I've also noticed that any alias that launches a program brings up a dialog asking which user to run the program as (WinXP, SP3)...

$*&#*(&&%(&%(*#(*&#@!@!@!@#@$@ >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
I messed up. I will push a new update now.  Very stupid to not do more testing before I pushed an update.

Find And Run Robot / Re: "Mail" instead of "Thunderbird"
« Last post by mouser on November 20, 2009, 02:50 PM »
  • Search for thunderbird inside farr.
  • When it comes up in results, right click on it and you'll see the context menu.
  • Choose "Add to group Alias-> new alias group"
  • Name the new alias group "mail".
  • Give it a high score like 2000.
  • Click Ok.
  • All done.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Shortcut to launch with admin privileges?
« Last post by mouser on November 20, 2009, 10:55 AM »
Done, implemented in v 2.80.01; hold ctrl+shift when triggering an item to run as admin; for alias results you can also indicate a result should be run as admin with /runasadmin option.

ps. thanks for the tip f0dder.

New version with some useful features requested by users, including customizable titlebar which supports date+time, as well as ability to easily launch applications as an administrator.

Version 2.80.01 - November 20th, 2009
  • [Feature] - Ability to customize titlebar, including ability to put date and time in it.
  • [BugFix] - Users can no longer delete built-in hotkeys (but they can be disabled).
  • [MinorFeature] - Added option to disable troubleshooting log.
  • [Feature] - You can launch an item as an administrator by holding Ctrl+Shift as you launch it (or adding /runasadmin to the result in alias list)
  • [Feature] - The launch history and search history are now saved to independent files (in config dir) instead of the ini file; allows faster save of bigger lists, and means less paranoia when moving and sharing normal ini settings file.
  • [MinorFeature] - Improved text of options dialog for history options.
  • [MinorFeature] - When reducing the number of items to keep in history, it now truncates the current list.
  • [BugFix] - When launch history reached max, new items were not being added.

Rekrul, I know you've probably heard this a million times and probably have good reason to stick with windows 98 -- but as a coder i think trying to support win98 is becoming something that isn't worth the effort, it's just no longer in use for all but a handful of people.

Google had an event about their Google Chrome OS today.. Anyone read any good write-ups? Here's one from Gizmodo entitled "Everything You Need to Know About Chrome OS"

I try to aviod commenting on google stuff as much as I can, because for whatever reason (maybe it's an unreasonable suspicion of giant corporations), i view most of what google does as a greedy and disguised attempt to lock down market share for their advertising; maybe that's unfair, I don't know.  Technically though, they are usually up to something interesting.

Google went to great pains to emphasize that today's event wasn't a launch—that'll come a year from now, apparently, with a public beta still well over the horizon. This is all about a seeing the OS for the first time; understanding in real terms how it's different from what's out there; figuring out why you might actually want to use it; etc. So! Here's what we knew going in..

That's really quite interesting and something that never occurred to me.
