mouser - yes that too.  which only continues my point that Jeff was on crack the day he wrote this blog.

I'm sure there are many variables along the way.

1.1 - You can use this for free, send me a post card or something if you want to.
1.2 - Donationware model 1: I hope you like it en ought to send me some $$. It's ok if you don't.
1.7 - Donationware model 2: I'm letting you use it with the expectation that you'll donate.  If you only use it a few times a year don't worry.  If you live your life around it send my kids to college.
1.9 - Is Shareware stupid, you can try it before you buy, but you will buy.

In short, not always.

There are some people who want exactly what he described it's true.  That doesn't mean that every programmer thinks this way.  Personally, I want cash.

The question of Free Software, Open Source or Moneyware (in any form) is one of a philosophical position.
1) I want to create something to share with humanity....we can be one bonded by our shared use of something I created... (angelic singing)
2) I worked hard on this, give me money if you want to use it.

This is painfully obvious to me... how could he be so stupid?

Coming up with a 3D file viewer would be fairly trivial in some respects.

The big problem to me is coming up with a 3D metaphor.  What object/icon would you use to represent a file?  Would a Word Doc be different from a PDF or a DLL?

The next challenge is how do you contain those 3D objects?  We still need to establish some hierarchy or tree to organise the stuff.

Did you have something in mind?

That means that microdrives that used to hold about 3,000 songs could provide room for about 30,000 songs. In more technical terms, that means it will be possible to store about 230 gigabits per square inch, or up to 20GB, on a 1-in. microdrive.

Verified True!  I checked godaddy myself.

1) The folks at Godaddy do have a sense of humor, so this might be a plant.
2) There was an error stating this "ho" was too short for a domain name.

Note:  All of the 3 character domains (in every .com combination) have been registered for quite some time.

In any case, my personal favorite is:  OfficialHo.com

Bummer about the downtime, but IRC was still up.  We had a good time waiting for the Great Server Reboot.

jgpavia you are beautiful :)

I just tested your "little script" and it works pretty well.  I used EditPad Lite and evolvED to create new blank documents.  I started you ahk script, selected the two editor windows and started typing. 

There is a slight delay between sending and having control back, which makes sense.

There are two minor things I offer for improvement:
1) Add a "Continue" button on your splash screen.  It took me a while to figure out that I needed to close it to continue.
2) It might be cool to have a checkbox on the text sumission box to allow sending CRLF or not.
I might not want to send that at each line end.... My thought is that it would be check to send CRLF and would be the default.  If I unchecked it, it would just send the text w/o CRLF and I would append the line.

Sorry, but we have used this method for some projects. And it worked very well. It's good for small teams of about or less than 5 people and for smaller projects lasting only some weeks. It can be used also for bigger teams if you seperate groups (coders, networkers, etc.). It can be a real world solution for real people.

I have a general disdain for academics who solve the worlds problems from within their classrooms.  I lived through the 80's and 90's where all the MBA's practiced the Managment Style of the Week as proclaimed by the "Experts" at Harvard, etc.   It was crap then it's crap now.

There is no single answer to the problem.  It depends on the talents and attitudes of your staff.  It depends on the product and the ability to transfer the vision.  Scrum looks like another attempt to micro manage developers and not allow them to think about the big picture.
