To each his/her own. But with disk space so inexpensive these days I don't see the point. Admittedly, I'm a pack rat. But I find that needing to reference a file (or email, for example) a year or more old is not uncommon.

Have fun!

My point/reason for using Word (aside from not wanting to have a dozen text editors hanging around) is the Auto Save. In order to address ganrad's problem the work needs to be saved frequently and, optimally, automatically else it all goes up in smoke along with the open web page when disaster strikes.   :wallbash:

I've had this sort of thing happen too - I guess we all have. I've simply made it a practice, if I'm writing anything more than a couple of lines on a web page, to compose in Word (or similar) with the backup set pretty tight. When I'm finished (and have reconsidered all that I've said! -lol) simply copy and past on to the page.

Volumouse is great (for adjusting screen brightness as much as for volume) but I don't think if does exactly what the originator is asking with the keyboard.

Google Desktop should do that. Also, have a look at Gizmo's current newsletter and look at his Tip of the Month on how to add notes to your files.

Maybe that would help reduce this problem in future.
