its agents, for free (via Reddit, tabletopgaming.co.uk)

The two games released so far include:
Collection: Players use intelligence techniques to solve intelligence problems.
https://www.muckrock...me-collection-38476/

Kingpin: The Hunt for El Chapo: Seems to be a first stab at something like this, so no real summation in the documents.
https://www.muckrock...-for-el-chapo-38475/

When you click on the link, click download in the responsive documents collection.  Both files are rather large, and the games are rather intricate, and surprisingly intriguing!

The one I'm waiting for is Afghanistan Sustainability: COIN Dynamics, though the Collection Deck one is supposed to be like Collection, but with CCG type mechanics.  But both are still classified.

As someone commented on the Reddit thread:

The idea of CIA agents looking for trouble every turn they don't find a monster really makes my inner child happy. And a little scared.

« Last post by wraith808 on April 01, 2018, 09:20 AM »
So is this #EXTINF line a separate line from the actual Media file line?

And as for my using MPCPL as opposed to M3U, I just never had used any programs that had M3U as a default format. In fact (if you'll excuse my ignorance), until you mentioned it, I didn't even know that MPC supported it. As for the Subtitle files, they don't always match the filename. But then, with MPC, it first looks in the media file folder to see if there's a valid Subtitle file there, and if not, it looks for one in a SUBS folder, and if it's there, it uses that, no matter what the name. I guess I'll have to go thru all my subtitle files and have a bit of renaming to do!   :P

Thanks very much for that idea of using M3U, tho. For that reason, I will consider this topic to be DONE and closed.

fdwojo

P.S. I don't know if it's supposed to be me that changes the Topic title to
"DONE: Need an .MPCPL file editor"
or if someone else does that. If it's me, could someone tell me where/how it's done? I didn't see any kind of link anywhere that would allow me, the original poster, to change it. Sorry if I'm stupid and missing something obvious.

No, someone else does it.  So you don't need the editor?  I was paused in any case, as 4wd seemed to be trying to show you an implementation that would work out of the box, and his questions seemed to make sense to me.  Just wanted to verify.

It's not my script.  It's just one that I found in my research that I thought might be of use.  What it does is in the comments at the top, i.e. writes a Media Player Classic Playlist file for all video files in chosen directory.  Accent key launches the script.
