i love these fun things.. they are nice ways for strangers to make a connection in this isolated world, and a way for you to show an author that you appreciate their work by spending a little of your time.

can't be a simple update, BUT if you do like a major almost-complete rewrite of an existing app, that has been allowed.
new plugins/addons are also allowed.

In past NANY events we have focused on celebrating those coders who have participated.  I received a birdgram from the site mascot Cody today which informed me that this year he will personally be conducting attacks on all coders who hang out at DC who do not participate.  So if you know how to code, and hang out at DC, I strongly encourage you to participate.

You can now get paragon's drive imaging tool in a very good free version:

Just tried this free drive backup tool and was very impressed.  I normally use Acronis but that's becoming a very bloated expensive tool.  This paragon tool did a very good job, was easy to use, and has a nice bootable rescue cd builder in the program.  Was fast too.

If you don't yet have a drive imaging tool, or especially if you have family members with desktop/laptop/netbook computers, and want a legal free good drive imaging tool to install on their computer, i highly recommend this

General Software Discussion / Re: Surprised by Win7

i've just used it a little bit, and i should clarify that while i found it a pleasant surprise, i have not yet found any compelling reason to prefer it over my current Xp Pro install; or at least not enough to upgrade.  for a new install though, win7 seems like the way to go.

Just tested it, and Process Tamer works perfectly on Windows 7 64bit (and any other edition).

Circle Dock / Re: We need to make a present for Markham for updating CircleDock
« Last post by mouser on October 30, 2009, 03:35 AM »
well it's just a wonderful pleasure to see Team Circle Dock in action.  sgtevmckay was here manning the fort for a long time by himself, doing a valiant job, and i really feared for the worst.. then to see you guys swoop in and revive it has been wonderful.

the least we can do here is offer some encouragement and knick kacks for you guys.  so someone get that Team Circle Dock image going and we'll send out mugs or tshirts to the bunch!

Thanks for sharing that Matt.. You may inspire me to release an update for Win7/Vista before the end of the year.

I've been surpised and impressed so far by it.  i expected it to be much more flashy and annoying with lots of useless animated crazyness and distractions; it seems a lot more focused on letting you get to work.

Find And Run Robot / Re: sending mails to contacts with Outlook
« Last post by mouser on October 29, 2009, 05:55 AM »
you could actually create one alias based on the email alias that comes with farr, and have a list of results in the alias that would give you the choice of who to send the email to.

and then to get that last step that would let you type the partial name of the person to email in order to filter the result to just that person, you would use the "Result Filter for RegEx" advanced option in the alias.  that should be set to the part of the regex pattern that should be matched against the persons email address in the result list.

We need to make a present for Markham for updating CircleDock and sharing his work with others.
I was thinking maybe someone could make a cool circledocky design image we could put on a mug or tshirt for him?
Any ideas?

UrlSnooper / Re: Windows 7
« Last post by mouser on October 29, 2009, 03:44 AM »
New version (v2.25.01) includes the 4.1.1 winpcap installer, plus some other fixes that should make it work better on Win7+Vista.
18023
New release:

Version 2.25.01 - October 29, 2009
  • Updated with latest version of WinPCap (4.1.1) - Now supports Windows 7
  • [BugFix] The error about index out of range when network adapters have changed on restart should be fixed.
  • [BugFix] Settings file was still being saved in application directory even on Win Vista/7; new version respects configdir.ini and portable settings, as well as storing working files in user documents directory by default on Win Vista/7.

As for decrypting text that came in while you were offline, try the Mircryption menu item -> Migration of keys and backlog decrypting and choose backlog decrypting.

« Last post by mouser on October 29, 2009, 01:20 AM »
let me answer easy one first.
the +OK settings should be remembered, absolutely.

i wonder if its a problem with mirc and win7.

mircryption stores options like this in your mirc alt+R variables list.

to set it manually, go change the  %mc_etag line to say
%mc_etag +OK

you will set the default for all channels and it should be remembered.  restart mirc and check your variables to make sure.

but you know i thought that +OK was the default used by mircryption for the last few versions, so you really shouldnt have to change that.
