I think "google map buddy" might be worth a look ... it allows for easy stitching together of zoomed in google maps . Bteer to read this info from Ghacks at:

And no, I'm not a Kingsoft salesperson.. I just thought it's a very good office suite replacement.

I have a teacher that doesn't like all the bells and whistles of Word 2003.  Is there a free replacement that just does basic word processing?  Perhaps AbiWord or something like that?

What "bells and whistles" do you mean? Or do you mean a light on resources, relatively small hard drive footprint? I ask because Kingsoft had a very nice free Office replacement which worked very well. Most of the time I prefer using it to either Office 2003 or 2007, which I get (legitimately) free from school

Crop quickly and efficiently - most definitely.
Most of the time tho, when I want or need to crop an image, I have a specific proportion in mind (eg 16:9 or 4:3). It would be very useful to have a drop down list so the cropping is constrained by the proportion selected.

If you were satisfied with a 90 or 270 degree rotation instead of 180 degrees (ie portrait <-> landscape) you could try EEErotate
Although made for eeePCs it works fine on my dell. It uses ctrl-alt-arrow keys

I was also driven crazy by that problem, until I began using USB Drive Letter Manager, which runs as a service. From http://www.uwe-sieber.de/usbdlm_e.html.
Each of my USB drives and external hard drives has a specific letter I chose so as not to conflict with the network, nor each other (set in an ini file) which my computer will always use.

Kalos,
 your error (I guess) is because when you copied the example formulae, you didn't set up "Datalist". In your screenshot, it looks like excel doesn't know what "Datalist" is.
You need to highlight the cells which make up your table of data (F2:I4 in the example) and then name that cell range with the name "Datalist".
Then the formulae in the example should work.
How probably depends on your version of excel. In mine, I highlight the range of cells, right click, then select "name a range"

I've just - this morning - got the same error. Downloaded the latest version, installed, still getting that error. Are you still interested in seeing any particular settings/ini files?
Right click on icon in tray:
1. Choose exit has no effect
2. Choose Options gives:
Access violation at address 00444434 in module FindAndRunRobot,exe. Read of address 00000000.
3. Choose Show and run gives the  terminate in unusual way

Drat... sorry...vital extra info...I'd already had an installed version, which gave the error. It had 2 plugins, I installed over the top of the original.
Plugins were for time zone and currency converter. I have only just tried them, but was having no FARR trouble till this morning.

Could someone give me simple reasons why posting to an "old" threat is inherently bad/of concern?
(Any thread can attract spam, so I can't see that's relevant)

If there are inherent problems to replying to old threads, my next obvious question is what is the number of weeks (or days or hours) when a thread in fact becomes "old"

I noted several comments/concerns that it might be ok to reply to such a thread if the reply contained additional useful information. Isn't that the expectation for all replies to posts, be they carefree, spritely young posts as well as feeble and doddery old ones?

Here's one that's a bit different...you can watch for the music or the dance.
The music is by a Catelan (I think) singer named Maria Del Mar Bonet, the dance is Jardi Tanquat (or Tancat, depending where you're from), by Nacho Duarto from Spain.
It won a major European prize. This video is the 2nd half of the piece. It is beautiful.

Btw, there's a dvd by the Nederlands Dans Company with this piece on it. If anyone should have it, I would pay a fair bit to get a copy!

Despite its age, I still prefer Exifer for tagging because of the straightforward, clear way it addresses IPTC and EXIF tagging (both individual and batch, with templates able to be used). It also does rotations and thumbnail fixing very easily.
(For edits I use a variety of stuff, for cataloging, I use IMatch (not free)).

Had a look at P2Edit, looks very nice. The help file location is not obvious though (wanted to see collapsing in action and don't know the shortcut key or the procedure ).
