Living Room / Re: Making a dream PC for cheap (as possible) - help anyone?
« Last post by cmpm on January 18, 2008, 11:58 PM »
I don't think I'd count ole AMD out.
Their amd 2 quads are cheaper and faster when it's a 4400 or better.
I'd go with Asus for motherboard-3 year warranty.
One of the few that go for 3 years, and  Asus is reliable.
Nor would I underestimate the AMD2 Quads 4400 and above.
Working on building one my self here, so i' been doing some research.

a cheap one and one that will out perform most anything....

If money is no hindrance that is.

But more usbs hmmm.
pretty cheap these days-

Just do a search for USB Hubs at TigerDirect.

Ha! Yeah, very interesting license agreement.

http://www.reference...r&r=d&db=web

I'm at work or I'd look it up on WordWeb.
I suppose it has that limitation also.
I can't install it on my computers at work.
Or anything else,
which doesn't have anything to do with WordWeb either.

Ha! just did a search for it here at DC.
It's been mentioned quite a bit. :)

Seems I work backwards sometimes...lol....

http://wordweb.info/free/

Has a pro version also.

I don't know if many know of this little program.
But I found it years ago and quit using it.
But saw it in my files and thought I'd look it up and try the newer version.

It works online or offline.

Works offline speedily. Has it's own built in dictionary and thesaurus, plus it can find more on your computer.

Highlight a word and my Firefox search box will look it up in whatever I have it set to-Google, Firefox add ons, DonationCoder Forum, Ask. Whatever your search bar is set to search.

Have not played with it much since I loaded it this morning.
But when that search through your search bar in Firefox popped up when highlighting a word in my browser.
I thought it deserved mentioning.

It uses the extra search bar you can add in Firefox in my setup.
Don't know about other browsers or other Firefox setups.
But WordWeb uses the one I added in the customize Firefox box.

Rock on DC!

There isn't anything anyone has that you don't tinjaw.
It's built into you, the journey is the destination.

Picture religions as mountains.
The only way to see them is from the 'air'.

Yes, those who know these religions and texts and beliefs know a project as suggested would be a waste of time. It's the heart of these things that matter and cannot be seen in black and white.

Best to choose what you are interested in , and search those things out. and then a comprehensive look can be seen and organized into something readable. And possibly usable.

A most comprehensive work that I've seen that can be viewed in general is this. And it's not a program or book. As close to real as the real thing I suppose. There are other resources emerging that I'm aware of but would not fit into this forum in any way.

Are you really wanting to find something in print or a program?
Do you really want to do some searching?
It's not hard. You have to think.

But no one can control the wind.

If you want to 'see' look for Abraham.
The Father of many nations-religions.

If all you want is to compare texts of different religions, It's already been done.
Search within searches, is not hard to do.

Gathering all the many texts would fill your hard drive.
And a few more.
Especially since they are still being written.

« Last post by cmpm on January 06, 2008, 08:58 PM »
Personally I'd get it out of my computer. ASAP.
It should be a smooth install with few if any problems.
And the problems easily solved because the program has been tested.
This one does not seem to have been tested much,
and possibly using gaotd to test it.

That's my impression and opinion anyway.

The free alternatives that are in the comments.

Did you restart your computer?
Do you have error reporting on?

I didn't need the program myself, but these are common problems.

you would either have to tell them to disable caching or it be done auto matically with the download when hitting setup

which is out of my realm of know how

here's some ms stuff about disabling it

http://search.micros...mp;q=Disable+caching
1788
yeah lol...I think ie7 got dumber in some ways then ie6.
built to browse the web basically and not really good at much else

could be a combination of a few normal things

i wonder if they are using that ie7pro which has gone to version 2 now
and a top rated download at ms
1789
The main solution after investigating via google is to clear the cache.
Has this been tried?

Here's a good cleaner for more then the cache even.

Just guessing here, but I'd say they may be hitting run instead of save. So it could have something to do with it being in the tempoary folder and installed from there. That's the only difference I can think of at this point.
1791
http://www.google.co...mail&btnG=Search

http://www.google.co...look&btnG=Search

a couple more

if one can get the right combo of search words
no telling what could be found
1792
Well you can e-mail yourself for mainly and what I was thinking.
These solutions seem to be for groups, but I think it would work for an individual also.
Since you can e-mail yourself with the same e-mail program or using two e-mail programs-which I don't think would be neccessary but could help with organizing.
I came across that program in a related search.

Here's another search-

http://www.google.co...ling&btnG=Search

adding outlook comes up with some interesting results also-

http://www.google.co...look&btnG=Search

Scheduling e-mails is different then having a recurring appointment calendar.

For e-mails you can be a lot more flexible in setting up a schedule then in just a calendar program.
If one can get the e-mail to do the schedule you want.
I do believe it's not limited to daily, weekly, monthly, etc....
I haven't played with any e-mail programs in this light.
But the search results seem to be that e-mail is very flexible concerning scheduling.
1793
try coordinating it with e-mail

this is the closest i can find

http://chandlerproject.org/

could be way off, but it's certainly different

General Software Discussion / Re: A Firefox Lover's Guide to Opera
« Last post by cmpm on January 01, 2008, 08:54 AM »
Thanks nontroppo,

Opera-

One thing I really like is how it does dropdown list of bookmarks.
You can view then without scrolling or taking up more then the screen can handle.
By default it shows a single list with a next or more at the bottom and brings up the next list of alpabeticaly sorted bookmarks with out taking up all the room on the desktop. Removing any 3rd list keeping it to two and better accessible and readable.
Firefox is not done well in its dropdown list of bookmarks unless you use the bookmark sidebar it's a time consuming deal. The sidebar button on firefox is the only workable fast way of browsing bookmarks for me.

funny I've found the opposite - I mean Open Office (2) files' formatting getting screwed up when opened in Word... but cant remember what exactly the problem was anymore (lets see: colour highlighting being lost, stuff going from one page to two, loosing correct indentation - but cant remember the exact details)...havent had any problems with Textmaker but then I dont need to use it a lot so you could say I dont actually test it that much :)

You can save an OO document as a MS Word Doc or any of the formats offered in the save as file type drop-down menu. If that helps with all that you have there tomos.

I had to e-mail a homework project made in OO to my son and he had me save it as a Word Doc in order for the formatting to be correct. (He had forgotten to take it with him)

But I'd certainly go for that student discount deal on ms office.
It would be worth it just to have it.

Or if anyone knows how to make the icons smaller in Opera, that would be nice.

Also how to customize the google toolbar widget that seems to have a fixed set of buttons. There is no button maker either for it like the google toolbar for firefox and ie. It's also undockable so it's either hidden or in front of something.

But having fun with it tonight anyway.

Thanks for the thread urlwolf.

zridling,

appreciate the post about Opera
checking it out now

is there a way to make the icons smaller in the toolbars
if there is, i couldn't find it in customize
it would make for more room to view the websites
and the other things that Opera can show via the browser

other then that i think i'll play with it a while
it does have quite a few widgets!!!! Wow!

I'd load up OpenOffice and StarOffice since they are free and see if she likes them before investing in ms office.

There is also AbiWord, which is a quick word processor.
Not ms word but enough to write and edit with some flare.

http://filehippo.com/software/office/

I use it cuz it pops up quick like wordpad.

Glad to help out finally...lol..
it's a free one which I like
