Oh boy, not another stand-up comic!

Can we have a few more definitions, please.

Things like: Broad-band, Wi-fi, USB, facebook, twitter, google, etc.,etc.

BROAD-BAND: An alternative to the Windows start-up sound.

I hate to be pedantic but that should be "what's that grey-man robot playing AT"  ;)

That's an interesting read, Tomos.
It might be a 'mini' review but I bet it took a fair amount of time.

In general, this approach appeals to me.
It's not an in-depth "I know everything" expert review but a much more relaxed stroll around the features.
You point out areas that are worth examining in any trial of my own, that's a useful starting point.

There's more than enough here for me to decide whether or not I'm sufficiently interested in Scrivener to invite it onto the dance floor.
Now I'm off to polka round with it.

[I'm allocating some credits to the site, as you suggested.]

I'm unqualified to comment on the technical aspects but am delighted to see fSekrit about to move forward.

Thanks for the time and effort that you put into it!

Perhaps not entirely off topic (for a change)

To the many of you who have sent me personal messages enquiring with such concern as to why I am so dopey a (and here I'll paraphrase — there are simply too few asterisks available on my keyboard) fellow. This could be the answer:

Research by the British National Formulary (BNF), which advises doctors, nurses and pharmacists, found labelling that has been around for decades is now too difficult for members of the public to understand.

It found phrases such as "may cause drowsiness" are no longer "readily understood" and should now be simplified to say "this medicine may make you sleepy".

and, just to add further clarity

Likewise, the phrases "avoid alcoholic drink" and "take at regular intervals" caused indecision among modern takers.

The report recommends the labels should now read "do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine" and "space the doses evenly throughout the day".

For those of you who feel that this does not explain my mental state fully, I offer the following:

Drinking a glass of wine a day or a pint of beer can cut the chance of developing dementia by almost a third, according to researchers.

So, in future, I'll go for a few bottles of each beverage. That should fix it!

We'll never get people to stop ticking boxes, mashing buttons, and clicking through hyperlinks with that attitude.

Is mousing around still OK?
That...Depends on who you're with...

Once you open that dor someone could have a field day.

I think your selfless willingness to undertake this is something for which we all should be grateful.

As long as what you propose does not create any problem for the way DC runs (how could it?) I think we should urge you on with enthusiasm.

Thou waitest for the spark from heaven: and we,
Light half-believers of our casual creeds,
Who never deeply felt nor clearly willed…
Who hesitate and falter life away,
And lose tomorrow the ground won today —
Ah! do not we, wanderer! await it too?

I hate to hear people say they "clicked through" a hyperlink.

People seem to be "ticking boxes" quite a bit these days.
In the world as it is today, I like to avoid all kinds of ticking boxes.

I'm mostly in the forum, and I navigate from there... My home page "is" the forum -- especially since I can access everything from the forum. I wonder about others...

Same with me, so I am entirely unaffected by any changes.
If the page can be improved for new visitors, by making DC easier to navigate/friendlier/more infomative, then I'm all for it.

I just installed Scrivener - I could do a sort-of "first-look" mini-review (with bug reports - only minor ones so far)

I'd like to read that, FWIW

Definitely worth to take poll on this point to know what new users think about look and feel of DC.

Didn't the last go round on on 'whatever shall we do' result in a grand riding off in all directions? Was there a concensus that I missed?
